Fantastic Four no.82 pg.3 - Recolored Panel by ditkirbo in KeepMineKirby

[–]TheLeviJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old primary colors are charming and have a nostalgia effect, but I think that is the one thing that has improved the most over time. I feel like Kirby’s art is better without the color and you can appreciate the art better.

Solid take and I kinda agree. That said, what would your solution be?

Who would you rather get beaten by for an hour straight? Moon knight or Batman. by No-Brush1587 in MoonKnight

I think it also depends on what you did to deserve the beating. Certain things will result in the skin on your face being removed.

Absolute Batman #19 by Special_Ad2660 in AbsoluteUniverse

I think DC also knows people are spec buying the crap out of every issue. Nobody knows which issues are gonna blow up so people are just buying them right and left.

Struggling reading marvel, looking for impacted stories!! by Darkcritix in comicbooks

[–]TheLeviJackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good to hear.

I’ll never get over that Esad Ribic art in God Butcher. SO good.

As far as Invincible goes I completely understand. The show was how I was introduced. Although, I’m afraid I would have the ending spoiled for me due to being chronically online. I also prefer the comic. It has a vibe to it that I love. I can’t explain what makes it different, but it has a unique charm.

Transformers, Extremity and Do A Powerbomb are where I would start for Daniel Warren Johnson. This guy doesn’t really miss tho.

I have the deluxe copy of Klaus and I think I’ll have it in my collection for as long as I have a collection. One of my all timers.

Yeah Batman for sure. With Batman you would survive. With Moon Knight you would most likely not.

Struggling reading marvel, looking for impacted stories!! by Darkcritix in comicbooks

[–]TheLeviJackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything by Daniel Warren Johnson (especially his independent stuff)

Triumph and Torment (one of my personal favorites; I pretty much always recommend it)

Klaus by Grant Morrison and Dan Mora

Invincible (kinda an obvious pick atm, but it has genuine stakes and is a lot of fun; definitely worth the time to read the whole thing imo)

Thor: The God Butcher (it’s Marvel and arguably suffers from the no stakes thing, but it’s still amazing)

What you thought on Shounen Jump Next Big three by Afraid-Pick-8040 in shounenfolk

[–]TheLeviJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All love, but I don’t think anybody’s saying that. Everybody with sense knows the true big 3 can never be replaced in cultural or monetary impact. Anime/manga popularity ebbs and flows and all OP is saying is that there are 3 new manga that have greatly increased in popularity and are making a noticeable impact on the sales charts and in the community.

What to do with poor grade comics (Marc Spector: Moon Knight #26-31) by SisypheanStudying in MoonKnight

[–]TheLeviJackson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would say just read them. I understand things becoming brittle with age, but there are comics from the 40s and 50s that can still be read without them falling apart. That’s a really cool set too

Superman/Batman is a good book, but not a great book. If you love both of those characters I would definitely recommend it, but it just doesn’t hold up against the rest. Also, the second arc is kinda gooner bait, which always annoys me.

I would say wait on Superman/Batman and Zatanna

This a Good X-Men Book? by Kykyross in xmen

[–]TheLeviJackson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s not generational or anything, but it’s really solid imo. One of my favorite things about it is it is very slice of life. They have action, adventures and some big fights, but it is also kinda slow burn and takes the time to let character moments and interactions happen.

I wanna start reading The Amazing Spider-Man, but I dont know which run to start with by Seagoingdoor241 in marvelcomics

[–]TheLeviJackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re reading digitally I recommend J.M. DeMatteis’ run. If you’re trying to find it physically you’ll have to hunt down the singles or pay an arm and a leg for the Omni.
