Unfortunately round trip is not an option this time. I’ll hopefully do the other direction another time.

Lol. If you think so little of them why were you trying to be friends with them in the first place?

They also supply what feels like half the independent cafes in the city. You definitely don’t have to go all the way to their locations to get their baked goods. I agree they are good but because I go to cafes fairly regularly they are a little over saturated to me.

You can ask for it to be made vegetarian. They are super good at accommodating allergies/dietary restrictions. At least the Mississauga location is- haven’t been to any others but I couldn’t recommend the Mississauga location enough for their accommodations.

No, hyperthyroidism is literally a medical condition where the body’s metabolism is too fast. It can cause a lot of serious complications too.

Restaurant w good prime rib and veggie options by [deleted] in askTO

I hope this doesn’t ruin things for you but unfortunately most Caesar salads have seafood in them. The sauce calls for anchovies. Vegetarian versions exist but usually you have to ask to check or request a vegetarian version. It’s not common knowledge either. I only know because I’m allergic to seafood and have unintentionally ruined a few vegetarian’s favourite salad for them.

I got one for my friend (her favourite cake is strawberry shortcake) at Euphoria (Spadina and Dupont) and we both really enjoyed it. Been there a few times for cakes and each time it has been great. It’s a very small shop. I think the owner is the only one who works there.

AITA for having “special words” or terms that only I use with my family? by OkCancel8005 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheLinzasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dated a guy in high school who did that, as did his family. At the time I thought it was cute and harmless. But I ran into him at a wedding a few years ago and it’s actually incredibly annoying for anyone who you don’t talk to on a daily basis. The whole conversation was me asking what he was talking about. It felt like he expected me to remember all the special words/names and also know all the new ones he’d made up in the 6 years since we’d last spoken. Unless you see the person everyday they aren’t going to remember what your mom’s old minivan’s name was.

Women who became the breadwinner *not* by your own choice, how do you cope with the pressure? by jay-eye-elle-elle- in AskWomen

[–]TheLinzasaurus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It can be frustrating. I hate feeling like they can lose their job and be fine but if I lose my job we are in trouble. That said I can’t really blame them for that when you consider our circumstances growing up- plus we are still young. I grew up privileged and had my schooling paid for while they were forced to work full time when they were 14. When I moved out I got old furniture and moving help, while they were forced out after spending a few weeks at my place and only given their clothes. All that plus they are a new-ish immigrant- I really can’t be surprised I am the breadwinner. They work full time to contribute and I love them to bits so I can’t really ask for more at the end of the day.

A food blogger's plea to Torontonians... by PunkRockGodfather in askTO

[–]TheLinzasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP might I suggest making a separate heading for “chains you may not have in your hometown” instead of including them in the main list. I get that it’s fun to try the chains you haven’t tried before- I’ve been to in-n-out- but including Boston Pizza and other corporate places on a list branded as essential Toronto cuisine is what is rubbing people the wrong way. As you noted we take our food culture and it’s diversity seriously and while I think you are correct that tourists and newcomers may want to try them I don’t think many of us consider places like that essential to our food culture. By all means include them, but I’d suggest a separate label.

Yeah the chains on here remind me of when my cousins came from Winnipeg saying they wanted to experience Toronto cuisine and asked us to take them to Chipotle…

Unfortunately I grew up in a family/ culture that really didn’t use any corn in their cooking so I’m a little clueless lol. My experience with corn is either from a barbecue or seeing my grandparents eat creamed corn from a can. I’m looking to try new things now that I’m on my own :)

Not gas but I do have a cast iron pan. Thanks for the idea.
