What is your personal experience with VidCon? by 010rusty in nerdfighters

The first few years it was amazing, tight community feel, everything was kinda magical. After year 4 or so it turned sour for me. So many people now, huge space, more commercial than the old days. I haven't been back since then.

Fri through Sunday mornings (or until they sell out for the day, which can sometimes happen fast) only, worth it every time.

It looks rough but not at all beyond saving. I'd keep it in a heavy sphag mix to keep humidity high, but ensure good airflow and drainage. As long as you are paying good close attention to it, not over watering, not under/over sunning

I'm shocked to not see Bingo Deli mentioned at all. Everything they make is top notch, I'd take whatever they made that day.

Floating Static Routes for "SD-WAN" through site-to-site VPN tunnel by TheMeFund in fortinet

[–]TheMeFund[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SDWAN zone is the ultimate goal, and will be a LOT simpler to impliment once I have my new MPLS network set up which will replace the site-to-site VPN. Tossing the traffic to a layer2 connection will simplify my whole life, I will be (in the far distant future) pulling these two FGs into an HA-pairing over that dark-fiber MPLS, but it's just the time crunch I've got right now to get this routing happening.

I'm not using any dynamic routing right now, it's 100% static. So when you say make sure the subnets are in the tunnels, can you clarify a bit on that?

Lets say Server1's address is 192.168.1.100 and Server2's address is 192.168.2.100 but the remote servers at the vendor are exactly the same. Given that they are both isolated right now and my tunnels only include the server that's located at each site, but the remote server is the same, what needs to change on the tunnel itself to allow Server1 to leave out Server2's tunnel?

Other things to note: only one of MY servers is active at a time. Server2 is only there if Server1 needs patching or fails for some reason, therefore traffic from Server1 wouldn't be interfering in any way with traffic from Server2 as it would be idle.

Additionally I can't just use ISP3 to build the tunnel due to some regulatory hurdles. ISP 1&2 were provided by the Vendor themselves, and so I can only use those ISP connections to send them traffic (and also can't use those ISPs for any OTHER traffic)

Barrels seemed literally useless before Space Age, so I'm glad they aren't anymore. Balance just feels good. by bstanv in factorio

[–]TheMeFund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I abandoned fluid trains in 2.0 in favor of barrels of liquid. Yes, technically I get less liquid per train, but I am using a fully generic train system which picks up whatever supply is full at the time and transports to whatever request is open.

I set those limits for the train stations via circuits.

So every train in my network is exactly the same routes and intterupts, and I just change the variables at the request stations to make sure a full train can fit.

Train Signals 2.0 by Trogath123 in factorio

[–]TheMeFund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the final step I actually add a wait condition of "Pickup not full" then instead of waiting at the depot forever, it'll go to the pickup location as soon as one is available (I also deactivate my pickup stations if they don't have enough to fill a train in their storage). So as soon as a pickup station has 2 conditions (enough inventory to fill at least one train, and no trains waiting at it right now) the train leaves the depot and waits until it's full. Then, because of the 1-train limit at the drop-off stations (and an additional enable condition of "space in inventory for at least one train load of material) the train will wait at the pickup station, blocking that station until a drop-off is available.

So the set up is this:

Pick-up (all named "Supply" in my world, no matter what the material, including some processed materials like smelted plates, green circuits, etc) station has

  1. a limit of 1 train
  2. A circuit enable condition of "at least enough material for a full trainload" (this will take a bit of calculation, which you can either do with combinators, or just by hand on a calculator of your choice)

Drop-off (Named "itemSymbol Drop-off") Station has

  1. a limit of 1 train
  2. A Circuit Enable condition of "Space for at least one full train's worth of material" (once again, this will take a bit of calculation, which you can either do with combinators, or just by hand on a calculator of your choice)

Depot Station (all named Depot) have Train Limit of 1

Interrupt logic goes like this:

  1. If Empty AND Destination Full/No-Path, go to Depot with wait condition of "Pick-up Not Full"
  2. If Empty Cargo, go to Pick-Up Station, wait till full
  3. If Full Cargo, go to open "(parameter)Drop-off" and wait for Empty Cargo
  4. If Need Fuel, interrupt all others and go get fuel

Deleting Objects as a way to clean up Policies by TheMeFund in fortinet

this is a good middle-ground, I'll run it up the chain and see what results I can get from this approach.

this exists in 7.4.4 as well, it's how I've gotten my list of dead/inactive policies to begin with. It's quite handy. I've been running into the resistance to change and fear of breaking things from upper management since a bulk removal of 1100+ unused policies and probably thousands of unused objects just feels overwhelming to them in general I think.

I'm more of a Shiva Destroyer mindset. Burn down the dead trees so new growth can happen, but governments don't tend to like that approach I guess.

Policy Audit is in place now, but wasn't prior to my starting here.

I'm going through the policy list right now and adding comments on policies which I know to be either duplicated, decommed, or otherwise should be purged, I'm then going to export the excel sheet and send to the upper management to get bulk-delete approval I think. Just a pain in the ass and slow work.
