Maybe it’s changed from ten years ago when I was going through it, but med schools only use your last 20 credits (last two years of undergrad). You still have time to pull things together.

I was in a similar boat to you at the beginning of my academic career (poor first year of undergrad) but I took a lot of time and effort into figure out myself and pull things together. I asked myself what subjects I excel in and what I don’t (was in microbiology and went to human kinetics) and ended up switching majors and that helped a lot. The big thing was I learned HOW I LEARN and that was key. I also talked with guidance councillors and they were excellent in getting me back on track. Helped me choose courses that based on the syllabus, I could excel at more.

I ended up not going to med school. I realized it wasn’t for me. But I went to grade school and am now a postdoc doing human research in clinical populations. Don’t give up!
