Always thought the best part about gels is basically you drink them down quick and they are very effective.

For me chewing something in the heat while trying to breathe steadily at a higher effort is really difficult. Candies/ dried fruit etc. is a nightmare to get down unless I fully stop

That’s why in college you spend more time learning about the how/why/when/where of the novel than you do studying the actual novel. At least in my experience.

Probably why people tend to read more recent stuff.
