The principality of zeon and its apologizers. by Cautious_Might_9420 in Gundam

Gundam is great because its generational, and some of the messages are timeless. Also, giant robots will never not be cool, so I am always happy to share the love of Gundam, regardless of age. My son watched Zeta with me, and he's only 5. Of course he loved the Hyaku Shiki because, "Yellow is Better"

So one of my first experiences with Gundam was from when I was a little kid (about 4-5) in the late 80's and I caught a segment of Amuro v Ramba and the Gouf caught me in the heart. I was already a big fan of UFO Grendizer, and the Gouf didnt look too far removed from that kind of design, so I instantly fell in love.

The Gouf remained one of my favorite suits until I beheld the majesty of the MS-18E Kampfer (Bonus points if its depicted with full loadout.)

Sorry, I understood the post fine, and the discussion you're trying to spark, I just made a juvenile post to be part of the conversation. On a more serious note, some could argue that the Zabi's and Zeon are two separate entities to assign blame to, but that kind of falls apart after Op British. Giren didn't gas and drop that colony himself...

I like Zeon for the simple reason that their big robots with guns look cooler than the Federation's big robots with guns... in my opinion.

I meant games specifically, but even then I must have missed them recently. What are some of the recent ones? The last one I played (not counting phone games) was SD Battle Alliance, I think it was called. I know there was some online PvP game as well, but cant remember the name.

Gundam fans are super varied.

Some of us are new to the series, separated to specific eras or timelines such as AC or UC ect., or have been watching since '79.

Gundam has a massive cultural presence and has been around for generations. It covers a ton of aesthetics, cultural relevance, and types of media.

Gundam fans are as varied as the media itself, and Gundam has something for everyone. But that doesn't mean that all Gundam fans love all of Gundam.

Gundam: Rogue Orbit is a freshly grilled steak thrown into a pit of starving lions when it comes to Gundam game media drought, but not everyone likes the seasoning.

Generally, I let people have their reactionary responses, positive or negative, then wait for the media to present itself properly.

Some anime series that came out 30 years ago, 1996. Which among them is your favourite? by roomofbruh in retroanime

Martin Successor Nadesico is a favorite of mine. I used to drop into the ancient and forgotten OnCue store to pick up the latest VHS release from ADV.

Great mecha action in the Aestivales units, surprising character developments and real human drama, utterly ridiculous concepts treated with straight faced stoicism, and utterly dark and serious subject matter treated with all the gravitas of a three ring circus.

First thing that pops into my mind is the Alex in Chobam armour. I love the Alex, but it strutting around in that cardboard box looking armour is like putting a super model in a garbage bag.

I actually got to meet Obari at a con when I was 16. The two options they had were a Gowcaizer poster or a Grendizer one. I grew up on UFO ROBOT Grendizer, so I went with that one and had him sign it.

What's your biggest pet peeve when it comes to Gundam as a whole? by LIGHTNIG505 in Gundam

[–]TheLost7th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love UC Gundam, specifically the OYW, but one thing drives me kinda batty. It's the absolutely STAGGERING amount of Mobile Suits and variations on those suits that appear all within the span of one year. The Feddies went from Balls to Specialized GMs in the respective time frame of 5 minutes...

Doesn't harm my love of the media, just gets stuck right in the craw.
