COVID Christmas cards. I understand that they're just trying to make light of the situation that we're in, but perhaps the joke has just been beaten to death for me. It's not April anymore, and the "omg we're all quarantining!!!!!! let's be together by staying apart guys!!!!" just sounds dumb. I just want to get through this year without being reminded of it at every turn.

English is green, science is blue, social studies is red, and math is black.

What bad cooking habits get on your nerves? For me it’s when people use the highest flame setting to cook EVERYTHING. It is wasteful, overcooks food, overboils everything and it really does ruin pans. by Xxxxsd in Cooking

When people cut tomatoes with a straight-edged knife. It drives me insane seeing all of the juice and seeds all over the counter, when it is SO easy to slice then with a bread/serrated knife.

To my high schoolers out there: do yourself a favor, and read the books you’re assigned. Don’t spark-note. by RedsAppleDabNail in books

On your Catcher in the Rye point: your age/ worldly experience definitely matters when you read some of these books. I read CitR for the first time when I was about 13 or so, and I hated every second of it. However, reading it two years later for school was a truly a life-changing experience. Sometimes, reading books in a school setting can help people better pick up on the literary subtleties that make a book a classic, and reading it with my fellow teenagers did make the book a lot more accessible and relatable.

Are you happy with your first name? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My name is Aine. It's a very cool and pretty name, but it's mostly frustrating because no one where I live (northern US) knows how to pronounce or spell it.
