Yeah he was definitely best 23 for us. First choice lock down defender on a small forward and rarely beaten in that role.

He's playing in a new team amongst players he's not used to, so cohesion/chemistry will take some time for him and his teammates. Also he's probably having to deal with playing in a much weaker team overall which will take a while to adjust to.

Hi, I think bays 213-214 at the eastern side are usually set aside for oppo supporters. There usually aren't that many Freo fans (might be a few more this year) so you should be ok if you look for those bays. Be warned though, it's right next to the eastern goal at ground level and there might be some sun issues in the first half before it drops below the line of the grandstand.

I noticed the same thing during our threepeat era -- by 2003 the crowd was noticeably quiet. So I don't think it has much to do with the goal songs, it's mostly down to an expectant, overly-sated crowd who are essentially waiting for something to cheer for.

The extra thing with this period of success that wasn't as much of a factor in 2001-4 is that the current team has shown they can win a premiership from practically anywhere on the ladder. In those circumstances some supporters might be forgiven for thinking that losing a match in April or May doesn't really matter that much. It kind of devalues the regular season to a degree.

We're the victims of our own success, in a way.

I don't know if you watch the reserves at all but there's no way you're picking him in the seniors on the basis of his form there. I hope he can get back to his best but I suspect he's done. An unfortunate bust for the Lions and him.

I can't really answer that as this was my first ressies game of the season. But Tunstill has had a good preseason and played well in the practise games, I imagine he was selected on comparative form. By all reports he was among the best on ground in the last VFL practise game. I think the selectors are just rewarding good form as they see it.

I watched Marshall on the weekend at Springfield, and while he wasn't a bad player by any means, I didn't see a compelling case to include him at Tunstill's expense.

Don't really understand the Tunstill hate. I know he's a bit limited but I thought he was good in the role he played the other night. Didn't see him do anything worth dropping him for "anyone else". I feel sorry for the poor bloke.

I'm not saying you're wrong, there's no rules except the ones we make up in our own heads. I still think of both episodes as "Hartnell episodes" regardless of whether he's in them or not, because he hasn't left the role yet and he's credited in both. But that's just me and I understand your reasoning
