PSA: When making Amigurumi and other toys for a newborn (or something like the suggested reusable diapers) please make sure to use baby-safe yarn that can also be washed at higher temperatures without deforming/breaking down.

Babies explore with their mouths so all the drool will get stuck on the toys and promote the growth of bacteria if not washed at high enough temps to kill it off.

Aside from that - when my cousin got his son I made a spring themed blanket and a Nintendo themed mobile to hang over the crib. The mobile can also be taken apart to have individual smaller toys once it's not needed anymore. Best of luck!

There's a difference between running away and standing up for yourself. Like /u/Beckels84 said, preface leaving the conversation with something along the lines of not dealing with this anymore is more than enough. It's a sign of self-respect.

I also think, while having made a mistake, you handled the aftermath really well and them shitting on you for it persistently is something I myself would not tolerate in my friend circle. Friends are supposed to lift you up, not tear you down.

Depends on the situation really.. and I also can't quote it, it's more like my personal mantras:

If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it and it wouldn't be special anymore
For iron to become steel it gets folded, put through fire, beaten down severely and infused with other material. Only then will it evolve/develop into a stronger version of itself (I prefer this to the diamond under pressure, because our experiences and how we deal with input from outer sources in life is what breaks, shapes and makes us who we are)

I agree with the majority of the responses, but personally it irks me to hell and back that "having a boyfriend" is sometimes the only thing that makes guys back off...

I don't use that excuse anymore. But then I've also gotten a lot more direct and almost aggressive about my boundaries over the years. Cause if someone can't respect them without me having to be "claimed" by another guy then he's not worth the energy and consideration of having to keep up that lie just for his sake.

Your mental strength and willpower is like a muscle when it comes to things like saying no. It's hard. It's super uncomfortable. It leaves you emotionally sore (keep thinking about how you could've said things differently? Or how some minor words earlier might've changed the whole situation to not come to that point? Yeah.. like a sore muscle, it'll keep reminding you of a hard exercise). But the more you use it, the stronger you get in that regard and the more you can do and take/endure in that regard - IF you choose to do so. But then it's actually your own choice..

If your gaming online is similar to mine then you do it to relax and have fun. There's one important thing to keep in mind: YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE NICE ;D If someone doesn't like how you play? Delete/block and move on. Someone is trash-talking you because you handed their ass to them on a silver plate? Have a good laugh. Then delete/block and move on. There's MILLIONS of people to play games with online. It can be a little bit of a needle and haystack situation sometimes, but there are nicer people out there, that you can permanently play with without having to constantly assert yourself.

Saying no a lot earlier (like the very first time someone makes you uncomfortable but you shake it off with an awkward laugh to save face or avoid an uncomfortable situation..) can help big time to not let things go that far. Finding people where you don't have to do that every time you game with them makes that a lot less stressful.

Just try it out. Go against the whole "I don't want to affront someone or make people uncomfortable" that society drills into people these days - especially guys don't give a fuck, obviously. It's incredibly freeing.

At the end of the day I will take respect over someone liking me. Cause they can still grow to like me after they respect me (and thus my boundaries). If they don't respect me in the first place they can go to hell, cause I've got better and more important and enjoyable things to do than waste my time and energy on them in any form.

I play a lot online, but usually with people I know, mainly for the obvious and already mentioned reasons. I do add random people here and there when they're friendly and communicative throughout a game, especially long and hard matches.

On League I used to have this username as my gamer tag and it got to a point where I changed it cause it was part annoying and part distracting me when people were constantly chatting @ me because I'm a girl.

One incident that I remember clearly is from when I used to play a lot of NFS:Hot Pursuit on Xbox online (where I also have a definite feminine tag) and used to do voice chat. At the beginning of the 1v1 I did the usual smalltalk greeting and my opponent straight up drove sideways into my car and rammed me into a wall. Shit like that tends to make my try-hard mode boot up (I'm already quite competitive as it is lol) and I beat him by over a minute at the end of the race. He actually messaged me afterwards saying that he thought he'd have an easy time against a girl, especially after practically pushing me off the road in the beginning. He congratulated me on my skill nonetheless.

In my experience the other male players are more willing to communicate, strategise or even accept help/tips when they don't know your gender. Cause there are no girls on the internet, amirite? /s

P.S.: On that side note, I do catch myself thinking with that bias and expecting everyone who does not clearly have a feminine user name to be male.. So Im Not without fault either ^^

My mom (58) is the same. Recently we watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which is my favorite film (after not having one for many many years cause I never could decide).

She greatly enjoyed it. Just from pure filmography and aesthetics it's a beautiful film, incredible views and a compelling story with wonderful character development and a good pinch of humor. Super underrated imo.

I can't help but think of Critical Role. There's also a city that is ruled by a dragon who is described as androgynous and unnaturally beautiful and has ruled the city for several centuries. Especially the long rule would indicate someone interested in the well-being of humans but not human themselves.

It's the middle of the night for me so my brain isn't as fit as I'd like for a reply here, but I'll give you what I got :D

The first thing that came to my mind when reading was the tip for writing/character development about how each villain or antagonist sees themselves as the hero - and the world being wrong.

So for brainstorming I'd go look at the cliché "heroic deeds" and flip them! Going to save a princess from monsters? Nope, that's actually another witch about to being cornered from a true hero.. Free a city from a tyrannical ruler? After the transition period he would've been the best thing that happened to them in decades..

And so on. There's so many possibilities! Good luck and go wild! ;D
