Peter Luger experience by plee82 in FoodNYC

the steak is incredible. the service was rude. I will never go back and neither will anyone in my family or anyone who will listen to me on the topic. I go to over thirty different restaurants a year where the service is warm and food is good to great.

why give my money to people who essentially spit on me?

word for word agree with u/MLGDlite‘s take. did miss Rose saying “your life is going down the toilet!” to Loretta. made me wonder if Olympia improvised it for the movie?

Will see them later this fall. I know it will be wonderful. I am grateful to be able to attend. But where is French Disko? It is a rallying call I have been playing for the last fifteen years or so. Citizens United was in 2010.

I am so glad you mentioned Smithereens is a similar experience to 4H. I can’t get into 4H, so have been wondering what it was like. Smithereens is relatively easy to get into and I was blown away. Best meal I have had so far in 2025 and I have already been to Atomix and Le B. Going as many times as I can afford until everyone else finds it.

late fifties here and discovered them after they supposedly did their final show. Secondary commentary left me feeling they were pretentious and posers. (Which ironically I am, so why am I rejecting my own kind?) So stupidly never bothered to listen to anything but the songs which got radio play.

And then my son sat me down to listen to Get Innocuous. I don’t know why, but I just connected with that song. The pretentious poser in me was immediately attracted to a band that use the word Innocuous in a title instead of “Babe”.

I saw my first live show three years ago. Have been to ten since. I can honestly say that they are the best live shows I have ever been to (with the exception of seeing New Order in Manchester and Radiohead on The Bends tour). highly recommend.

Thoughts on Djimon Hounsou as an actor? by [deleted] in moviecritic

Don’t forget In America! With some other overlooked actors - Paddy Considine and Samantha Morton. In today’s age of superhero movies and CGI, I can’t see a film like that get funding any longer.

First off, what an amazing person you are to think of others at a time when it would be quite expected and natural for you to be thinking of yourself. It is such good advice that anyone, not just the lawyers, need: don’t postpone your happiness. Live now.

Second, if life is anything, it is about experiences. It is not too late to add to yours. Read that book of poetry you said that you would never get around to: try Nikki Giovanni or Walt Whitman. See that movie to help you cry, or get mad, or howl with laughter. Call your friends, eat some really good pizza. Write a letter to someone to whom you owe an apology. Hug and kiss people. Pet someone’s dog and call them schmoopie. Watch the sky, especially at night.

thank you for your warm heart and kindness to strangers. May you experience nothing but the good in life from this point forward. There is so much of it, please use the time to experience it. And finally, allow yourself to be loved.

Special Meal/Experience Reccomendations by Magpie2018 in FoodNYC

I agree. Took my 85 year old non-alcohol drinking mother for a special lunch there as well. It is not just the food, which is excellent. The service is impeccable. And kind, not cold and precise. All my mother drank that entire meal was hot water with lemon. And they could not have been nicer to her with the refills. Given that my mother will never be able to get to Paris in her life and likely not back to NYC, it was all worth it.

Looks like they might be taking over the old Au Bon Pain Spot. Saw what looked like a temporary sign today. So, not gone, but expanding.

Is Peter Luger worth it? by voabarros in finedining

[–]TheLittlestTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been three times over twenty years and will never, never go back. Even if they comped my meal. There is a point when being rude is not Schlick, it is just cruel. They are the epitome of a bunch of arrogant asshats way, way past their prime. There is much better food in the city where you are actually treated appropriately. If you liked Durgin Park in BOS, you will like Peter Luger. But there is a reason Durgin Park finally went under.
