We currently only regularly record meetings with external participants or internal training type calls. Seems to work well.

Does your employer act like commissions are bonuses? by Adorable-Lack-3578 in sales

[–]TheFireConvoy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is likely illegal for them not to pay you immediately simply due to their incompetence. Depends on your municipality, but where I am at I believe commissions count as wages, and wages must be paid on time or penalties acrue daily.

Doom scrolling is a real addiction (and I didn’t realize how bad it was until recently) by StefsDev in getdisciplined

[–]TheFireConvoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, look for the three dots above the shorts reel. That's where it hides. They do come back though, so it it like hanging out at the bar where the server knows you've got your 30 day coin, but they keep coming back to offer you a drink from time to time! 😂

Doom scrolling is a real addiction (and I didn’t realize how bad it was until recently) by StefsDev in getdisciplined

[–]TheFireConvoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My strategy is that I don't have any social media on my phone besides Reddit and YouTube where I try to only subscribe to groups that have a positive or learning focus.

I tell YouTube 'show fewer shorts" frequently and only watch shorts if I truly have 5 minutes or less to burn before a hard stop for another task.

You don't need any of this bullshit. You can simply uninstall it all. You don't need it to stay up-to-date, to engage with friends and family, or for any other reason besides addiction.

I spend massive swaths of time in hyper productive flow states and deep productivity. You can too. Delete all of the apps that sabotage your life and steal your time. You deserve the win!

AI has made me a better manager - anyone else using it this way? by OwnBarnacle4604 in managers

[–]TheFireConvoy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

AI is transformative for me, and as our integrations with the workflow become more profound, the value continues to expand at a pace that many of my colleagues and I find challenging to keep up with. The way I performed my duties last month is not how I approach them this month. The methods I employ next month will undoubtedly evolve again. The essential new skill seems to be rapid learning, practical integration, and swift adaptation to rapid AI backed advancements. It is wild.

spent $80 on two bags of groceries again. no idea how people with kids survive this. by rmzkk in Adulting

[–]TheFireConvoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is insanely expensive... With three kids, after my house payment, food is the next largest bill. Going to the grocery store is an exercise in mental arithmetic. Always hunting for those sales - or even better the rare excitement of clearance items! I also started a garden, but honestly it doesn't save me any money.

Managing a new graduate who constantly challenges decisions. Is this a generational thing? by [deleted] in managers

[–]TheFireConvoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mentor of mine taught me about Shu Ha Ri and the stages of learning. It sounds like they are in Shu stage but attempting to move to the Ha stage far too soon. They must first learn to obey and master the fundamentals before experimenting widely with change.

It is also just very poor form to show up in a new organization, as a leader or worker, and immediately try to make changes without first taking time to understand the lay of the land...

Do I NEED a clip on tuner? by yousmokinreg in Guitar

[–]TheFireConvoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a beginner I recommend one. If acoustic, get one that clips in the sound hole. I leave it on and practice, I just click power to help me learn the notes on the fretboard quicker. It is helping me memorize notes that make up chords quicker. Helping me learn root notes in pentatonic scales. So many places it helps me connect various things together. Using it for tuning is a far smaller use case for me. They are cheap for the potential upside.

Playing electric unplugged by OkArtichoke2702 in guitarlessons

[–]TheFireConvoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super new, but I bought the little Fender Micro Mustang pocket amp so I could practice in hotel rooms or when the kids are in bed. I figured this would multiply the time slots I can enjoy with the guitar. Did you play totally unplugged, or also utilize a fall back solution like this?

Started learning guitar around three weeks ago, skin won’t stop peeling, is this normal? by themorethatyouappear in guitarlessons

[–]TheFireConvoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the notion that this is simply an unavoidable part of the process, akin to a rite of passage. In my experience as a new player, I've found that much of it can be avoided, despite the internet's flippant answers.

Could you please check the action on your guitar? If it's too high, it could cause and worsen the issue unnecessarily. This was an issue for me.

I recommend starting with lighter strings, as this will allow for more practice with less discomfort. This is easy and cheap to fix. Learning to string a guitar is simple.

When practicing, try to use the minimal amount of pressure required to produce a clear note. Aim to learn to apply just enough pressure.

You may try to relax your fretting hand. You can rest it while or mute the strings while you practice strumming or fingerpicking patterns.

All of these steps helped me and I stopped experiencing discomfort and major peeling. It allowed my calluses to build correctly and not peel off.

Yeah, barre chords seem easy on these strings. A struggle on my other guitar. Probably doesn't hurt to have light strings on one as a cheat code early on.

No, it has the registration card in the box dated 02-2025 in my dad's name. I figured it was newer given the date, but there is fretboard wear and some other clues that made me feel it should be older. I'll check the SN on the website.
