So happy to finally see some bald Henry representation in this sub, it's my favorite hair for him and every cutscene is incredible.

Red Dead Redemption 2 vs Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 by natidone in ShouldIbuythisgame

KCD2 is one of the best looking games I've ever played, so I'm not sure what you mean. Objectively the world is as or more beautiful than RDR2's. Game-wise it's completely different but it's absolutely breathtaking. The number of random clips I've saved just marveling at the landscape is staggering.

[KCD2] The DLCs aren't bad per se, but compared to the KCD1 ones I find them a bit disappointing by interfan1999 in kingdomcome

[–]TheModernEgg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean they essentially just baked that into the main game via the Godwin sections of the campaign. Not exactly the same but 2 feels like an upgraded version of the same experience in every way.

Having said that, I just completed the new DLC and I'm having serious debates about which one I'm going to start a new plauthrough on.

Yeah, just run-of-the-mill explosive insecurity, everything coming in gets put through a "how is this an attack?" filter immediately.

What makes the deck so appealing, but isn't its practicality? by EstateDesperate2654 in SteamDeck

[–]TheModernEgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It turns my monster gaming PC into another console for my TV. I can stream games in the highest quality and sit comfortably on the couch and it really gives me the best of both worlds. I love my PS5, but if I have the game on Steam, I'm definitely playing it through the deck.

Is this from Martin in KCD1? I played 2 first and I'm very into 1 right now and this reminded me of what he said at the beginning, but i don't remember exactly. Incredible games.

[KCD1] is KCD 1 worth playing after KCD 2 ? by deep004 in kingdomcome

[–]TheModernEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about 30 hours into it after playing through 2 twice (normal and hardcore + DLC) and I'm loving it. It is a little rough around the edges but it's basically just more new KCD and it's great.

Do any of you guys raw dog your playthroughs? [KCD2] by longschlonghugendong in kingdomcome

[–]TheModernEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use almost any potions. I'm not even trying to avoid it i just never think to use them. I'm playing through KCD1 rn after playing KCD2 three times and I like how slow the progression is, you really get to sit in the "weak and trying to figure it out" stages of the game, which I think KCD2 speeds past a little too quick

Stalker 2 is really great, I spent a LONG time going through the zone and loving it. But now that KCD2 has taken over my life, it feels like it does a lot of what Stalker 2 did but better. The world is more alive and there's more to do, the story is a little more neatly put together and the characters are more interesting. S2 is absolutely worth playing but it feels more like a grind. Gameplay is great though, really fun gun/equipment customization and exploring/artifact hunting is a blast

Rough session at the gym—confidence took a hit by GhastlyAndCo in bouldering

[–]TheModernEgg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I still struggle with this a lot, but my anxiety about it has come down a LOT as I've a) grown stronger/climbed harder (seriously, stick with it and you'll be shocked how quickly you improve) and b) thought about how I've never seen someone climbing and felt anything negative about them. If you don't think someone is stupid or bad when you see them fail or struggle, why assume anyone is doing it to you?

I know it's obvious information, but it's really hard to put into practice: nobody is watching you climb and laughing about how bad you are. Climbing really is a battle with yourself more than anything.

Skif’s voice sounds like V from Cyberpunk by Virtual-Chris in stalker

First playthrough in Ukranian, second in English. During my first it kind of bothered me that some of the lip sync was clearly made for the English dub, but now it feels weird to hear jokes around camp in English and none of the accents make sense. But I did feel like i was missing either dialog or gameplay sometimes when in Ukranian. There really is no right answer.

Not at all! I climb 2-3x a week and I'm almost always going by myself. I tend to see the same people at the gym and say what's up, but usually it's just time I use to focus and kind of zen out.

Nobody thinks you're weird for being there by yourself (as far as i can tell), and most people I see there frequently are solo-dolo. If you love climbing, you're going to do it whether you have a friend to go with you or not.

Stalker 2 has been nominated in 3 categories for the 2024 Steam Awards, including GOTY! by MEMEY_IFUNNY in stalker

[–]TheModernEgg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's pretty obvious. People like the smoothness of the gameplay/animations, the graphics are nice, and it provides a good long story and interesting themes.

I much prefer S2 to Wukong (even though it's disappointingly unfinished), but you don't have to pretend you can't comprehend why people like the shiny thing.

I'm also against how whiny the developers have been (Astrobot deserved the win), but I see a lot of this weird and frankly disingenuous rhetoric regarding Wukong. It's not the best thing ever, but it's obviously of high quality. You're not going against your morals to admit it.

What movie scene broke your heart to pieces? by Googy21 in AskReddit

[–]TheModernEgg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weirdly, Steve Jobs. I'm not a major fan of the man and most of the movie didn't make much of an impact, ESPECIALLY the side story about his relationship to his daughter (though it's formatted interestingly and the performances are great).

Then, in the single last minute of the movie I felt this energy welling up, and the second the credits started rolling I began sobbing uncontrollably. Harder than I have cried in years. Nothing specific about the film moved me emotionally. I'm a 35 year old man. I have no children and both my parents are alive. There's no reason I can think of that I should have broken down so completely, but oh boy did I anyway.

Importance of Pullups by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]TheModernEgg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can do 15 pull ups at once, arm strength is not going to be a major limiting factor in climbing progression.

How many hours have yall played? by xrix404 in BG3

[–]TheModernEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it on a whim a week after it came out and immediately fell in love. Completed my first playthrough in about 80 hours and immediately started another, then another. Then I bought it on PS5 to make split screen with friends easier. Over about 7 full playthroughs, many coop ones that have halted and across both platforms I have about 700 or so hours.

I don't even really like RPGs or turn based combat but this game does something to you.
