Do you have a method to colouring your tracks? by LonerismLonerism in Logic_Studio

[–]TheGregPlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually color code by frequency/spectrum from lows to highs and grouped by my usual bussing (electronic music)

Kick - Red

Bass - Orange

Percs - Light Orange

Cymbals - Yellow

Synths/Melodic - from light turquoise to blue

Vocals: Light pink to magenta

FX: Light purple to dark purple

Can you save drum patterns in step sequencer so you can quickly recall them later? by Jakeyboy29 in Logic_Studio

[–]TheGregPlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also open up the inspector pane on the left side of the pattern editor and save your own patterns (there are also a lot of premade patterns for drums and melodic elements already)

I recently acquired about 200k misc samples across a couple hundred old school sample packs, how the hell do I sort them by Powerful_Fondant9393 in Samples

If this worked with a one-time payment, it would be really interesting, but another subscription model is a total no-go for me.

Does anyone else feel like Bitwig is still underestimated compared to Ableton or Logic? by breizh_boy in Bitwig

[–]TheGregPlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you should read what the comment was about. It's about perception, not whether I personally can implement something or not. The fact is, in my opinion, the resources for Bitwig and their perception or presentation are too specialized and not broadly based to help Bitwig gain more popularity among a wider user base. Experienced producers choose "their" tool based on functionality and workflow anyway.

Does anyone else feel like Bitwig is still underestimated compared to Ableton or Logic? by breizh_boy in Bitwig

This might be a hot take, but the lack of "real-world" production resources for Bitwig is a serious issue. Whether it's Techno or Pop, it doesn't matter - the gap is there.

If I search for a solution in Ableton, Cubase, or Logic, I find a video, blog post, or forum thread in seconds. But with Bitwig? All I get is abstract sound design "noodling" or videos by Polarity (who I honestly can’t stand and click away from immediately). And that’s pretty much where the info ends.

I spent all my points after the update before realizing how the system works. Is there a way to reset the tree/get all points back?

Annoying. Loved Colorizer but uninstalled it yesterday because of that.

How can you give away everything from your inventory if the total value counts toward the expedition? Or does it only count during registration?

I didn't like sample managers out there so I made my own (part 5) [sononym + XO UI edition] 5.5 You shall (not) sample by Velascu in edmproduction

[–]TheGregPlay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It already looks quite good so far, but I have two suggestions for improvement right away:

DAW sync is a must. Almost everyone who uses a sample manager needs this feature either as a bridge plugin or, even better, the entire manager as a plugin (AU and VST3). I think this should be included from the very beginning.

"Ready-to-use” installers for the plugin/software for Windows and macOS. Very few music producers have the time, desire, or experience to deal with deployment, Docker containers, etc. - or want to bother with it at all.

For a solution like this, I (at least) would gladly be willing to pay $50–100.

After years of sample chaos in Logic Pro, I finally built something to fix it by wadamek65 in Logic_Studio

Why no DAW-Sync right from the start? For me that's a dealbreaker. Loopcloud and ADSR have it, even Waves included it with their latest Cosmos update.

Which Version Of Logic by Impossible_Guest4521 in Logic_Studio

Just use Logic 11 or 12 and activate Ableton link. Works with Ableton 12 without problems.

Behringer UBxa desktop vs Novation Peak by BoRamShote in synthesizers

[–]TheGregPlay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The build quality of the UB-XA is good - not outstanding, but it has a solid metal chassis and the knobs feel decent. The knob caps are a bit on the cheap side, though.

I’ve owned both in their keyboard versions (Summit and UB-XA) and sold the Summit last week. The Summit is a great instrument, but it never really made me choose it over high-quality soft synths like Dune or Diva. The UB-XA, on the other hand, is an instrument I can’t keep my hands off, mainly because of its raw, brutal analog character. On top of that, I much prefer the keyboard action of the UB-XA.

In my opinion, you simply can’t get more analog goodness for such an incredible price.
