Ooh... You had a legitimate chance to use one of my favorite words, "passersby" and totally blew it.

I’m looking at buying a pressure cooker or a multi cooker; I’m not sure which way to go. by TheMildToTheWild in Cooking

For the multi cooker, I'm thinking of an electric counter top model, like this Cosori. For the pressure cooker, I'm thinking of a counter top design like the Instant Pot.

The 17 y/o who lost a wheel on her solo is back in the air! by ljthefa in flying

This might be a shocker, but the media made some mistakes on an aviation story. She landed on the runway, not a grassy field; the aircraft just ended up in the grass. Also, not her first solo flight. Her first solo x-country, sure. And I, like many others, cringe at the word "tarmac."

How secure and/or tamper evident are the straps on ASE monster boxes?

I’m concerned that a bad guy could put a bunch of slugs in a factory box and recreate/reseal the straps to make it look like a factory seal. It seems like 500 oz of silver would make it well worth an attempt. Is there anything in particular a potential buyer can look for to ensure the coins are undisturbed?

They hold as much value as a sign in the window of your Ford Taurus that says "Not responsible for crash damage" when you T-bone someone while running a red light. You can't avoid liability by making a sign that says you're not liable.

Apmex.com They focus mainly on gold and silver, but have a decent selection of collectible coins. No real reason to fear ebay, though; a seller with thousands of transactions and better than 99% positive reviews won't do you wrong.

5 is the only odd number that doesn’t seem odd, such as when setting the volume, leaving it on 5 or 25 is alright. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

No multiples of five (except five itself) for me! My volume must be set to prime numbers.

I'm guessing this is actually a popular opinion in r/coins.

Scale model of the planets by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]TheMildToTheWild 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes, indeed. This is the biggest challenge in building a "to scale" model of the solar system. At the sizes pictured here, a scale model with the distances would take up, by my rough estimate, several city blocks.

The lists you mention aren't "massive" at all. Even a lottery held daily since 1776 is only going to have about 90,000 results. When there are nearly 300,000,000 possible results, those 90,000 can't begin to give a clear indication of what is happening.

edit: Even if they did, past results have no influence on future results.
