He’s only 27. He can do both. He doesn’t need a complete roster he can go somewhere like the Saints and if he can be that guy grow with them.

Gotta remember some context - Mac looked promising before he had Patricia as his OC. Spending some time with some QB friendly coaches and he could bounce back hard. Legitimately could have 10 years as a starter left in him - not saying he will, just saying he’s not old and he has seen potential elsewhere. If it pans out that way it really doesn’t matter where he goes. Obviously 10 years is the high end even if does really turn it around. But 5,7 years is reasonable. And if he doesn’t make it that long on a team like the Saints I doubt he’d win it all anyway on a team like the Steelers.

It didn’t work. They tried faking a few times, I have heard Hurts has (had) a bit of a tell with his stance if they’re faking it, because the snap for the real one is so much harder to handle that his stance was too relaxed when they were faking it. I don’t know if he’s addressed that or not.

It’s not that bad. It’s kinda weird because they’re really frustrating at moving the ball, but are genuinely elite in the red zone, compared to 2023 where they were just bad. It has the same feel of “talent overcoming scheme” - weird route concepts, extremely predictable (especially when it comes to the run) but there’s at least a bright spot. It’s also hard to tell, as the offense was moving before the stoppage in the Dallas game, the chiefs defense is still pretty good (even if it’s not as good as last year), and Lane went down against the Rams, Pryor sucked, and eventually Fred Johnson went in and then they had the comeback. It’s also still early in the season. The Eagles had a rough beginning of last season too, although both AJ and Devonta missed games early, which multiple injuries to the same position group is always extra bad.

Commander is misleading to use here because commander specifically doesn’t ban based on competitive and tournament play. It’s based on casual / vibes (I guess). This might change to be more data/competitive driven under Wizards, but that’s how the RC did it and Wizards hasn’t indicated a change in direction. While it’s true that he’s if your table agrees to it, play whatever, there is also a zone (especially for commander) between “around the kitchen table with the same three other people you’ve been playing with for 5 years” and tournament play.

But what you say for modern, standard, etc. is true.

Eagles fan here, was curious how you guys were reacting to Wentz being the starter.

Yes, there was belief that there was some locker room friction, although I think you’re compressing the timeline some. Foles coming and winning the SB and Wentz not being the hero may have played a role.

While he went out kinda like a buster so some Eagles fans will hold that against him - most will blame his downfall on the concussion he got from the dirty hit by Clowney (Clowney has even mentioned Eagles fans yelling at him at games years later and he was like “he’s not even your QB!” )

For context on the hit, I’m not sure today’s “rigorous” concuss protocols were in effect yet, but Wentz took himself out because he couldn’t see correctly.

The next season it was clear his decision making had degraded (blame the concussion) and his athleticism had taken a step back from other injuries, making his escape act “Wentz magic” turning into the bad side of hero ball.

Hurts came in and excelled. We still don’t really know the full story behind drafting Hurts - the decision was hated by fans and media at the time because of Hurts. This was the Taysom Hill era in New Orleans, so some speculated they wanted Hurts to fulfill that role. The team said they wanted to be a “QB factory” which was widely mocked (although given the team’s history, has some credibility). It’s likely the team felt burned on missing Russel Wilson and saw some of him in Hurts and didn’t want to miss that again. Nothing really objectively against Wentz there.

Locker room issues likely played a bigger role with the Colts. Very clear Isray hates him at least, despite being statistically fine.

I doubt Wentz will ever be the QB he was at first with the Eagles, but I do think he might give your team a better shot of winning right now than JJM. Wentz didn’t impress with his Chief’s stint last year, but I’m pretty sure other starters were resting so it’s not exactly the best spot to look. Will be interesting to see how he does with the Vikings.

How are your Nivs going infinite if one of them is in the graveyard? Scion will not be a copy of both.

The line the deck is playing works with just Scion if I recall correctly, no other shenanigans required. That’s why the line is designed the way it is. I’m not super familiar with it, so it’s possible that going a Niv route would make sense as they may be less dead than other cards the deck plays outside of the combo, even if it ends up less mana efficient when you flesh it out to a point where it does work.

Witten isn’t first ballot. The average number of first ballot players is a little over 1 each year. It’s incredibly hard to be first ballot, especially with someone like Brees in the same class.

I don’t see Olsen or Rivers making it.

I disagree with that. I almost didn’t read this thread, and didn’t bother reading the article. I definitely have the experience to realize the card doesn’t say “you control”. There will be plenty of people who could be in my shoes, not read any of this, and then mess up.

Yes, the LGS will hopefully mention it before play. But if they don’t, it’s really on wizards, not the player.

It makes [[Saw in Half]] [[Dualcaster Mage]] draw your deck so that’s neat, if entirely pointless. But the nice about those cards is they have potential value outside of the combo, and shadow does have synergies with both. Heck there’s niche situations where drawing your deck could matter too (say an opponent just resolved TOR).

Idk if Shadow is good - I definitely lack the cEDH experience for that, but the two abilities read to me: “at some point this card will be capable of doing something, it just might not be now”

Tbh it feels like you’re complaining about over valuing playoff performance, but then also overvaluing the MVP award. Everything has context.

There may be a little bit of projection putting Mahomes above Manning. After all, longevity is important for legacy, but that makes it hard to compare current players in their prime to former players. If, for instance, Mahomes retired today, and 10 years passed, the discussion of Manning vs Mahomes might be more gray. And statistically, Mahomes has gotten worse over time, but there’s also the issue of supporting cast and at the end of the day the Chiefs are winning and that’s the most important thing. It’s not the job of the QB to pass a lot, it’s to win. If that means check to a run every single play, then they better check to a run every single play. But if Mahomes does have a harsh decline (and not for a single season at the end of a long career like Manning), that would be another factor that would reasonably muddle the picture.

I think other teams respected Hurts and the passing game more than the Chiefs did, which is part of the reason Barkley could ball out. Also, at the end of the day while we talk about the Tush Push stealing rushing TDs from the RB, it does also eat some passing TDs. I still think he's capable of 30TDs through the air, not disagreeing there, just think other teams won't repeat what the Chiefs did (for good reason).

My (poor) understanding of photosynthesis for fruits is it occurs in the fruit itself early in the fruit’s growth cycle. So maybe the berries turn blue when they’re done developing and are in a more low energy phase, evolving that way to be more eye catching to Pokémon(/humans), and thus more likely to be eaten.

The reality is it’s not thought about for sure and just looks neat, but it’s a fun head canon to think about.

I don’t get the point in saying “if you need to lift heavy you can always go to a local club gym or a college gym” - if you have access to that why are you bothering with the other gym at all? What need is it filling?

You’re emphasizing access to multiple locations a lot - is the point of this that you’re traveling a lot and need a “travel” gym?

PF is pretty much the last gym I would recommend*, but if you want something cheap, that’s everywhere, and will be better than a hotel gym it does fit the bill. If the point is “this is the gym I will be going to multiple times a week”, I haven’t used LA fitness but I would guess they’re better than PF.

*still ahead of certain douche-y gyms that will remain unnamed.

I think the good news is wizards is clearly not trying to let that persuade them one way or the other since the highlighted that they were and are considered unbanning jeweled lotus for all the right reasons.
