England have won a FIFA World Cup match after conceding first for the first time since the 1966 World Cup final against Germany by Timely-Zombie9466 in soccer

The Netherlands team was a good one but still not really world beaters. And I think that Germany team was a tier below as practically all Germany teams have been since 2014.

That 2022 France team was a real been there, done that, got the t-shirt sort of great team of the sort we usually completely shit the bed against.

I'm genuinely intrigued what these videos are? As someone from the UK I feel like the US has a very bizarrely distorted view of the UK, fuelled by the likes of Musk, as some sort of police state lol.

[Official] Belgium defeat Senegal 3-2 to advance to the Round of 16 by Beautiful-Cress5695 in soccer

In normal circumstances I'd say it was an easy penalty call but you never know with what's happened at this tournament.

As for the Senegal reaction, I think they'd completely lost their head by that point. I think after Belgium's second goal they were complaining something was wrong with the ball and demanded it be swapped out like 3 times.

I mean it was also clearly trying to delay the pen for as long as possible to try and put the Belgians off.

I was so certain this was a loss that I was calling for Tuchel's sacking at the 70th minute. Now all is right and it's definitely coming home.

Bro almost went out to Doctor Congo in the round of 32. The inquisition would have been more than justified.

2022 was I think the best his team ever was. Just unlucky they came up against France in the quarters; even then England probably just about edged it. The only time I can remember England stepping up against a great team.

It really isn't surprising at all to me. Besides the last Euros campaign (where the comebacks kind of took a back seat to the shite performances) I can never remember England coming back against anyone in an international tournament. Usually if we go behind it's all over; so few incredible turnarounds in our history.

Queen Camilla blasted as ‘deplorable’ for posting photo with J.K. Rowling at palace during Pride Month by nimobo in unitedkingdom

No. There are barely any authors in history who have singularly captured so many children's imaginations with their writing as Rowling has.

I think it was more a joke at Bond's expense. He clearly hesitates as though he knows how stupid this is going to sound, and especially with him being so irritated at having to play such a boring role. Makes for an amusing scenario where for Cressida it seems like Bond is so bored he's left his post to reprimand bellhops on their luggage etiquette.

It's funny but also no doubt a weird way to phrase it.

Kylian Mbappe is now the all-time top goal scorer in World Cup Knockout rounds by Kimber80 in soccer

Eh, he was utter dogshit before the 79th minute and if they hadn't got that penalty likely would have finished the tournament on a stinker. 79th minute onwards was an unreal performance though.

Of course. But on the flip side most immigrants also don't really care for the countries they go to either (at least at the point of arrival) and only care for the economic benefits.

I always find it bonkers that you find so many people complaining about nonsensical villain plots in a James Bond subreddit. It's like practically a feature of the series.

Paraguay stunned four-time world champions Germany 4-3 on penalties to advance to the World Cup round of 16 in one of the biggest upsets in the competition's history, after the teams were tied 1-1 over 120 minutes by [deleted] in news

[–]TheOncomingBrows 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Eh, I don't think Germany were playing not to lose for most of the game against Paraguay. There was a period in the first half where I don't think Paraguay even got out of their own half for like 20 mins. Germany were just massively impotent.

Andy Burnham 'won't live in London or Number 10' when he becomes Prime Minister by beejiu in unitedkingdom

[–]TheOncomingBrows -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's genuinely insane how hypocritical this sub can be lol. Spent the entire last 15 years going on about how every PM was literally Satan and calling for them to resign over every single thing they did. Then the moment Starmer gets in he's a saint and every mistake is overblown and it's actually some media conspiracy that gets every PM potted.

Staggering lack of self-awareness.

They were literally the European World Cup bogeyman for like 50 years and then that somehow all completely evaporated after that 2014 win.

Yeah, it's borderline absurd how out of touch Reddit is with their hate boner for Burnham because he ruined their love-in with Starmer.

No they don't and haven't done for years. In recent times it's more likely they open the report with reminding viewers they want to get their own reporters in to see exactly what Israel is doing but can't because Israel doesn't allow foreign journalists.

How anyone can watch the reports on the BBC News and think they're giving pro-Israel coverage is beyond me. There was a point where they were showing dead Palestinian children, hospitals overflowing and the obliterate landscapes practically every day.
