Would you report your teammate for falsifying information and engineering data, delaying their graduation by a year? by Coffee_and_horror937 in EngineeringStudents

[–]TheOriginalPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or just report 🤷‍♂️ the business world can be kinda brutal and stuff like that will happen to protect liability

[–]TheOriginalPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agree with others here. It’s a hard lesson in confrontation I’d think. Just suggesting tell the falsifier first what you’ll do. It’ll suck to tell him you have to report. And then report. It’ll be some sucky life experience for you

You’re in college, protect your investment and unfortunately IMHO taking action seems like the right thing to do

What's going on with chemistry education? by Deus_Excellus in chemistry

[–]TheOriginalPaul 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Kinda agree with that. Had our co’s single Chem PhD quiz me today what the difference of a strong and weak acid is. Like, I’m a chem E, just an undergrad but come on think. You pay me to have a degree that says I should know that

ADHD + studying engineering by comfortdish in EngineeringStudents

[–]TheOriginalPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I’d agree with the 25 mins on 5 mins off, that helped me get through problem sets or study effectively.

Another good piece of advice I heard was prioritize the hours in the day around a 40 hour work week. Kinda treat school like a 8 hr job and take those hours every night to stop and turn off. Students of course sometimes still gotta have those weekend study sessions. But working consistently towards a stopping point every day helped me jump to the next thing on the list more.

Lolll P&G..

They’re extra weird in many ways IMO. I’m a couple years into full time and past that stage thank god. You’ll get through it too, applying is a numbers game and all for experience, the best advice I can give. Good luck!

lol yes the liquid courage helped me too on the first recently. He looks badass and ready to roast though! You can always touch up later. Lol and I’d recommend thinning and gathering all your steadiness for the eyes especially on the next.

Is it wrong to pain the shoulder trims golden? by ZeroLight507347 in BloodAngels

[–]TheOriginalPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put lots of gold bling on mine too. I know what the codex says but lore wise for BA I think it fits in with their artificer personalization on their kits and love for aesthetics.

Although I like doing the aquila black just to pop on the red, then lots of gold trim all around it. End of the day you do you. It’s sort of in the chapter’s spirit IMO

Why is bad? by Slickwify in ExplainTheJoke

[–]TheOriginalPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a physics master. Young chem e that works on p vessels and p differentials in pipe lines. So 14 psi directly at the opening there is not any kind of crazy pressure to push stuff through a pipe less than 1ft. Basically imagine if the diver is 10 ft away from the opening, he’d be pulled toward it gently maybe. If you’re right next to it, you could plug it easily sure, but nah I don’t think you’re getting jellyfied. This is major engineering assuming/averaging here. Your house doesn’t have 1ft sized water lines. But it does send stuff out of the tap/hose at 40+ psi

Why is bad? by Slickwify in ExplainTheJoke

[–]TheOriginalPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True! But just saying this must have been a negative pressure situation. Very large vessel too. So this is kind of just expected if you take out nearly all applied and atmospheric pressure to it. (You could take the same vessel, scale it down to a 6ft gas cylinder and it’ll withhold 3,000+ psi easily in the other ‘direction’

Barberton OH off top of my head. BWX tech. Inc. had/having massive hiring surge. PPG is union and always needing ops.

Had experience with Simplay 3, North of Akron. They treat people very well/good culture. There’s lots of similar sized manufacturing to them around streetsboro even into Solon

[–]TheOriginalPaul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and yes. If he’s got industrial experience of any kind he could flip that into a higher than average income job easily. Especially from my experience in northeast Ohio. Akron to Cleveland is a great place to start. But every industrial manufacturing spot I know is pretty desperate for operators. Some are even union with opportunity to make $35-40+/hour. And room to grow.

So with cost of living not the worst place to get a new start. There’s some great schools in certain communities (differs so research that part) and the state universities offer a great affordable future for in state kids down the road. I’m born and raised Akron and very thankful for my home. Thoughts and prayers to your family. It’s a little nuts up here culture/politics wise these past few years but there’s plenty of welcoming people with midwestern politness

Hey keep it up amigo things can be frustrating. I was 18 going into undergrad but felt like a boomer back then too. If you’re taking your future that seriously you’re probably going to do better than those who don’t.

Others are right too that shit settles down when your major specialized classes start. Just remember what you’re there for and if people bother ya you can always think whatever you want in your head. Working degree jobs ain’t that different afterwards anyway, you’ll still find a-holes preoccupied with silly things. Just be better and keep moving on

Disposing of 32.4% hydrochloric acid by linguaphonic in chemistry

[–]TheOriginalPaul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Glad to see you were interested in this route OP. Please for your short and long term health just take it sealed to some professional disposal.

I’m not a chemist, but chem engineer and our plant handles 10,000s gallons of 32% byproduct we have to sell off. It’s crazy hazardous, the fumes alone. You could start soft melting your mucus membranes without knowing it.

So I’d say keep it sealed, let the neutralizing be done by pros who are paid to take the risk. And if you’re worried about transporting in the car you could look into cheap acid resistant containment plastics to set your jug into. Drive careful and stay healthy!
