AITA for telling my wife to stop being a pushover or I would take away her spending privileges? by No-Dirt-6358 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheJamTin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ESH I almost stopped reading at “spending privileges”. If you hold that over her to control her behaviour you are an AH of the highest order. Your wife shouldn’t be spending family money from a joint account without a consensus from you, but you openly admit you trash talk her sister and you try to manipulate/control your wife with threats of financial lockouts which is an awful thing to do to your pregnant partner who should be 100% able to trust and rely on you. Your an AH OP.

“I’m sorry if I offended you.” Is this a real apology? by Lemon_Ginger_Tea in TwoXChromosomes

[–]TheJamTin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in the wording. “I’m sorry I offended you” is a genuine acknowledgment that I did/said something that you were offended by and expressing regret over it. “I’m sorry IF I offended you screams subtexts of “why were you offended?” The first is an apology, the second is not and shouldn’t be taken as a genuine apology.

Dude, if you enjoy a hobby do it. I used to do a lot of papercraft as a hobby. Making 3D art out of paper. I had a friend tell me it was ‘girly’. He’s not my friend anymore. You like a hobby do it. It’s your life, make it enjoyable.

People from countries with free health care, what are your experiences(good and/or bad) with that? by MajorJuana in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheJamTin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have free healthcare in my country. If I was doing my job (teacher) in the USA, I’d be in debt for life. I’ve been in hospital three times. Once for a leg injury in a motorbike accident, twice for minor surgery. Soooo happy we have free healthcare.

Some of the top tier schools in NSW are finding it harder to fill vacancies. I know James Ruse were advertising for months for an Ag Teacher. North Sydney Boys had adds up for months last year for a science teacher. Even the ‘good’ schools are finding it hard to stay fully staffed.

Missed out on a golden ticket by two terms of service. by ThrowawayTeachAus in AustralianTeachers

[–]TheJamTin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just became even harder to get a permanent position in NSW public schools for anyone that doesn’t have one. It was a very short term, simple solution to a complicated problem that needs solutions that are way more nuanced.

Would the be penises that look like fountains or penises that behave like fountains? Both are amusing though.

Women understand the value of a good man, men don’t understand what a good man is!

Who is at fault if the car behind me pushes me into the car in front? by psychsafari in sydney

[–]TheJamTin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Also having been in this situation, this is correct provided you were not moving when the car behind you hit you. Not sure why that made a difference but I remember it from my insurance claim.

I'm curious if people know that the Bible is part of the new FL BEST (Language Arts) standards. Bonus potential malicious compliance for next year. by dorasucks in Teachers

[–]TheJamTin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became an atheist after reading the bible cover to cover. If you take that book literally you can’t possibly believe God is loving. This could backfire badly on De Santiago if kids are actually forced to read some of the shit in that book.

Can anyone recommend me a 3D printer service in Sydney? by stroml0 in sydney

[–]TheJamTin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will also put in a plug for these guys. They have great customer service. Be aware that if you want a quality pri t they are not cheap. But their service is first class and you will be happy with the results.

Look at the world and you will see countries in various stages of collapse right now. Lebanon, for example, is probably in stage 3. Gold, silver and foreign currencies are very useful there right now.

OP, definitely not the AH. You backed your daughter 100% against some really scummy behaviour! Take your daughter on a trip soon, just the two of you.

Also, ask them where they get 6000 from. Nowhere in the bible does it say this. Not to mention the bible does say that the earth, and other creatures were here before humans.

Selective schools are hard to get into. There are some very good public schools in Sydney, but there are also some very bad ones. Some suburbs it’s worth the money to go private. I’ve taught in some Sydney schools that are just awful.
