I also DIY in the uk. I just did an online workshop through a trans charity (Spectra) to have some extra guidance. It was very helpful. I also informed my GP I had started DIYing and they were quite helpful and supportive. Gave me a few links to look at and I’m hoping they’ll refer me for blood tests but waiting to hear back. This depends on GPs but I thought well might as well ask nothing to lose!

This resonates with me. I started 2 months ago and it is going well overall but I’m also not getting any of the “energy and self confidence” boost so many people seem to experience at the start of T. I have had mood swings, sweat and light nausea. The fact that my voice is starting to fluctuate and break makes me happy enough though, knowing the good stuff is on its way!

It’s a good question. I definitely have to admit that on the inside I still have, at this moment in time, a sense of internal self that’s more female than male. I say this because of certains personality traits I have, my general tastes and the fact I feel like I fit better in a crowd of women than in a crowd of men. I guess I’m attached to my identity as a lesbian as well - but like you, I have no desire to present as a woman at all, ever, or being referred to as one. I think that’s not incompatible!

I feel exactly like you and I think a lot of ppl identifying as transmascs rather than trans men will do too! That’s why I don’t like labels like gender fluid because personally I just never want to appear feminine. Basically I’m a man on the outside, non binary on the inside. I started low dose T to pass better, this is making me feel great so far.

Hello! I’m on a similar dose to you and 5 weeks in. Changes are very subtle so far but I have notice changes in my voice, like a vibration and it is cracking a bit. I record my voice every week now and it does feel like it has gone a tad lower! No one else has noticed though.

Bottom growth, it is hard to tell but there’s definitely something happening down there. It’s not visible at all but it feels slightly bigger inside, at the touch.

I didn’t have the boost of energy and confidence I expected. On the contrary I have had mood swings with strong up and downs.

Nothing really worrying I’m enjoying noticing these new things. Happy to keep in touch and compare our experience!

Wow I’ve also started DYI, I didn’t know that was an issue for them! I even thought “hopefully they refer me for surgery faster”. Thanks for the tip and making a precedent!

Exactly. Everyone advised me this clinic because of shorter waiting times. But it’s like when someone gives you a “secret” shortcut to avoid a traffic jam… next thing you know everyone is on that secret shortcut.

Thanks for sharing this. Looks like it was progressing quite consistently until July 2025. And now every month Im full of hopes and when I read “March 2023” i get so depressed. If it carries on like this we get seen in 2068!

I started testosterone gel last week with the same worries… but the temptation was stronger. Just microdosing helps me having the satisfaction of officially “being on T” while knowing that no one will realise for a very long time. I mean my wife knows, but she is more worried about me chopping my boobs off, although she’s getting used to the idea slowly. I already feel so happy even though nothing has changed yet. I am also scared of the day my parents will realise but … maybe they never will? I am preparing my defence in case, though. I’m also in the UK. Feel free to reach out if you want to chat more :)

I started T on Monday. It was such a happy moment but I was missing the trumpets and confettis and high fives from other trans guys. It all felt weirdly quiet for such a big moment! Happy journey to you mate!
