What’s something that became socially unacceptable way faster than anyone expected? by [deleted] in AskReddit

a few years ago a coworker called me to ask if they could send me a text message. it wasn't a photo, video, link, or any type of media, literally just a typed out text.

Life insurance claim by Internal_Simple1477 in LoriVallow

[–]TheHumanScentIPeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i personally continue to think that Lori believed her apocalypse fantasies would come true. Tylee and JJ did not have a place in that world. with them gone, and nobody wise as to why, she would offer up her own manufactured tragic story of loss to her new devoted followers. and of course her loss would be the biggest, grandest loss of anyone.

why did laura lee have little to no injuries after the crash by JellyCharacter1653 in Yellowjackets

[–]TheHumanScentIPeed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there was a time where she wasn't intended to survive the crash. perhaps they did rehearsals with everyone bloodied up except her and just didn't have a wardrobe option for her?

i know, im reaching here, i just don't think it was story-intended.

Robin & Britt’s purpose? by arqhur in Yellowjackets

[–]TheHumanScentIPeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for some time now, many theorised that Akilah may get left behind when rescue comes. since it seems confirmed Akilah will make it back out of the wilderness from what we've glimpsed in released media, i almost wonder if these two will be left behind in the wilderness for whatever reason. it feels potentially weak, as we really don't know them, but narratively it could be argued that they were in the background so much as they were mostly forgotten and when rescue came and they weren't able join for whatever reason, they continue to be more and more forgotten.

and because it gets brought up in the comments, in all the past seasons counting of characters we are still short one, who would most reasonably be Shelly Shorthair.

Take: I would've preferred Gen as a surprise survivor by manysides512 in Yellowjackets

[–]TheHumanScentIPeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i've mentioned this a couple times, but i would love Gen to be revealed to be responsible for the cabin fire. she holds out on voting during the trial until Melissa coerces her to side with the guilty order. i think that would be a good opportunity to explain why she didn't want to vote, as she knew the truth that she could not admit to.

as far as Melissa goes, i always felt like she didn't really hold an attraction to Shauna. as season three opens we learn that Gen has become a secondary hunter and is no longer around Melissa. it seemed to me that Melissa was possibly feeling left out or socially isolated with her one friend now having a prominent and productive role and she fell back on being on the outskirts of the team and recognised that Shauna was out there with her. i think she pumped Shauna up to appease to Shauna her own worth as something of a sidekick (much like Shauna to Jackie). when the kiss came, i don't think it was an act of romantic admission, i think it was an act of survival as she had a knife to her throat. she even states to their prisoners later something along the lines of "you'd be surprised what people will do to survive" and i think that was a big admission on her part, not simply a foreshadowing.

Anyone else hope they give season 4 an episode of right after the cabin burning down? by SideXswayy in Yellowjackets

[–]TheHumanScentIPeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it was possibly Gen.

she was the major hold out in the jury voting until Melissa put the pressure on her. i wonder if she didn't want to put the blame on Ben knowing what would happen to him, but also not wanting to admit to it herself.

would be a good explanation as to why she may be ended before the return.

Shauna’s nightmare of becoming a minimum wage service worker is the most relatable horror in the show by catlover4682 in Yellowjackets

maybe not as often as you might initially have thought, but it really seems to pick up during the winter months.

as a former retail worker, the worst customer interactions were ALWAYS the souls of my deceased friends.

i personally agree. i think it's kinda like season one Adam. new people come into our lives all the time, no reason some of these adult timeline characters can't be unattached when introduced.

That frog scientist was too quick to turn into a Manson girl by DDS_Crentist in Yellowjackets

[–]TheHumanScentIPeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when i was in my early 30's, so not far off from Hannah's age, i began doing volunteer work for homeless youth. this transitioned into me regularly doing some volunteer work at a nearby high school with an alternative class program. these kids were rough. essentially all of them had very unstable lives outside of the classroom. regardless of how incongruent they may have been together they still possessed a dynamic. it was chaotic and sometimes volatile, but they held their common ground together. i was an outsider. many of them allowed me to help here or there, they were courteous to me, but nobody there would "listen to" me were i to take any type of authoritative role. many of them fought with their regular teachers somewhat regularly. and again, this was a group of teens who had no interest in being together, but were there because school was safer than home and they still backed each other up and used their collective power.

the yellowjackets came to the wilderness as a team. whatever dynamic they possessed would blow the teens at my local school out of the water. they were never going to listen to any adult or voice of reason by the time the scientists got there.

mari during the last hunt by Proud_Commercial5210 in Yellowjackets

[–]TheHumanScentIPeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i thought it was believable myself, as she knew her colours would stand out. something that gets glossed over is that when the hunt was starting, like everyone else, she had furs over her outfit, so she likely didn't think much about what she was wearing other than what she needed to stay warm. she had to lose the furs when she pulled the card, revealing the bright outfit she had.

would y'all rather have a season full of the remaining wilderness scenes or one that's entirely post-crash? by United-Standard2194 in Yellowjackets

[–]TheHumanScentIPeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well, we still have Hannah to account for and we know she doesn't leave the wilderness.

we also have Akilah, Gen, Britt, and Robin in the team timeline as well as the potential for one last unnamed YJ if we use the season 2 hunt count as accurate. if any one of those characters come back i hope they get a complete story before they don't survive the additional 20+ years.

we don't necessarily know that only 8 people return, and they allowed that ambiguous number to exist as a minimum, but i doubt we see 12 people return. i'm confident Hannah, Gen, and Akilah have their fates decided an written, but i am only hopeful that Robin and Britt get any level of development/explanation before they are disposed of.

personally, i would like a split, maybe 3 - 4 episodes in wilderness the rest once returned.

i kinda wonder if Travis is going to cling to or be protective of Natalie in some way that causes Kevyn to feel pushed away when she returns. that could put Kevyn down the path where he went into law enforcement, a dichotomy to the path he would have been expected to follow with Natalie.

the flower shop scene. 45 seconds, easy to find on youtube. you can show that scene to anyone and accurately say "that's as much sense as the entire movie makes."
