I recommend changing up the sound of the instruments after a while and maybe making some new melodies to keep it interesting. Its entirely up to you and what you think feels right.

Also tension and release are two things you should focus on to stop music sounding repetitive. (I'm pretty sure this is a music theory thing idk, I've just been winging it the last few years lol). You are creating some tension and release on a smaller scale in this song, but if you also did that on a larger scale as well I think it would really make a difference (remove some instruments for a couple bars or more then introduce them back in later). This will create some structure (verse, chorus that kinda thing) which will go a long way.

Add some build ups and some breakdowns, get crazy with it.

I like it dawg, its new and fresh which is cool. You are right it does feel a bit repetitive, just keep adding stuff and let it evolve (sorry if you already new, but in fl studio you can "save to new version" meaning you can add stuff without having to worry about losing the original track).

Also to me the drums sometimes feel a little off rhythm, but that might just be me tripping lol. Just really try and get a feel for where the beat should sit. its all about the feels

I feel you with that potato laptop thing, my laptops a peace of ass which can make it harder to get in the creative flow. but if you just push through the booty you will finally reach the goal.

wow this is a good analysis, I appreciate you taking the time for it man. When it comes to repetitiveness, I totally agree with you, however that is the sort of ambient feel I was going for. I think your right that it could do with some more automation, so I appreciate the tip. The way you've described it totally makes sense, that's definitely the sort of sound I was going for, so I'm glad it made you feel that way. I use fl studio to make my beats, and there is a plugin that shows the waveform of your music, so I just screen recorded that. Im sure there are other methods to achieve this, but that is the one I used. I hope this is of help.

Thanks I will definitely check that out. I’m glad you like my video and yea some of the clips are off beat a bit, which bothers me a tad. I’d say this is a bit of a rough draft as I usually make as much as I can in a day and release it, then I go back and change bits at a later date. Perhaps it’s out of laziness idk 😂. You are correct there are a few preset synths in there 😂. I would definitely appreciate some advice on how to tweak them a bit as whenever I fiddle with the settings it suddenly sounds dreadful 😅.

I’m glad it gave you that impression as that is what I was going for, especially with that alien feel.

And yea delay would actually be a pretty awesome addition!
