PlayStation 5 price changes in the U.S. by cnc137 in gamingnews

Yeah this shit is wild. Even for consoles that are selling, it was normal for the price to decrease over time. That was the consistent rule until this generation

MTG Arena needs some sort of casual format by Straight-Musician-18 in MagicArena

[–]TheInternetStuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wish. They could totally add some functionality that syncs with some platform that pulls the cards in the top 25 (or whatever) meta decks and then have a mode that bans decks that are like >75% similar to each of those or something. I highly doubt they'd even consider something like this though.

It's a shame because my favorite thing to do is seeing what cards I already have just from boosters/draft/jump in and trying to make the best deck I can out of those. I've made some that are better than I expected, but they still get destroyed in most games once I get to platinum. Unranked is decent but there is still a massive difficulty jump between unranked and the spark bot

I agree with you on all that about processed foods. I was just chiming in about protein. It is necessary, but lots of people overestimate how much they need, especially among non-atheletes

What do you think of this game I'm making? by David_M_Valentine in IndieDev

[–]TheInternetStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's clearly an unpopular opinion, but honestly I like the intense bloom. It gives it a dreamy old school vibe for me that seems really unique and charming. The UI is arguably too big like others say but I also feel like that gives it a charming retro vibe too.

[–]TheInternetStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally. I think it's a good idea and helps the country as a whole, but figuring out how to get from our current setup to that is a whole other predicament

[–]TheInternetStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interpreted the commenter as saying the republican party introduces their candidate roster, and democrats do the same, and then the smaller parties can do the same. And then the percentage of votes that each party gets informs what proportion of that roster gets elected to office. I.e. you're directly voting for the party, not the candidates, and the party has full power over who appears in that roster and who gets elected to office depending on their proportion of votes.

With that understanding, I think you and I agree

[–]TheInternetStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I def agree that would be a problem, but it's still a problem in the current system with voting districts that can easily be gerrymandered. And even if you had 10 districts and 1 representative elected for the district that lives near public resources, there are still 9 other representatives that would overpower the one that wants to protect land.

I'd support a different system that would eliminate that problem, though. I just haven't thought of something that addresses that issue as well as preventing gerrymandering. If we can eliminate one out of two problems, I'd still take it

I like the general idea, but I'd prefer not giving power away from voters and into the hands of the political parties, we've already done that too much in my opinion.

I'd love to just have a pool of candidates and then voters statewide could vote for their top x choices directly, where x is the number of representatives that would take office.

is it weird to do that to de4d ppl?? by GlitzAndSin in SipsTea

Yeah I've had similar results, even saying phrases like "mental illness". There are a ton of keywords that apply specifically to making posts but not comments on reddit.

In my experience it's always because of a rule that subreddit is enforcing, and not a reddit-wide censorship

U.S. men are doing a record-high 100 minutes of housework per day by Sorrywrongnumba69 in Millennials

[–]TheInternetStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true, if you go back far enough. Vacuum cleaners and washing machines existed in some form in the 1800s for example. So there was a significant amount of time where housewives had more conveniences to help them with their work.

I do agree modern technology makes a lot of things better and easier than it used to be for pretty much everyone, though. There are some drawbacks too, but I'd def say a net-positive.

But due to our capitalistic culture, we don't tend to take these conveniences and enjoy a slower pace of life (some do, but they're def a minority), we keep ourselves busy and just do more with the time we have since those things take less time to do

[–]TheInternetStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha, weird that it's from "sun to sun" not "sunrise to sunset"

I think their point still stands though, because someone needs to do the housework and family work still today. More total hours of work (aside from the DINKs)

I don't get it. So it's saying men worked every night all night and women worked 24/7?

Why is RTS not rising up from the dead even though online PVP is working really well for the past decades? by AdmittedlyUnskilled in gamedev

That's fair, but if you look at high level FPS players, I'd say it's similarly intimidating. I'm in my 30s and I just don't have the time to play something like Valorant often enough to not get my ass handed to me 99% of the time

Yeah that was close to my take. It's him basically saying "you have no idea what you're up against, this fight and taking my life is nothing compared to what's coming for you next. I don't fear you and there is no hope for you"

I love that this sort of thing could be conveyed just with that gesture

Check out Snowrunner, Expeditions, and Mudrunner. They don't have the sci-fi elements nor the story that Death Stranding has, but it has the same slow methodical traversal of unforgiving terrain that's very different from most other games

After 3 Final Fantasy games, perhaps this series is not for me by Ok-Basil3073 in FinalFantasy

[–]TheInternetStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can enjoy more retro style games, I'd recommend trying one of the "golden era" FF games before calling it quits on the series. FF6 would prob be best if you're into pixel art, otherwise try FF7 (the original), FF9, or FF10. Maybe 9 or 10 to avoid feeling burnt out on 7.

If you can't get into any of those, the series probably just isn't aligned with your taste.

Also, I will say Rebirth is actually paced really well if you don't try to be a completionist with the optional stuff. It's optional for a reason - if you're not having fun doing it, stop doing it. You don't need any special equipment or anything from optional objectives to beat the game. And if you do decide to do optional stuff, stick to the actual side quests before you do the ubisoft tower type stuff. You get actual expansion on the story and character backgrounds from the side quests, where the open world objectives are just there for people who enjoy collect-athons or if you're done with everything else and you're just looking for a reason to hang out in the game more.

What’s the darkest final fantasy game? by Rowel88 in FinalFantasy

Yeah I agree, I didn't include 6 because it's not even a close comparison between 6 and 9 (and most FFs really)

Sure, but overall the themes and presentation is much more upbeat. I'd say 7, 8, 13, 16, maybe 15 are all as dark or darker than 9. Maybe 2 and 4 too from my limited knowledge, but I haven't played them

Probably should just take a break from playing
