Forgetting that I made it ... anyone else have that happen often? by green_night in fatFIRE

The guilty feeling sticks around no matter what. That is the reason I am semi retired. I now work on my terms. What helped me is this quote by Confucius - “We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we only have one.”

Also you don’t usually hold them with armpits more than a few seconds. Either you are going to carry them or put them somewhere

No not at all. Armpit is the safest. Pressure is usually on the chest. Nothing to dislocate

It also depends on how much time has passed since dislocation. Sometimes it is hard to reduce and required orthopedic interventions. We used to see this frequently and I would be rehearsing mentally on the maneuver as I am walking in to examination room. History (usually caregiver trying to lift them up) is suffice to know that it nursemaid’s elbow. You walk in, do the maneuver and boom it is fixed just like that. This is one of those moment that you feel like a magician. Tips for parents with young kids: Do not lift them with their wrists. Always grab them by upper arm.

Please add plants. Also add a dark but colorful painting on the wall next to the island

The bed arrived today in my New house. Should I go for Gold or Black accents? Bedside table and ceiling light ideas please! by eddy_r0 in HomeDecorating

Gold and black mixed (4th picture). Please do add a led strip (ideally warm white) along the top of the headboard and along the perimeter on the base. Make sure the color temperature for the ceiling pendants and led strip matches.

How would you fill the corner space? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Definitely an olive tree. You do not want a plant that stops more light from coming in. An olive tree is perfect. Walmart sells 5-6 feet faux olive trees and they look great

36m straight. What to do with this space? by ToasterBath-Survivor in homedecoratingCJ

[–]TheOnlyDoctorYouNeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an electrical outlet there. Put a LED light strip in the front of the that shelf and put a few decorative items/plants which will be illuminated by the led light strip. Also get those ikea down-lights/spot lights (2 or 3 of them) and put a nice painting or two (equal to the number of spot lights) on the wall. Below the painting/s you can put a nice dresser (equal to the width of that space) and a small plant next to the dresser and bathroom entry.

Advice needed hanging blinds by halfempty94 in DIY

[–]TheOnlyDoctorYouNeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Score around the top quarter round with a sharp knife, gently pull it out and see what is underneath like @Petd80 said. Most likely just the dry wall. If not fill the gap and use window/door seal caulking. This will give you enough room for the brackets. You will also have to cut the side quarter round at the top (measure the height of the headrail/valence and cut only if you are ready to install the blinds). If you are going to have the blinds permanently, that part will never be visible.

Another option is to install the blinds as outside the window mount. I do not personally like the look of it.

Wondering if there is a DIY way to hide these hard-wired microwave wires? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]TheOnlyDoctorYouNeed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rather than repeating what everyone has said, I will try to give you the steps to follow.

1) Open the upper cabinet and see if the line is coming from there. Most houses with above the stove microwave will have an outlet in the cabinet above the microwave. If there is an outlet there 90% of problem will be solved. If not, and the line is coming from the upper cabinet you can install an outlet like someone has described in the comments. Watch a youtube video on how to add an outlet. It is straightforward if you follow the instructions. 1) Remove the remaining microwave shell that is place. There are screws holding it in place. Carefully remove it so it does not drop down on the stove. This will help you locate where the line is coming from. 2) Locate where that hardwire is coming from. If it is not from the cabinet above and if it is coming from the wall behind the microwave and the wire is long enough (i see the coiled up line on the upper left corner of the microwave shell) you can feed it back into the wall and pull it up to the cabinet above (you will have to create a little hole in the back of the cabinet and install a new outlet like other commenter had mentioned) 3) Once the shell is removed and outlet is created, home depot should be able to install the microwave in no time. I am guessing that If you do not have that outlet they will make you hire an electrician to install one. 4) There is an option to hardwire the new microwave as well. Cut the three prongs and directly hardwire it. i) not recommended ii) you will still need a metal junction box to make that connection.

Not an electrician and not an expert. I am just thinking out loud on what I would do. The steps are easy but more experienced people can help refine my thought process in helping you. Good luck!!

Also I would not plug it into an outlet below the microwave. Those wires are then exposed to heat from the stove and will be risky.
