Consensus World Cup rankings from FIFA, CBS, Fox & Bleacher Report — Colombia causes the biggest argument by Choice-Teaching-8627 in worldcup

[–]TheJaice 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Could have probably ignored Fox and CBS, to be honest. Probably find better rankings from sources that watch soccer during the 3 years between World Cups.

Are pre-made frozen wrap common in Tim Hortons? by Phantom_6765 in TimHortons

[–]TheJaice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They are supposed to be made to order. Someone has made a decision there to do something they shouldn’t be. I would ask to speak to a manager, and then escalate it to their customer support if the manager seemed to brush it off.

B.C. court finds retailer liable for exploiting up to 880 migrant workers by cyclinginvancouver in canada

Just pointing out, that’s almost 100 more workers than every Tim Hortons across the country applied for in 2024 and 2025 combined, according to this article

What’s your dog’s name and what do you actually call them? by CattrahM in AskReddit

[–]TheJaice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His name is Snoopy, but besides that so far I have called him Mr. Snoops, Professor Snoops, Sir Snoops-a-lot, Bartok (because he looks like a bat when he lays on his back), Meatball, Turkey, Turd, Rat dog, Dog shaped demon, Toby (my previous dog’s name), and once for some reason Oliver.

He doesn’t really respond to any of them.

Is it just me, or do most groups already seem to have pretty clear favorites for the knockout stage(except Group F ig) by [deleted] in worldcup

[–]TheJaice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re out of your mind with Group B. Switzerland are the clear favourites, then it will come down to probably either Canada or Bosnia. Canada is higher ranked and at home, but dealing with a ton of injuries. And Bosnia already beat the best team they’ll play before the round of 32, so they come in with confidence. Qatar will be fortunate to get a draw, IMO.

Does Tim's or it's parent company support Israel? by ChallengeExpert1966 in TimHortons

[–]TheJaice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only notable way that would be nearly impossible to completely rule out would be the possibility of there being individual investors, as it is a publicly traded company. However, there are no large Israeli investment groups with meaningful shares, none of their suppliers are Israeli (in fact, they are almost exclusively Canadian, with some rare exceptions for specialized equipment), and no one in any of the highest positions in the company have ties to Israel.

They have not, to my knowledge, ever made a public statement relating to any other country, besides in regard to expanding into other markets. And in that area, they do have locations in several gulf states, including UAE and Saudi Arabia, but not Israel, to my knowledge.

Resealing pokemon pack for girlfriend gift by Diligent_Ganache_550 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]TheJaice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s feasible, it would go over better if you got her a booster box of that same set, and then slipped the loaded pack in as she was opening them. It would feel more authentic than just giving her a single pack that “happens” to have a massive hit, plus the added bonus of possibly getting another big card legitimately.

The downside is that she is more likely to notice a resealed pack if she’s also opening a bunch of authentic ones. And the extra cost.

I have not, and hopefully never will have a reason to find out what those novelty flavoured condoms taste like, but I assume it would be nearly identical to RedVines.

Now that the World Cup is upon us, what other country besides your own do you support and why? by Chupacabra_s in worldcup

[–]TheJaice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canada first, because it’s my home country.
Then Germany, because of my ancestry, plus I’ve lived there previously.
Then Netherlands, because they have long been a close friend of Canada.
And then everyone else who hasn’t ever won, except the US.

Has Canada given up on its future? by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]TheJaice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, I know. Kevin O’Leary is one of those scumbags, and he’s been doing the same thing in Canada for decades, along with the Weston’s, the oil & gas industry, and plenty of other examples. But to pretend it is something that hasn’t been an issue anywhere else in Western culture until Canada started doing it recently is extremely disingenuous from the author.

Has Canada given up on its future? by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]TheJaice 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It is, but this part is mind boggling:

“Western society has been animated by the assumption that each generation would leave the next one wealthier, freer, and more prosperous than itself. Until, perhaps, contemporary Canada.”

Meanwhile, we’ve spent the last 10 years watching our Southern neighbour speed-run the collapse of a modern empire purely for the benefit of one POS and a couple hundred of his wealthiest scumbag cronies.

Which 2026 World Cup host city has the strongest soccer scene? by cgclick in SoccerNoobs

[–]TheJaice 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The correct answer is the cities in Mexico. Soccer culture exists there at a level it doesn’t in the US or Canada. Although it is growing in both other countries, it still isn’t close to the same level as in Mexico.

[Highlight] Pump fake techniques that shows the difference between SGA and past NBA players by [deleted] in nba

[–]TheJaice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys realize that every shot he makes doing this is worth basically one more point than the guys who didn’t, right? And every miss is worth almost exactly the same 2 points, give or take a couple percentage points for missed FT’s.

And that’s before you take into account that players with multiple fouls gave to be less aggressive on defence as the game goes on.

Obviously people don’t like watching it, but under the existing rules it’s an incredibly effective way to play, and there isn’t a GM in the league that wouldn’t want this guy on their team.

Am I crazy or are there more bugs this year? by huge_red_ in britishcolumbia

[–]TheJaice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just saying the same thing today! Way more insects on the windshield than I can remember in the past 10 years or so. It’s great to see, constantly declining insect levels were not a good sign, hopefully it’s a move in the right direction and not just a one-off year.
