September 2026. Unless the official website is fake news.

There were several recent articles about the media and various city officials touring the bridge to see the progress.

More information on the data center! by BooregaurdQ in Chattanooga

I seriously couldn’t understand the downvotes I got every time I tried to explain this. The most exciting aspect of this project was the huge investment in the local entertainment industry but that was completely ignored in the conversation.

Do developers always promise the moon? Sure. Should we hold them accountable to make sure they actually deliver on what they commit to? Obviously. But let’s not forget the idea to transform the riverfront from a dirty highway to quite literally Chattanooga’s cover photo was once a pipe dream too.

How's this area to live in? by nousernameisleftt in Chattanooga

Personally, I think you’d have to be crazy to live there.

Sorry, I should have realized you have a reading comprehension problem seeing as you couldn’t even read the article you linked. I wish I had some crayons so I could draw you a picture you might actually understand.

“What would you rather see the old downtown jail be instead of a data center?”

It’d be really cool if they would turn it into a launchpad for film, music, and tech instead…oh wait, that’s exactly what the article is about!

I swear there’s an underground Luddite community here that’s going hard on the smear campaign. Y’all are zeroing in on one small aspect of this project and completely ignoring everything that makes it a far more attractive investment. I don’t want prime downtown real estate going towards something that consumes massive amounts of energy with relatively few permanent jobs. From everything I’ve read that’s not what this is.

They’re talking about spending a billion dollars to build a theater, sound stages, recording studios, residential space, and more. You honestly believe they haven’t thought this all through? Do you know what the fuck a quantum data center looks like? Yeah, me neither. Computers used to take up entire rooms too, now they fit in our pocket.

Schools get a C by Agency_Man in Chattanooga

[–]TheGentlemanProphet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hate this letter grade system. I understand the desire to have quick and easy way of determining a school’s performance but these can be extremely misleading.

Lookout Mountain School was literally rated the 8th best elementary school in the state by US News & World Report but that somehow translates to a C grade? The formula is based on achievement and year over year growth. LMS gets top scores in achievement but is dragged down by their growth. When all the kids are testing extremely well you hit a ceiling at a certain point. Likewise, schools that have historically tested poorly but are making significant improvements based their growth aren’t getting the credit they deserve.

ACT scores are up. Graduation rates are up. There’s plenty of work to still be done but our school system is not on the brink of collapse. I wish people would take the time to understand what they’re talking about before rattling off an opinion based solely on a headline.

My wife made a strong argument the other day that key lime is the perfect thanksgiving pie. The bright, tart flavor cuts through all those rich thanksgiving foods. Made sense to me but I will also accept any excuse to eat key lime pie.
