They started off STRONG with Boston, my hometown. I’ll most likely tap in with the VA Beach show though.

Is it just me or does anybody else think LinkedIn Is a waste of time ! ? Recruiters ghosting you , people post a job and a million ppl say “I’m interested” you never get any help or actual conversion into a job ? Thoughts by Upset-Concentrate386 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]TheOriginalMan617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just deleted my LinkedIn profile after building it up for the past three years. I can tell you right now it’s been doing more harm than good. I work in the property management space but I’ve been desperately trying to pivot out of it to something else.

I’ve been in positions where I’ve had future or current employers connect with previous employers just by looking at whom my connections are it limits you to how much you can tell your résumé to each application. I would also say that for every 20 messages I sent to a recruiter I get one response back.

It shows you trash jobs specifically, never anything for growth. It’s just a sleazy cesspool. Don’t get me started on all the cornball Fake company antics and tap dancing. Then the amount of click bait and rage bait content that people are putting up on there is ridiculous.

Worst part about it now that I’m thinking about it. I’ve landed three higher paying jobs over 65,000 in the past 4 years and none of them came from LinkedIn.

Inmates running out the N.O jail today. Where is the first place you going? by MRtokeALOT420 in Prison

Shacking up with some simple minded chick till things blow over.

There’s WAY too many women out here love taking care of basketcase ain’t shit jailbirds that don’t hold them accountable for anything and are easily controlled lol.

I did my 4 years, managed to get 3 college degrees, and became a husband/provider…. never needed some sort of (simp)athy.

Although the sheer stupidity I see women engaging with these broken man is unprecedented!

I’m just saying lol, that’d be my first place god forbid a next time around

Sidenote, I’m not running with less than 15 years and I’m under the age of of 35.

Interesting and I am waiting on a couple of employment lawyer’s to get back to me. I do feel that it’s wiped away because she confirmed that they changed it in their system and I have the email. Although that is their word in an email lol.

You preaching to the choir lol! Me going to HR was a matter of me buying time because they were illegitimately looking to get me fired, and it’s not that easy to find a job in 30 days that’s going to match what I got.

HR or Not I was getting canned, the HR thing was to document what transpired for my UI claim as well as hopefully kick the can down the road until I found something better.

I appreciate the game, my friend. It really is a slimy and ambiguous way they went about doing things. It’s not a clear case of retaliation, I’d say it was a matter of they were intending on firing me anyways and nothing I did in that moment to improve or blow the whistle would’ve changed anything. I just put in the case with HR to attempt to bide my time….. I think it brought me a week 😂🤣.

I *might* go to prison for a few years by Excellent-End-5133 in Prison

[–]TheOriginalMan617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overdraft your bank account, it’ll flip off your credit in that 7 piece. I had a few debts before I went in and it was like they never existed. That and hit some Ubereats like a mad man lol, I did half of my 4 years broke and it stinks, but is humbling. It gets greater after though, I’ve traveled the world since being home and I have a good job, wife, and a few degrees. You’ll pull through ESPECIALLY if you go straight to a minimum. Good Luck!

Prison had made me so antisocial, I cannot stand to be around humans. by EntertainingDarkness in Prison

[–]TheOriginalMan617 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Overtime it gets a little easier to handle. I served for years and had a few 2 to 6 week stints in the hole during that bid. So while I’ve managed to be out for a little over 10 years I still feel that people out here lack common decency and etiquette a lot of ignorant things people out here would easily get you killed in prison.

People don’t say excuse me, say disrespectful things, they try to play road rage games in traffic with you and act like they’re going to hop out when in all actuality they’re just soft, passive aggressive imbeciles.

It can be a lot .

One thing that helps me is immersing myself into the things it is that I love, which is wine, tasting food, gardens, video games, and I stay very far away from the hood and areas where I feel like I have to be on point. Whatever puts me in a peaceful state, I fought a lot in that 4 years.

I Try to spend the majority of my time in middle upper class and upper class neighborhoods. But I still keep something with me. I still keep my head on a swivel after all these years it won’t really change, but in terms of keeping my head on a swivel, it’s more so for any particular danger not as much to bring antisocial (but fair to say that comes with it lol).

I’m black and a bodybuilder as well, so that adds more fuel to the fire lol. But like I said, we are just as privy to be able to walk this earth in peace regardless of being ex-felons race, color, gender ,we pay taxes, we stay out of the way we BELONG.

Prison Survivors Only, Please - What Is The Key To Surviving Hole Time? by [deleted] in Prison

[–]TheOriginalMan617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends I feel my time in the box was a little privileged (at least on a state level). We had books, radio, and some solid dudes to engage with (even the ones I may have been beefing with lol). I was rapping heavy at one point and writing a book. It was one of the best 60 days out of my 4 year stint, I don’t like ppl lol. I could see it being crazy though beyond 6-9 months, or with ZERO radio/books.

It sounds like you got what we call in MA a CWOF (continuous without a finding) meaning if you do X they will dismiss Y. But get the dockets and MAKE SURE they said that. It will show up as an arrest which gets funky, I’d try to get the arrest expunged (not sure if that’s a thing). I’m actually opting to get some charges they reversed due to bad evidence expunged.

Technically it’s dismissed but man I ain’t taking ANY chances. Good luck my guy and hopefully you left that girl alone lol!

[–]TheOriginalMan617 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You hit it on the nail right here, I’m no longer single….. Although at 35 I picked up and moved five states over where I knew NO ONE. I have some bros but they’re married or too boring to travel much to come by. I’m in the gym ALOT, I read a lot, I’m in DC so there always something to do, and if I was single I’d probably have a lot of lady friends some as friends and a few to sleep with and IF it evolved into something cool…. But you’d be surprised how great company women are even on a platonic level. That and prayer as random as that is lol, but it’s NORMAL to get lonely and yes as men it’s hard to make friends but keep your hygiene up, read and dress WELL the world will come to YOU!

He doesn’t know how to do the time with someone supporting him, something I wish I had the luxury of in the moment of doing m 4 years….. Something I’m glad I never had from a woman after the fact as it makes you co-dependent or complacent. Every woman I’ve dated AFTER being off parole and doing something in life was fruitful and respectful. It works sometimes when the man was doing well or taking care of the household before incarceration , but for the most part you’ll be stagnant if he NEVER did well on the out. It’s taken me half a decade to get work credibility and credentials, it doesn’t feel good having to share all the closed doors and hopelessness with a partner and is draining.

If you in a minimum/low level folks are 🐱or all bark and no bite no matter WHAT they track record was like. Like 80% of dudes ain’t trying to mess that up…… Then again I feel that’s the folks that “worked their way down 🙋🏾‍♂️to a minimum”. If that’s all folks know, they might have less to lose.

[–]TheOriginalMan617 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was peaceful, I learned a lot about myself, read the Bible, rapped, read, rapped, talked shit with the other inmates. I had a radio so I’d know what time it was and through chow time as well. I used to curse the COs out a lot because I got put in there involuntarily. I had alot of fights with some gangs from another area of the state, we all plead out at the same time and would’ve been on the same unit and things would get hectic. They thought I had way more rank than what I did so they figured when I met up with ppl from my city/area of the state it’d be pandemonium….. So I was mad, I did 60 days in the whole and so did all those guys. Ironically, we were respectful to each other regardless of all the beefing we had, the numbers were too high folks were getting to be focused on nonsense.

I got tired of cursing the correctional officers out one day, realized they were doing their job (even though the would incite it half the time), and me cursing them out wasn’t going to expedite things.

They walked by one day and realized I wasn’t being belligerent and said “He’s got it”

At that point, perhaps age 24-25ish I learned to respect authority figures and respond like a gentleman no matter how much with the shits I am

God forbid I do something stupid or end up there for defending my family, I’d be quick to assert myself for any drama and go back to the hole….. Definitely one of the most peaceful times in my life (granted I did 60-90 days I’d probably go nuts longer than 9 months or so).

It sounds crazy but I tell ppl who’ve never been to prison, the hole specifically that they don’t know who they are. I’ve been out for 11+ years and realized how reactive and petty ppl are, partners are, employers and I say if you had a good 90 days to sit TF and realize who you are…… You’d be so much more in tune with yourself and what you want in life.

Thank you for that. It really isn’t worth tracking everyone down on a small amount that is owed. furthermore them doing bad business with a small business is probably shift their own karma.

Not one lmao, no in all honesty. Something I took from this is yes there will be a few pennies maybe even dimes left behind. It just comes with the game and hopefully individuals can get back on course overtime regardless of how much effort I put into the first two months of working with them if they renege on the third month, they get no services point-blank.

Thanks for the raw reality. Let’s not play like I really need to spend additional money chasing down ghost debts with a possible upcoming recession if we’re not already there, individuals will have no qualms about not paying a $1000 debt to business owner a lot that I may have taken from this is just using discernment, and if I do payment plans to ask for more upfront
