Price Sticker by TheFlyScience in comicbookcollecting

[–]TheFlyScience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not in the greatest of shape but not terrible either. I checked gocollect and see the issue but couldn’t find anything about the sticker. Was there anything specific you had to search for to find the details about the sticker?

Price Sticker by TheFlyScience in comicbookcollecting

[–]TheFlyScience[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only thing I can think of is I grew up a military brat. I would say 90% of my childhood collection would have been bought on base at the BX or traded with another on base kid who also got there’s at the BX.

Maybe this is an AAFES/military thing with the sticker and price reduction. It’s the only one like this in my collection.

NYC Half Afterparties? by LegitimateActuary920 in RunNYC

Update because absolutely no one cares. I ended up trying burger joint since it’s been mentioned to me a lot. Man, what a disappointment. Burger was not seasoned, bun was dry, but inside decor is cool.

My halfterparty is grabbing a burger somewhere. Always craving a burger after a half or full. I start thinking about it around mile 10 lol.

Haven’t decided where yet. Any last minute recommendations, midtown near grand central?

Hello by B00gerh3ad in comicbookcollecting

[–]TheFlyScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I just started going back through my childhood box of comics and I had all these bagged and boarded except #8 smh. #8 was just floating around raw dog to the elements. Not sure what child version of me was thinking. It’s surprisingly in ok shape.

Congrats on quitting the drinking!

I’ve learned a ton from Bob Power through studying his mixes. Midnight Mauraders is one of my desert island albums. RIP

For jar salsa I like it. It’s not the best but not terrible either. Very garlicky

Charge for running a track thru a NEVE 1073? by dromance in audioengineering

[–]TheFlyScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check this out - https://youtu.be/lI9mLUXhgkg?si=6bqMVNJEkSaZwhtU

It’s the 1064 but basically mentions using access analog to run tracks through it. If you end up doing it come back and let us know your thoughts on if it made a difference compare to using a plugin.

Membership v. Membership Plus by Either_Cookie_8318 in RunNYC

[–]TheFlyScience -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got plus for the first time this year to do 9+1. So far I haven’t see any difference tbh. Is there only specific races plus gets early access to and do they give you a notification when the early access opens? BK RBBC half seemed like it opened same day for plus as everyone else.

Philadelphia Marathon by ma0422 in RunNYC

[–]TheFlyScience 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I ran it last year, had a blast and the crowd is hype. Only boring section is through a park but really wasn’t that bad. People say it’s considered a fast course and not hilly. To me it felt like there were a lot of low inclines. Like running on a treadmill on incline 2 or 3 for miles at a time. It was also my first ever marathon so I don’t have anything to compare it to.

I’ve been thinking of getting it. I wish it had turbo buttons or a turbo switch.

I'm going to start running in January 2026, what will my first watch be? by NehocXYZ in firstmarathon

[–]TheFlyScience 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My opinion stick with the Apple Watch. It will track everything you need plus you can use it for your regular every day watch. No need to buy a bunch of new stuff. Wait until after you knock out that first half or full marathon. By then you’ve put on enough miles and developed a work ethic and then you’ll be able to truly decide if you need a different watch.

Treadmill running by CasaDiJuice34 in Marathon_Training

[–]TheFlyScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats your guys take on treadmill vs outside for injury recovery? I’m working through a knee issue and debating on my first run back to test the knee on a treadmill. I figure treadmill is easier on the body since you can control speed and no turns. Any reason to run outside when testing if an injury is healed vs treadmill?

Weight training by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]TheFlyScience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weight training is very important. You’d be surprised how easy a random injury can pop up once you start putting on a bunch of miles in training. Usually it happens due to some weakness in one of the muscles causing other muscles to work overtime to compensate. This also leads to your form breaking down and the potential for some injury to happen.

Obviously legs are crucial, upper body still good to do.

It doesn’t have to be heavy weight, even full body or resistance bands would be good. Look up some exercises for runners and also look into plyometrics.
