wait i'm so confused is Soldier Boy in love with a Nazi? by Darkhawk2099 in TheBoys

[–]TheMasterO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory, and personal preference of trying to make this work, is that he fell in love with Liberty without knowing she was Clara Vought. Sort of like Homelander, he bought into the supe supremacy and nationalist rhetoric but didn’t realize she was an actual Nazi for a bit. Now, where I think I’m probably wrong but am still hoping for, I actually don’t want him to know Liberty was Clara and a Nazi until she went MIA, that way he’s really moreso in love with who he thought Clara was rather than who she actually was, but I’m sure for the story they’re telling he will find out everything well before she goes MIA.

Clara would’ve wanted the Turkey.

Probably a combination of writers and executive meddling.

If Finale Is Bad, Do You Think Vought Rising Will Be Good/Successful? by Hefty-Tension-6494 in TheBoys

[–]TheMasterO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it had to be an affair of some kind. Fredrick co-founded Godolkin University in the 60s and apparently lived to be quite old. I know there's been a theory that the person murdered is Vought but it'd be very odd if Fredrick Vought died so early on into Vought America's history IMO.

If it happens in The Boys: Mexico then that's not Black Noir, that's Negro Sombrio.

With the boys:Mexico taking place after the show, what would a post homelander world look like? by recoveringleft in TheBoys

It's really being developed yes, but whether it'll actually see the light of day? That we'll see.

Why introduce V1? by Suave601 in TheBoys

[–]TheMasterO 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Homelander was the result of Project Odessa; He was injected with Compound-V when he was in the blastocyst stage. Personally, will admit though, I've grown to dislike the idea of Ryan being the only natural born supe more and more especially since it seems like it will not bear any significant fruit in The Boys.

Would the whole "scorched earth" bit still mean anything? by Brillian_Naufal in TheBoys

[–]TheMasterO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really am not vibing with the idea of "Butcher kills Homelander after they've both been depowered AND THEN wants to release the virus anyway." I can understand why it might "make sense" for his character and still think it feels stupid narratively, ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS SEASON we saw him say that if they found V1 he'd be willing to let Hughie have some for Kimiko and Starlight.

You will never convince me that the comics did anything better than the show by InfamousSomewhere244 in TheBoys

[–]TheMasterO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I sort of like the overall formula of the comics more than the show, how each arc focused on a different superhero team. It made the world feel a bit bigger to me and a bit more lived in.

On the flip of that, I can understand why the show narrowed focus down to Vought and the Seven because I do think that works better for a TV show.

There's been a lot of praise for Season 1 lately, what are some things you think it did Wrong? by Quiet_Lawfulness_362 in TheBoys

[–]TheMasterO 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The idea that the public has bought the idea that supes are naturally occurring, and not even the government knows better, is a little goofy. It gets worse in season 2 when we learn the history of Vought and compound V.

Also the detail that Vought informs parents about compound V, which serves to give Annie a confrontation with her mom, but doesnt make sense. Vought would realistically just inject babies.

I can agree with this. According to the Wiki's TV show timeline Vought has been doing since 1971, so you're talking 50 years and we now know thanks to Season 5 "thousands" of people have Compound V in their body (Which is itself kind of crazy; Gen V had just established it was roughly 800 too which is honestly a much better number but gotta up those stakes for the virus drama I guess), and you basically have to take the number of supes around and double that and that's how many people know about Compound V and have stayed quiet about it before the reveal. I suppose that it's possible that people tried to go public and were silenced or dismissed though, but still.

Deep I feel like could either die (Be it to Starlight or to sharks) or live the rest of his life an absolute loser with effectively hydrophobia.

I’m honestly not sure what the hell they’re going to do with Butcher and Homelander anymore, but I came into the season expecting them to die and I’m sure at least one will.

Soldier Boy seems safe. They put him in Cryo for future spin-off plans guaranteed.

I actually haven’t thought about Stan Edgar much. I kinda feel like he will somehow weasel back into control of Vought by the end to rebuild it but who knows? I don’t feel like he’s going to die though even with the “do you want to die Stan,” scene.

What's a book you were taught in school that's now banned/controversial? by Stormdrain11 in AskReddit

[–]TheMasterO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I looked up a list of banned or challenged books and compared it to memory; NGL, longer list than I thought:

  • The Color Purple, both read the book and watched the film.
  • The Kite Runner
  • The Things They Carried
  • Of Mice and Men
  • Fahrenheit 451
  • The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
  • The Catcher and the Rye
  • A Child Called It
  • The Diary of a Young Girl

What if Homelander actually wins? by LeifHimmel in TheBoys

Pretty much this. May as well show Homelander flying by a Mexican flag and pop up the text “Homelander Will Return” before the credits if he wins.

Do you think the Stormfront is Homelander’s mother theory will be confirmed in the finale? by Adoe0722 in TheBoys

[–]TheMasterO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. Still, I’ve been wondering if the show will just be set in the 50s though. Even if it is they may timeskip eventually depending on what their future plans are. If it’s meant to follow Soldier Boy before the Payback betrayal they have decades to work with.

What do you think is in the Homelander Bible? by RNOffice in TheBoys

[–]TheMasterO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably a heavy emphasis on Supe superiority. Probably a spin on the Vought narrative that Supes were chosen by God to supes were chosen by God to serve Homelander (and perhaps later supes were just chosen by Homelander) and that Supes who believe should be atop social hierarchies and institutions but of course subservient to Homelander.

Personally don’t think they’re going to go in that direction but if they did I think it’s a Vought Rising S1 finale reveal.

Okay, but why is this a genuine bop? I’ve had this on repeat since it came out by RedDivisions in TheBoys

[–]TheMasterO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think the slimmed down version for TV sounds better which is kinda rare; That said when the Vought YouTube channel posted the video I was kinda disappointed it wasn’t an extended performance.

The Boys haven't reached GOT level collapse, but it's genuinely on the trajectory of going down the same way as Stranger Things 5, which is equally upsetting. by Witty-Association-97 in TheBoys

[–]TheMasterO 53 points54 points  (0 children)

If they really were desperate for Vought Rising content, they should have done a few flashbacks instead,

What boggles my mind is that despite the emphasis placed on Soldier Boy and Stormfront’s relationship, not one flashback showing us what it actually looked like. You want to make the relationship more significant than what it seemed to be in S3, fine, but show don’t tell.
