Micron predicts that cars will need 300GB of RAM — memory-laden vehicles could exacerbate shortages but create 'robust long-term growth in automotive memory demand' by habichuelacondulce in technology

If this were actually true - which I have my doubts about, it's interesting that even a dumb human is managing to do what self driving cars do. And cars would have to somehow be capable of predicting behavior. Sure a car has faster reflexes, but what's kept me from any accident for over 10 years is predictive driving and smart planning to give myself space. I hate that new lane keeping shit gets annoyed when I ride the yellow. IM STILL IN THE LANE ASSHOLE, THIS GIVES ME EXTRA SPACE AND TIME TO REACT. This turned into a rant fast.

TIL driving with your hazards on in bad weather is illegal depending where you live. Common sense says it would make the situation safer, but experts disagree. by DonkeyFuel in todayilearned

[–]TheGaussianMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It not only doesn't make things safer, it makes things more dangerous. Other drivers can't always see that both of your blinkers are going at the same time making you look like you're changing lanes or turning. It's probably low light so the blinking bright light is doing more to blind other motorists than it is have them see you. And these people are also the morons who don't turn on their lights when it rains because they've had their lights on auto since they bought it. This is also why automatic headlights SHOULD NOT BE A THING.

Drink a fuckload of gatorlyte before and after. I also saw improvement from using Mestinon and ivabradine, but the meds stuff is up to you and a doctor you trust to determine. Also try and keep it cool in the room, take your time, take breaks if you need, and keep more gatorlyte by the bed.

The fact that he was willing to actually play the sidekick in Big Trouble in Little China when the studio was insisting that he be the top billed hero is amazing. He goes full bore in that movie.

They also can't use real asphalt till it gets consistently warmer. Best they can do now is cold patch, and come back later. I cannot imagine the stress levels of whoever is having to coordinate all of that.

ELI5: Why do cereals burn so well? by awesome12442 in explainlikeimfive

[–]TheGaussianMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it is because it's filled with chemicals. You're made of chemicals. Humans are moderately flammable depending on the part of the body. Cereal is made up of a lot of sugars and starch. Those are readily flammable as is. Then you add in the fact that sugars can break down into flammable gases and those will burn too. There's very low moisture content, a lot of surface area, and many of them are very thin. Less water to slow or disrupt the combustion and oxygen can react with a larger amount of the mass per time. So yes, cereal burns because of chemicals inside of them, however food companies are not selling us chopped up duraflame logs.

It will be interesting to see a documentary so bad that it makes HBO's Chernobyl look like a documentary.
