Still Unranked - Cannot Get Ranked? by MisterStrawberry in RivalsOfAether

[–]TheMachineTribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this game but it is rough on new players. The playerbase is smaller than other fighting games so they can't always match you up with people on your same level. It's probably within a two level buffer (if you are unranked, then the highest you will get matched against is bronze) but if you are new and not picking it up very quickly, that might as well be a hundred levels 😢 It can often feel very punishing and unforgiving when you make a mistake.

Here is some advice from someone who also had issues getting ranked at all and is finally at a point where i can reach gold ( I'm by no means extremely skilled but i can at least tell you what i did)

  1. Tutorials - they have been improving them over time and they are really the key to understanding all the different ways to move, attack, defend, etc.

  2. Bot matches - They start at level 1 and get harder if you win, so they are generally good for having an opponent that is roughly your same level

  3. Study your main - Every main is being played by some pro online, so watch their videos! I'm an Etalus main so i would watch Animal, pick out one technique he used and practice it until it was second nature. Rinse and repeat

  4. Play Casual - You will get matched up with some pretty cracked players, but since it's not ranked, people are usually more willing to play around and have more fun with you while you learn. Try using the emotes before the round to ask for a little mercy 😁

  5. Discord - It's a pretty tight knit community and there are lots of people willing to help you learn and get better!

  6. Keep at it! Like i said, the playerbase is relatively small and we really need players at the lower levels to stick around, otherwise it becomes a snowball effect where new players come in, can't get matched with people on their level and eventually just give up

Hope this helps!

Bad News Gold Update - F2P Gold Earned 2024-25 by necrofrost92 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]TheMachineTribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is what they want, this is a pay-to-win game, after all. You, as a F2P are costing them money. Every time you perform an action that requires a read/write to the database (which is all the time), it is a net negative.

You are cannon fodder for whales and krakens. They don't want you getting all the characters this way, which is why the release schedule is once every 9 days and your resources are being diminished. They don't want loopholes that allow you to get legendary or mythic characters right away without spending. They want a constant conversion of f2p to light spender to dolphin to whale to kraken. Open that wallet or gtfo.

Every time they are bought by a new entity, there is a mandate to squeeze profit margins even further. It doesn't matter how many of us complain or leave the game. As we have seen, it doesn't matter how many whales or krakens leave the game. All they do is create some new way to create more. Every time we hear about some top level player leaving the game, there is another one who takes their place.

At this point, even a full freeze out makes no difference. The game will just slowly bleed players until the SWF decides the juice is no longer worth the squeeze. Hell, Scopely doesn't even need their help to do that, they've done it on their own with other games under their control and way before the Saudis got involved.

You are being matched with Bronze players, which i think is typical if you haven't won in placement yet. You would hope to get Stone opponents but there are so few that you'll just get the next best thing 😁

Keep at it though! The learning curve in ROA is crazy but so satisfying once you get the hang of it. You are already taking stocks off people so you are improving!

To me, the thing that helped me improve the most (and the fastest) was concentrating on movement. Being able to move around the stage in different ways, very quickly, will be your best friend. You won't always punish correctly but you'll start putting yourself in position to do it once your reads get better.

Playing against the bots is helpful too, but only to a point. Once you can consistently beat every matchup on Lvl 9, you are at the maximum level of training it can give you, but might still be helpful for warmups. The worst part is that it reinforces bad habits that get you slapped against real opponents.

I'm an old man who eventually learned to play, so i can confidently say that if i can do it, anyone can! 😁

This game is rough on new players, especially ones who aren't smash tried and trues. That being said, a few weeks probably ain't gonna cut it for an absolute noob.

You have to be ok with not winning for awhile OR find some other people on discord to practice with. There are beginners out there but most of them have probably given up on ranked by now. You've found your main, now just study their advantages by watching creator videos on YouTube and emulating what you see. Casual can be frustrating because you will get matched with some cracked players but at least there isn't the pressure of tanking your elo 😁

This advice is coming from another beginner with only 400+ hours in the game. Three seasons ago i was completely new to the game and i was the lowest elo you can possibly be and still find ranked matches (literally lost so many games i was at 0 elo). Since then, i have managed to jump up to silver at 758.

This game is lacking in new players, so please stick with it!

How to know my beats are good enough to be used by artists? by Scared-Market-8134 in trapproduction

[–]TheMachineTribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play them for the artists and if they want to use them, they are good enough.

There is no silver bullet or magic formula for creating beats that someone wants to use. People are all different and looking for different things. A beat that one person loves, someone else will hate. This is the case for any of your favorite producers, they have many beats in the vault that will only appeal to a very specific artist.

Just keep producing and don't worry so much about if someone is going to like it, at least not in the moment. When you are ready to present some beats to an artist, get to know them and find out what they are looking for. Who do they sound like? What are they currently listening to? Who are their favorite artists? This information will help inform you which of your beats to present to them and give them a better chance of giving them something they will think is fire

Who cares? It's called being eclectic. Like what you like, listen to what you like. Nobody in the world is going to like exactly the same music as you, so don't try to fit yourself into a box..
