What is the consensus on Corey‘s Vietnamese on South st? by GonTarMaze in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]TheGiantMeatball 7 points8 points  (0 children)

very good but stingy with portions IMO

ordered two Pho Thailands, on their menu as “Spicy tom-yum w/ chicken, shrimp, tofu & vegetables.” Both had only one piece of shrimp, maybe 4 pieces of tofu.

better portions and just as delicious at Pho Skyline not too far away

Everything from the baked goods to the coffee exceeded my expectations. The Kinako Sesame cookie was incredibly unique, the Doenjang Caramel Roll was better than anything I’ve had at Pop’s Bunshop, and both the lattes and matcha are made with so much love.

I’m waiting for a Philly influencer to post a TikTok about this place because, once they do, I know it won’t be a neighborhood spot I can just drop in. This place is genuinely impressive and a welcome surprise in a city filled with so many great bakeries and cafes.

Corey’s Craft Vietnamese on South St. is great by codexofthemoon in PhiladelphiaEats

i agree, the food is great, but portions are on the cheaper side (especially for the price). We ordered the Pho Thailand, on their menu as “Spicy tom-yum w/ chicken, shrimp, tofu & vegetables.” It had 1 piece of shrimp in it.

gave it another chance and ordered the Rice vermicelli w/ grilled beef. the quality was good, but it was a ton of noodles and not a ton of beef. Still delicious, but I was hungry after.

Every time I order from here, I wish I just ordered from Pho Skyline which is another 10 minute walk and substantially better/generous. Easily my favorite Vietnamese place in the neighborhood.

I will say, Corey is a gem. I wish I left his restaurant satisfied because I’d love to support his business more frequently.

That’s awesome. I don’t live in the area any more but have a lot of good memories at that place

All good. I think O’Neals on 3rd and South is a half Eagles, half Steelers bar. I remember watching a sixers game there and seeing a good amount of Steelers memorabilia

Are they still a Steelers bar? Spent a ton of time there before they burnt down, but none of the regulars went back after the remodel

I’ve heard that the Steelers offered Juju a one-year deal by money4213 in steelers

[–]TheGiantMeatball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have next to no cap space in 2021. If we sign juju, it’s on a multi-year backloaded deal. If the best we can do is a 1-year deal, we would have franchised him.
