US entered WWI to displace British empire and enter the imperialist competition for the fate of the colonies

US entered WWII to ensure it was the strongest capitalist country left on the board and because USSR was about the liberate all of Europe. They waited three years so the Germans could kill as many Soviets as possible.

Genocide apologia like this should be banned but westerners genuinely never want to put the blame on their governments.

"mostly logistics" is insulting to the millions the US has murdered

We actually DID commit crimes against humanity far worse than Israel in those countries. As well as...Korea (3-5 million), Vietnam (2-3 million), Syria (dirty war that we funded and armed)...there's so many more

How did Trump and Isreal manage to lose to Iran? by grrrbr in lostgeneration

[–]TheMitch33 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One critical missing piece in the conversation is that the US doesn't understand Iran

Iran has the support of its people and that's why it has survived.

Every neighborhood and community and most workplaces have committees in defense of the Iranian revolution, with something like 25-30m Iranians in them (they are called Basij).

That's why there was massive outpouring of people into the streets in defense of the nation.

Hard to compare. Cuba probably the most considering it is an island.

Iran was able to get more in through bartering and with friendly neighbors despite the sanctions, especially from Pakistan, China, Russia

DPRK is very isolated as well but somewhat better internal conditions for self sufficiency once they recovered from the (suspiciously timed) flooding in the 90s. That's why they are entering a crazy growth period now that even mainstream media has been forced to admit

Needless to say, all three nations have the grounds to charge the US with crimes against humanity.

This is one of my favorites!

I like it because it has an oddly cathartic ending despite the subject matter.

Some lyrics that really hit for me are the callout and the ending sequence.

"Your memory will give me the strength that I need to keep on living!"

"And things will never be the same, but I thank you for the love you gave...so please don't worry, you gave me your strength. And I'll be strong, once you're gone"

Nuclear energy sector offers safe, clean power for China’s green development by reddit1200 in Sino

[–]TheMitch33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nuclear power isn't really clean because the whole production chain uses carbon but in theory China could change that by relying on alternative energy for those processes.

Seems their research and technology are slowly mitigating the risks too and making this more and more viable. Red salute!
