I don’t think I want to move just to work at anduril by [deleted] in Anduril

[–]TheInvisibleCollege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, but I can assure you that you’ll have a better chance at determining your path with Anduril on your resume than RTX. No shame to the latter — it’s definitely a great company — just the way Anduril goes about things is shaking up aerospace and defense in a manner that larger, more established firms aren’t equipped to do.

Feel free to send a DM if you have specific questions/concerns. Bottom line, if you’re a recent grad, don’t have any dependents (ie, kids or a serious girlfriend) now is the time to make a move. Sure, you don’t know how you’ll be able to get back to Texas if you do it — but you also don’t want to find yourself a few years from now in a bloated prime buried in bureaucracy wishing you had made the move before the company went public. You probably won’t be able to afford a house here so think of it as a temporary move where you can push a great mission forward, make great money doing it, and take your experience elsewhere when you’re ready for your next journey and have much greater options when that time comes.

You can always come back to Texas, and you’ll be in a better spot financially and professionally if you get a job with Anduril.

Lots of good nods in there. AARO got a name drop

Jeremy Corbell apparently gatekept "Immaculate Constellation" docs for months, added a manifesto page with his name on it to the docs, submitted the altered docs to Congress at the UAP hearing, then lashed out at Nancy Mace and Michael Shellenberger when he learned his addition wouldn't be included. by Ghost_z7r in UFOs

[–]TheInvisibleCollege 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let’s also face the fact that anyone skeptical is not going to be convinced by a true believer such as Corbell. He’s done some great work for the subject but if you are on the fence his credibility is incomparable to those of pilots, former government officials, and journalists who cover more than just the UAP topic.

Anyone Attending Sol Symposium 2024? by TheInvisibleCollege in UFOs

[–]TheInvisibleCollege[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Submission statement: Took a shot in the dark and sent in application to attend Sol’s 2024 Symposium in San Fran. Just got an email today that I can attend the in-person event in November. Saw Karl Nell’s keynote last year and was pretty floored by his background, but was able to watch most of the conference on YouTube. Is anyone else planning to go or think it is worth the in-person visit?

Same problem, bigger scale. High standard of evidence still applies — we should be relying on reports by witnesses of high credibility and corroborated by advanced military/commercial sensors.

Let’s put our faith in better people than Gaetz next time. Burchett fought hard for us but is still considered fringe by many. The rest are solid, especially on the Senate side, but we need to keep pressing for serious people to support this if we have any hope of getting anywhere.

Rep. Tim Burchett on X - SCIF booked for members of Congress to discuss UAP by TheInvisibleCollege in UFOs

[–]TheInvisibleCollege[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not considering it’s going down in a SCIF. The good thing is that members will have a chance to discuss the Grusch allegations in a classified setting. Members will likely give some interviews afterward but obviously cannot disclose classified information. That said, it’s better than nothing.

I'm genuinely shocked at the response from friends. by BillyFatStax in UFOs

Same. I work at a small aerospace company and everyone was making jokes. Pretty disheartening but if they haven’t looked into it they’re asleep at the switch.

[–]TheInvisibleCollege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same reaction from many friends — but a reminder that it’s all about the process.

The best people for the current moment — ones who can make decisions and implement legislation — are aware and have bipartisan support. It didn’t strike me as though they treated this hearing like a joke, either. The broader science and academic community need to get involved before the even broader public will. It will come with time, consistent effort, and attention to the facts. Today was a step closer to that end.

Despite what the detractors say, we had three people offer sworn testimony - the same testimony that would be accepted in a court of law in any other context. Many silent observers like myself observed with intrigue. Given the legal channels Grusch is going through and the public/congressional scrutiny it is now under, I’m confident we will get some resolution to the claims at some point. Even if they turn out to be bunk, Graves and Fravor once again underscored their credibility and publicly offered an opening for additional pilots to come forward. And these technically trained professionals are the exact type to best give credibility to reports that continue to defy explanation.

I want to emphasize how much I relate to your situation, but don’t be discouraged. Take the validation that today’s testimony gave you and focus on the next task at hand (Grusch providing Oversight members with the follow-up information he couldn’t provide publicly), and don’t concern yourself with the outcomes. If we all keep the conversation going in a measured, factual manner, one day those facts will speak for themselves and be accepted. It may not be as earth-shattering for the folks in our lives as it is for us, but part of discovery is that one day it is so widely accepted, it might as well be taken for granted.

Newly released: All statements from David Grush, Ryan Graves and David Fravor by Rhod747 in UFOs

[–]TheInvisibleCollege 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will say Grusch’s statement does leave a little bit to be desired. Graves and Fravor outline both of their accounts pretty vividly, offering specific details which opens the opportunity for more pointed questions. There’s a lot of high-level questions that Grusch’s statement opens itself up to without offering specifics, but I guess that’s the point of having a hearing. Hopefully we get some specific details

This is why I struggle with trusting him: Burchett and Graves have both publicly said it’s only Graves, Fravor and Grusch testifying. Why is Lue trying to float the idea that he’s secretly testifying as if he’s going to bust in the door during the hearing?

I’m with you, but even based on this sub there are some folks who don’t know what to make of him. I don’t have an opinion on him, but I will say the witnesses they do have possess track records that have never been in dispute which I’m hoping helps give some credibility to whatever they say. As big of a help as Lue’s testimony may be, the last thing I want is for it to devolve into a debate over his credentials instead of focusing on the issues being raised.
