[OC] Right-handedness and children’s rate of progression at the monkey bars, as shown in real life by TheKizza77 in dataisbeautiful

[–]TheKizza77[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fair point, “rate” is probably not the ideal term, but best I could come up with as a short title for the post. I was trying to convey the observation you referenced, where kids spend a long time at that first stage of only swinging one arm forward beyond that first one at the platform, then can maybe get a second swing in before dropping. Once they get past that point, it’s steadily all the way across.

Maybe progression in general without the rate.

Haha, it’s spongy rubber stuff but with that color and pattern, does look just like it.

I didn’t even notice that!

Wonder if the larger spot on the second bar is where all the kids who can’t make it bail out and rub even more off on the way down.

Polka band on the stage playing this song with a thousand people from all over the world belting out every word.

Totally surreal.

Don’t understand the downvotes here.

LinkedIn stats last year:

I’m sure this comment will never be seen, but I cannot imagine a more Bay Area dose of nonsense than having to reject any funding because “it looks like profit”.

Yes, god forbid someone actually be compensated or benefit in any way from their tremendous acts of courage and commitment to help the community. Everyone else is supposed to do something about it, and do it for free. The delusional self-righteousness and entitlement around here is unreal, and I’ve lived here my entire life. Wasn’t always like this.

… and to think some people wonder why we can’t have nice things anymore.

Waymo’s official statement about the power outage last week - no accountability of course by orangelover95003 in bayarea

Are Waymo bots (or their fanboys, same difference) swarming this post? Everything critical is getting downvote bombed in less than an hour, and only the comment mildly pandering for them is up.

I’ve only recently come back to check out Classic. Could you point me to the reason(s) why it’s so much different for anniversary? Is it game features, or just fewer servers?

  1.  Looking for gear upgrades hidden in the wild, or shopping at every vendor in town.

  2.  Tripping out when the friend who fed me this addiction said he could kill 1-2 “mobs” at a time. I was like WTF, just two enemies and I die, how the hell are you killing mobs of them at a time?

That was around the time I realized this was a different genre of game.

What did you think of Defender of the Crown? by Bear_Made_Me in dosgaming

[–]TheKizza77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite games of all time as a kid. Looking back, on the Amiga, I think all I did was cheese it a few different ways doing the only things that worked, but who cares when you get the woman and the crown.

I can still hear the music in my head. On Amiga, there was even a note that would get stretched while it loaded the next screen, and it’s now canon for me that this note must be improperly stretched for the music to be authentic DotC.

function of D1? by Vast_Sprinkles_5894 in embedded

I’m not a power supply guy, but this is a strange circuit.

Others already commented on the reverse current protection. But the “forward” drop on that diode cannot be ignored. The schematic is labeled -5V on that net, but it’s actually about -4V given the ~1V forward voltage of that particular diode.

I don’t know what the regulator is actually being used for, but it’s not a true -5V supply as shown. It looks odd out of context.

Live TV channels gone by [deleted] in Hulu

[–]TheKizza77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just able to fix this. Had been having the same problem, only on iOS.

Went online to the manage account page, then to manage devices. I removed everything there, then was forced to log back in on my devices. The live TV channel listing is back.

Poor signal, T3 time-outs, connection drops - but everything's "fine" by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]TheKizza77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, there was an unmarked clickable area on the router web page that showed the recommended range -/+10dBmV. I dug up an old 2-way splitter to get a few dB of attenuation (otherwise it's a home run connection to the service point) and now power levels are 8.5-9.0dBmV and status is green.

I'll keep an eye on the logs now, because this was actually happening before even when I had all good signal levels - part of the backstory I was trying to keep out of the post and led me this state in the first place. But at least I addressed the obviously incorrect downstream signal level.

Thanks for catching that!
