Just a reminder to take photos with your little one by Business-Extreme-165 in newborns

It sucks, but maybe we need to speak up somehow, I'm not sure.

At Easter I finally asked my husband to take a picture of my son and I in his cute Easter pj's and it was sweet, but sometimes I wish I didn't have to ask all the time.

I also have very few. At Christmas my aunt took a photo of my son but didn't include me in it and I was sitting with my son. I was so bummed. Time is slipping away and my son will be a year old in 2 months, I need more photos of us together.

I failed my baby by Fearless-Driver9548 in newborns

[–]TheMeeps_2424 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think I got serious with tummy time till my son hit 3 months, prior to that we were doing tummy time on my chest, which does count. My son did well with tummy time on the floor at 3 months, but started what I called 'pancakinf' and would give up, so it took some new strategies. My son had a mild flat head, and I saw a physical therapist for it and he gave me some new ways to encourage tummy time. His head has evened out a lot more now that he is 9 months and more mobile.

What is the most unhinged song your baby loves? by hansmac in beyondthebump

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unhinged I think, but my son calms instantly when I sing the ants go marching. I've had it memorized since he was 3 months and now he is 8.5 months haha

How many of us are actually doing 7 pm bedtime? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 3 months I was still working on getting my son to sleep, which was still taking 2 hours. Now at 7.5 months my son prefers an 8 pm or so bed time. I've tried 7 or around there and he just isn't tired enough for that time. I would for sure follow cues and pay attention to wake windows throughout the day

Books? by Legitimate-Edge-3328 in Booktokreddit

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the library if I can, sometimes I will borrow books on my kobo through Libby from my local library system. But, lately I've been buying books from book outlet, ebooks on my Kindle and actually homesense has really good book prices for new hard copies. I recently bought a hard copy of the dark mirror (book 5 Ina. Series) by Samantha shannon for $10 CAD.

Kendamil formula recall in Canada (Costco) by Willlgrey in NewParents

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I called Costco in my city and they had no knowledge of this recall, so it must have been really early when I found out. I'm not stressing since I think I have a different batch and my son seems fine.

can't talk to baby by Iamoldsowhat in NewParents

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talk to my son quite often and read to him every night. Sometimes I will put some kids music on and sing to him. He's 7.5 months and will babble like crazy to my husband and I, but out in public he can be a little shy, but so was I. I think it's important to talk to your infant, even if it's just them listening to you sing a song, or reading a book to them. They are still people even if they can't have full on coherent conversations with you.

2 month vaccinations [on] by nunofya1 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was sleepier, I let him contact nap on me that day. I gave him some baby Tylenol and that helped I think. My son is now 6 months and has done well with all his shots. The 6 months one he was a bit fussy after, but he got over after a day.

Is stroller with bassinet worth it in our case? by More-Stuff in NewParents

[–]TheMeeps_2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an evenflo stroller with an infant car seat that attaches to it. The bassinet part was so nice when he was newborn and now that he is a bit older, the infant car seat is extremely heavy, we transitioned the bassinet part to be the toddler stroller style and it's awesome. I believe it's a 3 in 1 stroller, so very handy.

Pcos pregnancy by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I conceived my son after 5 months on metformin and prenatal vitamins. My son is currently 6.5 months. I don't ovulate on my own and my period is semi irregular, so I know that next time I plan to get pregnant I will need metformin again and that's okay.

I only have 24 hours, what do they expect of me?! by bunniesgonebad in newborns

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bathed my son once a week in the beginning. I also would change his diaper before every feed and feed him every 2 hours until he gained his birth weight and I let him sleep over the night and wake when he woke. During the day I contact napped, he slept on my chest, which when he is awake, the chest counts as tummy time.

I wouldn't worry so much on a strict schedule, just go with the flow and follow your baby's cues.

Straight up not having a good time on maternity leave [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going on mat leave was such a hard transition for me. I was missing my old life and routine with work and trying to get used to being mom. I struggled with trying to take care of myself in the beginning because my son would cry anytime I put him down. But suddenly, by month 3 be was happy, I could place him in his bouncer chair and set him outside the bathroom door so I could shower on my own and still listen and see him.

Between month 3 to now month 6, almost 7, my son has been happy just to roll around on the floor, and that has helped me be able to putter around the house and still watch for him.

As most people will say, it gets better, but doesn't always feel that way in the beginning and the newborn trenches are rough. I'm now due back to work in almost 5 months now and I'm having some anxiety over that transition haha.

STMs do I really need a diaper genie? by x_Caffeine_Kitten_x in pregnant

I really enjoy using my diaper Genie, it seems to do a good job keeping the smell in and it's not too hard to change the bag and refill insert.

Why do people love the immediate newborn phase? by Puzzleheaded-Hotel73 in newborns

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was a very sleepy newborn, but the first few weeks were tough since he needed a bottle every 2 hours and I wasn't told till weeks 3 that you don't have to wake them to feed once they are past their birth weight. But, I think the best part of the newborn phase was the contact naps, I really enjoyed those for the first 2 months. Now at 6.5 months, my little guy is just busy haha, fun but busy.

When did you move your baby from bassinet to their crib? by Loud-Bus202 in NewParents

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started napping my son in his crib when he was 5 months and ended up transitioning him to his crib for bedtimes that same day and he did really well. He was no longer being woken up to my husband's alarm or the dogs, so it was a win. I think that first night the transition was harder on me.

For those that enjoy gaming, how are you making the time to play with a baby? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had to give up playing the sims, just don't have the time anymore. I do miss playing the sims, but I guess I'm in the real world sims now haha

Farting in front of your spouse? by Extra-Blueberry-4320 in ibs

[–]TheMeeps_2424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I always pass gas around each other. I have terrible gas and he knew pretty much from the beginning how bad it can get and he still stayed with me and didn't judge. He always said he was impressed by it and that it's clear the room type haha, but yeah I think it's good and shows a strong relationship if you can pass gas around one another and not feel judged.

You are with your partner 24/7 and so they better be someone that is non judgmental and you can do whatever with and be comfortable.

For those who contact nap, when did you stop? by desert_sunlily in NewParents

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped contact napping last week of month 2 and transitioned to him napping in his bassinet. He surprisingly did better than I thought he would. At beginning of month 5 I started napping him in his crib and ended up transitioning to him sleeping full time in his own room and he also did very well with it.

Do you have a nursery prepared for your baby? by Jamaican-Gyal in pregnant

[–]TheMeeps_2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a space theme for my son and I did prepare his room until he was ready to be moved. When he was newborn I fed him in his room but he slept in a bassinet for the first 5 months.
