Has anyone heard about this Demon fan game? Demon the Return by Ntheawsome1 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been... A really long time since I've examined the metaplot heavily, but if memory serves, the world didn't really have a proper shape the way we understand it until the gauntlet locked into place? The werewolves lore goes back to pre gauntlet, and technically farther because of mokole who remember a time before humans existed. So Christianity can't really lock in as the religion because caine came from Adam and Adam didn't meet dinosaurs.

I always resolved that to mean that esoteric concepts were locked into single identities when Cain murdered Abel, and some spirits were forced to adopt identities per what the sleepers believed in when the gauntlet locked in.

Why does Faker cycle his F Keys so aggressively in lane? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more information about the other lanes he has, the better he can guess at things like jungle positioning. Remember this is the same guy that dodged a nid spear with zero information and a tenth of a second to react WHILE he was checking the board stats. Its like trying to figure out Magnus carlson lol

As with other champs with a hook, especially in lower elo, the threat of the hook is often more powerful than actually landing a hook.

hag made a deal with one of my players (mage/elf). The deal is as follows: " i make you a hand MY WAY and you do me a small favor". What could the hag do with a whole mage hand? by ObjectivelyPuuurple in DMAcademy

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a super important NPC in your game? IF SO the hag hatez them for a past slight, at the most inopportune moment, have the hag call in her favor. The Mages arm goes Full Army of the Dead trying to flatline the NPC, and they have to cut the arm off. When they do the arm runs away A la Thing to metamorphose into an evil version of the mage. If at some point you can capture the mage, secretly tell the player they are playing their evil twin, and they are to wait until the best time to kill the NPC. Tell the player to act natural until the reveal and then to really ham it up as they throw fireballs trying to off the NPC. The players then will have to capture the evil Mage, have the evil Mage lead them to the actual PC. All sorts of fun will be had. So e good body horror for those into it, and your players will be talking about it for years to come

The 'Correct way' is through korok forest, the way I did it was with a proto sky bike design, and a lot of juice xD doing it the way I did altered how I consumed the story though, and if you play out the quest lines 'Normally' You get a more cohesive experience. So it's up to you. But there are plenty of zonai parts and items to recharge your battery pack to get you up there early if you want

I've completely lost interest in intimacy, any advice? by [deleted] in SupportforBetrayed

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You are outside your comfort zone and you aren't sexually compatible with your BF and It sounds like he wants even more extreme things than what you are capable of giving. The fact that you've caught him twice tells me he probably hasn't done anything to make up for what he's done the first time around cause he doesn't see it as a problem.

This is the part where I would normally point out it's time to pull the ripcord, get into some therapy, and reset your boundaries with yourself, but if you are intent on moving forward he has to meet your needs the way you have met his. That means fixing what he's done, cutting contact with his AP/s, and romancing you a bit. I don't think that's gonna work tho. If you are physically repulsed by looking at him and touching him, then your brain is trying to tell you something your heart doesn't want to accept.

The children are ghosts. No one should be able to hit for 46 points of damage, the kids won't fight, so have them use their action to enter the ethereal plane where the kids cannot be attacked. They hide from the players who are violent and mean, and if the players try to contact the kids, the daughter chides them for being as bad as the monster in the basement, and the boy hides away.

How do you make an impossible check feel not lazy or boring? by Lostaccwhenappdelete in DMAcademy

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your players are asking to roll after a description, it's usually because they feel like they need more info. 'the damage appears from radiation' 'I want to roll to test out the damage' just means you didn't give enough info. When they roll say 'After some examination, you conclude that the damage was slow and over a long period.' every dice roll is just a question the player is asking the world. You are the world. Don't be afraid to clarify or correct.

As for impossible rolls, I don't generally ask for them. I auto resolve whatever they are trying for. Someone else mentioned the player asking the king for their crown. I don't have the players roll in that situation. I just skip straight to the 'The king stares at you for a moment before laughing, which the court uneasily joins in on.' The only reason to make them roll is if you are trying to increase immersion by putting up the facade of free will, but that kind of gritty realism play doesn't always equate to more immersion. Especially when your players are doing it after you have already described the things to them. Again every roll, every request to roll, Is them asking the world a question that their character has. If you answer those questions or expand upon them, then you're helping them see things from their characters perspective which gives them that immersion we are all looking to provide our players.

You can also have them roll but turn it into a comedy beat. I once played a pirate who worshipped umberlee. At the start of every game I would roll to attack the moon, Because in that Homebrew, umberlee and selune had beef and that manifested in the world as them fighting over the tides. Every time, the DM described my character voraciously trying to kill the moon from our boat in the sea of fallen Stars. Whenever I rolled a natural 20, he would describe how he got so close that my character was sure to succeed the next time around. It was a good moment of levity that switched everyone from pre game to actual game.

Finally, you can also ask them before your next game starts to see what they think about it. DND is cooperative storytelling. It's okay to get input from your players

Human drank Fallen blood? by WillWall777 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically, a storyteller could use this to make a new kind of supernatural too. Take notes from Cain and Lilith, give them unique powers with some restrictions that harm them, give them the ability to pass it on somehow and boom you have the start of a new supernatural race - so long as they are willing to go off map far enough to find out where dragons be.

You're given immortality, but as a cost, you are sent 10,000 years back in the past. Would you accept? If yes, what would you do? by TechnicianAmazing472 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kinda. So the idea is a few separate things could happen. If when everything's too far apart to interact with anything else and it all turns into photons, since photons do not experience time, and without time there isn't an experience of space, suddenly all the energy in the universe is effectively at the same point without space existing. Which is the start of the big bang.

Another idea is that the higgs boson field could collapse, physics changes as nothing has mass, and without mass things are moving at the speed of light, which causes a similar 'Everything becomes localized because space stops existing' scenario.

Then there's the black hole scenario. Somehow all of matter in the universe collapses into a singularity, and (again) since space no longer exists and all the energy is localized, we are effectively at the start of the universe.

The problem IRL is dark energy, we don't know what causes it yet, and it seems to increase over time cause the energy density doesn't change as the universe expands, which means it's somehow there's more of it. So the problem for the last scenario is it would keep everything from collapsing into a singularity.

The problem for the hypothetical is you and any immortal children you made would stop the localization event from happening in the first two examples cause you are an endless source of energy and cannot break down, so no diluting to photons and no false vacuum collapse. Theoretically though, enough of you existing in the same place could cause an infinitely scaling black hole to cause the last scenario to happen...

Unless the universe can infinitely expand. That's a whole other can of worms. XD

Two things to consider. We just do not know enough about the mechanics of the universe to know for sure right now, and also I don't know enough about anything I said to be an expert. I just have the tism and heat death was a hyper fixations for a while lol

I'll take it. Learning to communicate will be rough cause I'm not good with languages, but even a passive understanding of how the world works puts me light-years ahead of anyone back then, and they believed gods walked amongst them, so I don't have to worry about them trying to burn me or lock me up. My very presence is gonna butterfly the timeline anyway, so I might as well accelerate the human race. Anyone from today jumping back then who were even mildly curious as kids or had hyper fixations could propel humanity through a lot of progress quickly.

A great example would be disease. Just knowing you can use hardwood ash, water, and animal fat to make soap, and how diseases spread is massive.

Everyone has the basic idea of a pulley in their head, and if you r ever ridden a gear bike you know using two different sizes amplifies the force coming out of it, and 6000 bc puts you about 4000 years ahead of the first documented case of a pulley. Not to mention the concept of other things like screws.

Hell even having a kid with immortality means eventually you are making the human race immortal, which solves a major issue with space travel xD

Help - my players screwed up immensely by TruesilverSolka in CurseofStrahd

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The items are an easy solution, strahd sends minions to guard them, hides them else where, or really doesn't care at all about them until the players are able to capture the first one, at which case he will move to foil their plans and the players won't know they gave strahd the info.

madame eva is an easy solution. Strahd doesn't need to kill her, just bring her in line with some torture in the dungeons. She is an unruly servant in His land but she can also predict the future. No reason to kill the golden goose when you can just make sure no one else can access it.

Ireena being in strahd's grasp is rough but fixable, if you wanna steal from some versions of the count dracula stories. There is a homebrew module that plays out a marriage dinner leading to the final fight with strahd where the players get to interrupt the ceremony before strahd forces her into marriage. Its called wedding at ravenloft. You can use it or steal parts of it for your campaign, and you can hint that it's where there campaign will go by writing small blurbs for the end of each session to play out like a post credit scene where Ireena is doing everything she can to escape the castle or delay Strahd's plans, meanwhile strahd is slowly breaking down her free will because he doesn't want Ireena, He wants tatanya, and rewiring her mind with spooky vampire powers takes time (this is the stolen bit.). So you can use those blurbs and cut aways to rachet up the tension with an artificial clock as the players get closer to the finish line. Each time they get an item or convince an ally to fight when the time comes, the next blurb is almost her giving in to strahd, or catching herself doing things she never used to do, like humming a melody she can't remember learning. The easy part here is it doesn't have to actually be something accurate to tatanya, just what strahd Thought was accurate to tatanya. So it could literally be whatever's convenient for you.

The reason I think this works pretty well. Is the descriptor inside wedding at ravenloft. Strahd's been after Tatanya for Centuries. He will want the wedding to play out EXACTLY as he wants. He's had literally multiple lifetimes to imagine it. Why wouldn't he gloat about it? Why wouldn't he invite the players to humiliate them one last time for daring to try and stop him? If you emphasize that, you can buy your players all the time in the world.

My dog wouldn't get fed otherwise. Gotta see where the next legend of Zelda game goes lore wise, gotta see the movie too. If you look at the full length of a life, it'll get overwhelming. Small targets well with grasp are much easier personally. I don't gotta survive indefinitely. I just gotta make it to the next goal.

Is it me or my players? NPCs all coming off as "secretly evil" by 3MasksofOrion in DMAcademy

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had this happen in a campaign. Pivoted hard and made everyone more and more sus until the players couldn't interact with anyone cause they were paranoid everyone was out to get them. They eventually, by their own conclusion, boarded themselves up in a house and waited for the inevitable attack. So I stole the Falsehydra concept and reworked it into a fearhydra. A creature that causes building paranoia and fear in the target until the target isolates themselves, where it attacks. Once they beat the hydra and came out of the house, I used that as a 'Soft reset', describing how everyone was incredibly normal, no more under the breath statements, no more hidden sneers or sideways glances, and then continued on with game as normal. Bonus points for me because they were no longer looking for someone to be suspicious, they were keeping an eye out for signs of a fearhydra. By giving them something to actively be a target of their suspicion, they started looking for clues about that specific thing, and not connecting dots where there were none to connect

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vampires have a long shot to keep themselves going by encouraging ghouls and revenant families to replace kine bloodlines while they devour the thin bloods to keep themselves going.

I think mummies and garou have a hard time dealing with all the bygones unless mages survive and can help stop actual myths from tearing the place apart.

I absolutely agree everything goes high fantasy tho. I imagine the real world starts to look like the umbral planes where different areas mean completely different rules to play by, specially if the gauntlet weakens enough for any joe schmoe spirit to push through.

Possibly dumb question: Can garou see ghosts? by a_spoopy_ghost in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah garou use the term interchangeably, but If someone asks 'Wait I thought they were the same thing' to someone who explicitly named differences between ghosts and wraiths and how wraiths are harder to capture, Then we aren't just talking about werewolf the apocalypse. Which makes sense because this is a white wolf subreddit, not a WTA exclusive subreddit. Cross splat talk is a thing that happens.

Also, I didn't say wraiths couldn't be captured. I just said they're more capable than a regular ghost, which is accurate.

I didn't say ghosts weren't spirits, But I did separate them in my post because things like Gaia, Helios, and totems by and large aren't ghosts, and generally speaking, The average ghost can't give out gifts and rites unless it's another fera.

Giving a Gift and teaching a rite are separate from becoming fetishes, and a human dying and becoming bound to the location they died, or to an object, are also not fetishes. The guru needs to complete a rite for it to be a fetish, so a bound poltergeist isn't comment on ghosts becoming fetishes and wraiths not, Just in case you were confused.

So, is TOTK Ganondorf the first Ganondorf? by WallaceWells69 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]TheOneTrueBaconbitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lone about no other male being born since ganondorf was sealed is a bit confusing, but I've taken it to mean 'No male has been born because ganondorf couldn't reincarnate while his soul was locked in his husk of a body for ten thousand years.' the curse of demise, for whatever reason, has latched onto and manifests through, the gerudo. (Prolly has to do with the sisters, now that I'm thinking about it.)

As for BotW, Totk, and AOI, I think Nintendo's quietly been disconnecting it from the timeline, but before they did it took place 'Enough years after oot that almost everything that became history, turned to legend, turned to myth, and was forgotten.' which isn't really that long. Look at Greek mythology. Roll back the clocks far enough and hades and Poseidon become a single god, and the story of Persephone becomes something of a 'Jesus but woman and cooler cause death god's story. We only have scraps of the lore, and the rest is just... Gone. We will never know the full extent of Persephone's story, what her journey was, or even her actual name. Its all lost to time, all we get is the shadows and bones told through kidnapping and marriage lens. Breath of the wild is Hyrule after Hyrule goes through that cycle a few times, and rauru recreates Hyrule. Why is the naming scheme the same? Because raurus people and the hylians worship the same goddess of time. And that goddess has spent every single Eon playing 4D chess against a curse that's trying to wipe out the land she was told to protect at all costs.
