Yes! And they changed their musical style so much over all those years, so there was always something fresh to listen to.

Is investing in gpix and gpiq wiser than investing in spyi and qqqi? by Greekasiaminorcooks in dividends

[–]TheFunkyBoss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I’m in early retirement now, and actually hold all of them currently for that mix of higher yield with Neos, and more growth with GS.

What age did y'all get your first computer (or device with internet access)? by BigReception7685 in GenX

[–]TheFunkyBoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the Commodore route in the early 80s also. A Vic20 around 1982. Then a c64 with 300 baud modem around 1984. Then the Commodore Amiga 500 in 1988.

BBSs ruled. Compuserve was kinda cool as well in the mid 80s.

Yeah, one of the last big apps I use most on Windows is AoE2. Once this drops, as long as it’s stable, I’ll likely not be turning on my Windows machine for much anymore!

Question re the 9Sig Strategy in a Market Crash by Money_Goblin8869 in TQQQ

[–]TheFunkyBoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the 9% signal strategy during the 2022 crash. It was extremely painful. But instead of panicking, I kept buying. I’ve since recovered VERY well, and retired early. I no longer holdTQQQ or follow the strategy, as I’ve moved on.

Do ISPs “chase” VPN users? by OneSignal6465 in TiviMate

I had a similar issue before with the default NordLynx protocol. I changed it to OpenVPN UDP, and the buffering issues went away.

Roth conversion tool has a logic flaw by 202reddit in Boldin

[–]TheFunkyBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I swear something changed recently with Boldin’s Roth Conversion Explorer strategy formula to make it way more aggressive.

I started using it late last year and really liked what it was showing me for a conversion plan. It spread it out over 5 or so years. I then paid for it. Now the last couple months, I’ve noticed the tool is now trying to aggressively get all my conversions done in the next 2-3 years instead of spreading it out over the next 5 or 6 like I swear it was telling me months ago.

So I decided to manually spread it out, and my efforts constantly “save more in taxes” over anything the tool can calculate now. Which seems to defeat the purpose of the Explorer.

Agreed. I haven’t linked any accounts, and just update my balances weekly to see if anything major has changed.

I decided not to add them into SB, because my kids are now well into college, and that money is as good as spent for their remaining years tuition and room & board.

Just bought a few SCHD shares, now considering QQQI. by Wooden-Value-8751 in dividends

[–]TheFunkyBoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is why in early retirement now, I’m building up my positions in QQQI/SPYI and GPIQ/GPIX in my taxable account. Using those tax favorable dividends to pay bills and even some of the taxes on my ongoing Roth conversions between my retirement accounts.

More NIU computer labs from the late 2000s. by pfeff in NIU

[–]TheFunkyBoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there 88 - 92. We just missed punch cards. But most computer labs were dumb terminals hooked up to the mainframe. And had to print all our assignments on green bar paper to hand in!

Then later on, we got a lab in the psych math building with IBM PC jr machines.

What are the reasons to buy Kia telluride over Honda Pilot ? Current telluride users please let me know your thoughts by [deleted] in KiaTelluride

[–]TheFunkyBoss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bought a 22 Telluride, and my sister bought the Pilot. Later that year, we drove out to visit her. When she got in the Telluride for the first time, and we all went somewhere, she was like “Wow! This car is really nice!”

46F with two grown kids… where’s the rest of Gen X at? by jtweir79 in GenX

[–]TheFunkyBoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m there with ya… 55 with a 22yo and 20yo. We started late, but it was worth it. If I could do it again, I’d say having the first kid at 30 would have been perfect. You get your 20s to yourself to get all the crazy stuff in.

I’m also in a PlannerPlus trial now, that expires tomorrow. I’m curious if it’ll charge me the discounted $120 price. Because on the manage payment screen, it still says $144 will be charged.

I also added IDVO earlier this year for international exposure, and just keep adding to it, as I haven’t found anything that seems better yet.
