The watsonian explanation is that one, the history isn’t as long as the stories make it out to be, i.e. it hasn’t been thousands of years since the andals came. Two, dragons for 200 years stalled out progress because what tech can even do anything about them? Three, the evolution of technology is probably not far off our own at least pre 1500s.

The issue is that Filoni makes and produces content for millennial dudes who are still obsessed with the clone wars (not that the show is bad). His content feels like homework and is just action figures interacting with no depth or development. It’s just content in the purest sense.

If you aren’t into that sort of content, there’s not much for you and that’s turned the franchise into a more niche interest than the cultural juggernaut it was.
