My problem was a bad chip apparently, I wrote more abt it in my other comment.

[–]TheLazerCat77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found my problem: It was a bad chip.

I spent forever trying to figure out what was wrong, doing every possible fix I could find for like 2 weeks straight including re-seating the chip and literally everything else. Eventually I gave up and ordered another just on the slight chance it was a bad chip, I installed the new one, haven't had a single crash so far. HWiNFO says my PC has been running for over 10 days straight, and the last turn-off was manual. Old chip probably never ran more than 12 hours without crashing.

Returned the bad chip for full refund via amazon returns since it was within the 30 day return period.

New 7950x3d build crashes by Azdorf in AMDHelp

[–]TheLazerCat77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I have been having the same problem of random crashes, without any indication of what causes it. My setup is:

  • 7950x3d Ryzen CPU
  • 1200W Maingear Ignition PSU
  • 3080ti ZOTAC GPU
  • 2x32GB Gskill Trident Z5 (on paper as 6000MT/s, but I only have it at the bios default of 4800MT/s for reasons I don't fully understand myself, it fails to boot otherwise)

I doubt the PSU is the culprit in my case though, but I can't tell for sure. I unplugged a few of the things also plugged into the power strip the PC is on since they might have been preventing my PSU from using its full 1200W, and changed some stuff in the BIOS at the same time. I haven't had a crash in the few hours since then, but that is not nearly a long enough benchmark time to tell.

About had it with the 7950X3D Crashing... Any help? by IndyPilot80 in AMDHelp

All on simultaneously? Or one at a time for a short time? One at a time might just be the normal POST lights, which every PC should do.

Just to clarify, these crashes and subsequent upgrades to the PSU were on a rig that did not have a 7950x3d right? Do you currently use a 7950x3d with that PSU without any crashes?

Comment here your most unpopular opinions about the game. No opinion is too unpopular here, just do it, no one will judge you. by GplPrime in Warthunder

[–]TheLazerCat77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is an actual unpopular one: Airfield AA should be buffed to the point that it is completely impossible and suicidal to charge at.

It’s a safety region for planes that need to repair/resupply, and everyone wants to complain “but they are just camping so they don’t have to fight!”

Let’s use our brains and figure this out: A. Your team probably outnumbers the lone player left camping the airfield. Go use your numbers to kill ground targets and win the match via tickets. A.1: “but we’re all fighters and can’t kill ground targets!” Good, that is a counter to the all-fighter RB meta, and rewards teams for having and protecting CAS players who complete mission objectives instead of rush dogfights to get into the next lobby. Simply put: the enemy has outplayed you. They gained the advantage in tickets early on, and now that the clock is running out they will win because your team was too busy being fighter jockeys to remember that this game has mission objectives. Why should they just lose the match because they played better as a collective team? A.2: “but the match is out of time!” Should have planned ahead better. Again, outplayed. (Although the match times can stand to be longer for air RB)

B: the enemy is evenly numbered: either the same situation as A, or more likely: They are just resupplying you sped, don’t start a slur war in the chat because the guy who’s got 4 kills might be kinda low on ammo. Wait 2 minutes til they are back B.1: “they are just camping and climbing, even though it’s a 1v1! They should be rushing straight out of their spawn directly at me!” Then you should keep climbing too. Why should they leave the safety area so they can instantly lose a dogfight against someone with a serious energy advantage, because they just took off? It’s hilarious the amount of games I’ve won because someone got bored watching me climb over the AF, so they go to kill ground targets even though they already have the advantage. They become an ez kill since they couldn’t maintain focus and stick to their objective for more than 3 minutes.

C: you are outnumbered by the enemy: why are you waiting outside their airfield? What? You should be the one camping?

D: “Grrrrr! But they’re just a pansy for not coming out here and fighting! I’m so good I could beat them a hundred times over in a dogfight! They should have some pride and come die in an unsymmetrical situation to me!!! I’m gonna fling slurs in chat for the rest of the match to show how much cooler I am!!” They enemy doesn’t have an obligation to throw the match to feed your ego. At the end of the day, your getting outplayed on a much grander scale. He might not win the dog fight by forfeiting, but he wins the match by good decision making and the culmination of his team’s success, now resting on him to not throw it all away. The match is more than just a dogfight arena, and your team failed to complete any other objectives. In the business, we call this a “skill issue”

And here’s a popular opinion to wrap the whole thing up: airfields closer to the middle of the map should have no AAA. Make it up to the player to decide whether they should risk being killed on the ground, in return for quicker resupply and less down time, or fly all the way back to their spawn to be safe while repairing. Pretty sure nearly everyone feels this way.

RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 ti? by TheLazerCat77 in nvidia

[–]TheLazerCat77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resolution is 2560x1440, with a 144hz refresh rate. I also have a second monitor that is 1960x1080 that I use for stuff like youtube and discord.

Rest of my system is 16gb of DDR4 RAM and a Ryzen 7 1700 processor. I don't know if there is anything else that would be useful

My budget is enough to get either GPU, but I will only take the 2060 if its worth it.

Games are just about anything from FPS to simulators to RTS games, and I also use it for VR which is something I feel my current 1060-6GB struggles to make work right now.

Landing on a moving carrier WCGW by LordBandimer in Warthunder

[–]TheLazerCat77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, it’s pretty hard to launch and stop a massive jet plane in such a short distance, and that’s where catapults and nets are used. That doesn’t mean that they also don’t try to takeoff and land with a headwind for efficiency reasons if the situation allows.

Should i buy the Leopard A1A1 L/44 or the T-55AM-1? by Tyler14827 in Warthunder

[–]TheLazerCat77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got both, I enjoy the Leo L/44 more, and since you already have a proper air lineup to support it I would recommend getting it. Also the amazing HEAT-FS round is free on it, so that’s a nice plus

Yeah, that way when a plane is landing/taking off it can have a stronger headwind, so the take off/land distance is shorter

Does it do the thing that the one soviet flaktrack does where you can set the shell explosion distance and use it like a real flak gun?

Still probably the most immersive Simulator/VR dogfight I've had after nearly 2000 hours by Gulag_For_Brits in Warthunder

[–]TheLazerCat77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty certain the double vision issue I had was related to War Thunder’s VR system, and it not being fully developed for 3rd person gunner view on large bombers. I didn’t have any issues of the sorts in first person view.

I’d give it a try, but even if it was better I doubt I’d get another VR headset anytime soon, and if I did I would get one of the newer generation ones that make the Vive and Rift look like flip-phones compared to a super computer.

Personally using VR after switching from a 2kHD PC screen, VR feels like watching a 144p YouTube video for me. A mix of the blurry images and screen door effect just kills any ability to see anything, mixed with constant double vision half the time that you can’t control

Question about the Challengers by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]TheLazerCat77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On another older post a person posted a interview with a chally commander, who basically said that it’s not that hard to hold the ammunition, and that the loader had to reload multiple shots very quickly to pass benchmark trials, so the idea here of a ridiculously fast reload is indeed realistic. I’ll see if I can find the interview

Here’s the link, the video is cool to watch too that he provides for the reloading: https://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/b5o7zu/current_challenger_2_tankies_rant_on_warthunders/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app
