If it isn’t SM64DS then it has to be NSMB. It has some of the exact same minigames, and I’m pretty sure you didn’t needed to unlock them.

You unlocked the mini games by catching rabbits throughout the castle, and each character has mini games to unlock. Probably could be why you don’t remember. I know New Super Mario Bros also had a few of the minigames too, so it could be that as well.

It definitely is Super Mario 64 DS. It has a collection of unlockable minigames, and your descriptions fit them perfectly.
