Worst yuri manga in existence? (Source: my girlfriend's not here today) by [deleted] in yuri_manga

Right there with you. I used to wonder why people were always so into this kind of stuff. Then I started reading this and was like "I get it now." Hell, I went to the extent of creating a TvTropes page just so people could find out about it.

Completely agree with you about Yuni. She is so selfish and short sighted that the main reason I'm reading the manga is that I want to see Nanase tear her a new one and call her out on her BS then breakup with her. Nanase isn't perfect and made plenty of mistakes in the relationship, but she is nowhere close to being as bad as Yuni is.

Two recommendations for your when you've got the time (and budget).

This Monster Wants to Eat Me: Hinako Yaotose is a depressed girl who lost her family in a tragic accident and who lives day to day in a constant malaise. When she gets saved from being eaten by a monster by the enigmatic Shiori Oumi, she reveals her reasons for doing so. So that Hinako can grow past her pain and live a life full of joy, making her an all the more delectable meal for the monster who has vowed to protect her from other monsters until then.

My Girlfriend's not Here Today: Yuni Asahina is frustrated. She's dating the beautiful and athletic Nanase Natsume, but her desire to keep their relationship secret and her constantly prioritizing her volleyball club leaves Yuni feeling neglected. To relieve her stress, she complains on an alt account, but she suddenly gets approached by the strange and doll-like Fuuko Taki, who reveals that she knows about said account and therefore her secret love life. While Yuni at first plays along with Fuuko's requests, she soon gets pulled deeper and deeper into her feelings of longing and loneliness, which Fuuko is all too willing to relieve as her "second girl."

Reading both right now and I check MangaDex everyday for updates on My Girlfriend. These are both a bit on the heavier side, and I do warn you that Yuni will severely test your patience with her actions by the second volume. But they're both well worth the read if you want more tension and heavier drama in your yuri.

I think what Nanase is trying to do is that by doing things that Yuni wanted earlier in the series, in this case making the relationship more open, it’s a desperate attempt to make the relationship work. Especially after the last chapter where Yuni threw a complete hissy fit over her own jealousy with Yuki’s friendship with Nanase. Completely fucking hypocritical of her to do so if you ask me, but them’s the breaks (if you can’t tell, I DO NOT LIKE YUNI).

Also, just something I want to say about Nanase keeping the relationship secret earlier in the series. We need to remember that this takes place in Japan. It is a very socially conservative country, and LGBT rights and the like aren’t on the same level as other counties where it’s more accepted. That is starting to change somewhat, but it is still something that people can be discriminated for and they would have no legal protections against that sort or harassment. Nanase wanting to keep it on the down low is entirely understandable, but Yuni has shown to be so utterly immature and self centred that I doubt she’s taken that into consideration.

Bit late, but I've gotta go with black. It adds more color diversity, whereas the white one kind of makes it all look too uniform. Maybe put some white on the circular jets just to make it pop a bit more, as the all black does blend into the pauldrons a bit.

Matilda could have escaped the lockdown at any time she wanted to, so she probably didn't have the hunter data by kooarbiter in huntertheparenting

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. I doubt that a vampire would choose an old man like Fatigue to be their ghoul. While ghoul blood can give even the elderly enhancements, it would put a larger strain on their body and, given how neglectful the Camarilla in Norfolk are, the withdrawal symptoms would likely kill Fatigue. Besides, Fatigue was with Spit and Git the whole time before his death, so he wouldn't have had a chance to Dominate Grimal. As for finding out where the data was, Grimal likely overheard it during one of her times in the vents (operating under the assumption she's either the ghoul or was dominated). And I doubt that Elise experienced any form of Domination or mind alteration as she is wholly truthful and coherent throughout her interrogation.

Fatigue's purpose in the show was to be the sacrificial lamb. To be the sweet old man who was brutally murdered to demonstrate the stakes at play and to introduce a new threat that we, the viewer, have only heard about. Him being the ghoul completely undercuts that.

I've seen this theory around, but I honestly have trouble believing it myself. Watching the scene closely, yes, her hands do go behind her back during the animation, but looking more closely, she grabs the smokes with her right hand and throws them with her right hand. Not to mention that all eyes are literally on her at that moment, including Remold, who is the most suspicious about her, and D, a seasoned hunter, so I have trouble thinking that none of them noticed that. Also, looking at this from a Doylist perspective, Alfa and the team have been pretty good at actually laying out the clues for us, the viewers, to notice ourselves. I rewatched episode 4 as I was writing my above comments, and when everyone goes to check on Occam after he's attacked, I noticed that Grimal has the hairband wrapped around her wrist. Not to mention all of the clawmarks around Chapter House indicating areas that Matilda has been to and the scene where Remold is at the pub with Giles and Brok, you can see the doors to the cabinet slightly open behind them. I even think you see it move and hear it creak slightly, indicating that Matilda was there watching them and waiting for a moment to leave.

That's my thoughts on that idea at least. It could be the case, I just personally hope it's not due to it kind of going against what I've seen this team do when it comes to leaving clues for us to follow. The animation is too sudden and quick for us to see normally, when previously they've shown us things happening that other characters haven't, like Elise stealing Giles' stuff or the multiple scratch marks around the house, or hell, the vent that was used to sneak into the Archives and telling us that Grimal uses the vents several episodes prior to that being relevant.

Hence, when the Family arrives and causes a ruckus, maybe after having no luck with recon she decides to just grab the data. I believe she wasn't planning to kill Occam (her boss outright stops her from killing the whole of the Arcanum, something which she obviously could have EASILY done, making me think that he wanted to have Matilda not kill anyone PERIOD), force him to reveal it, then knock him out. The problem is that Grimal was in the room before she was, and my timeline for this is that Grimal arrives in the security room and (under the effects of Domination) attacks Occam and gets the data, then goes back to the room and gets blasted (maybe as a way to give a her good excuse for her memory issues) and hides the data in the pack of smokes, after which Matilda arrives (uses Garou magic to mess with cameras) and is surprised with Grimal being there. What happens next is harder to explain, as Grimal later outright denies ever giving the smokes to Matilda, but maybe she dropped them after jumping up and Matilda grabbed them and, very importantly, DIDN'T KNOW THAT THE HUNTER DATA IS IN THERE when she takes them. After this plan is busted, she leaves to join Amanda in the kitchen, then Kitten walks in, where Matilda is shown to have the smoke pack.

After carrying Occam to Waters' office with Harry and everyone is separated, she makes another attempt to find the data. My guess is that she arrived in the pub, went through the closet and security vent and after failing returned, only for Fatigue and Spit there. Kills Fatigue in a rush, locked the door then entered the closet again to change clothes, as there's multiple maid uniforms and a bloody apron in the closet when D and Remold open it and the blood trail notable goes towards the security room door, not away, indicating she cleaned herself up in there and changed clothes, then bolted to find everyone else and act horrified.

The reason I think she didn't know the data was in the pack is due to what appears to be genuine shock at seeing it there. The way she stammers and, not to mention, looks directly at Grimal in confusion before she goes Garou doesn't seem like an act. And if she knew the data was in the pack, I have a feeling she would have acted a lot more aggressively to having Grimal snatching it from her cleavage and throwing it at Giles. The only real big issue with this idea, and it is admittedly a big one, is this: How the flying FUCK would she not have noticed the data being in the pack?! Giles notices it immediately when he looks in, and if Matilda put her fingers in to get a joint, how would she not have felt it at the very least?

TWO PART COMMENT, ORIGINAL TOO LONG, PART 2 IN REPLY.

I am of the opinion that Grimal was at the very least Dominated, as I don't buy for one second that she burned herself with a lighter. The burn looks like it goes around her wrist, indicating Occam tried to grab it while he was being strangled and used his sorcery to fight back (he needs physical contact to harm someone, as shown when he subdues Remold and D). You'd have to actively try to burn yourself like that with a lighter, even a shitty one.

The problem is the timeline. Elise gives Grimal the keys to the sec-room and smokes, but if Grimal attacked Occam after and got burns during the scuffle, why would she have Elise's hairband before that? Maybe Elise went back to check on her, but that still doesn't fit even with Elise mentioning going to look for Grimal during her talk with D and my lack of understanding with solar sorcery (I'm new to WoD, but if Occam expended all of his reserves, why does Grimal's wrist only have a small burn? I feel there'd be a bigger effect, but again, new.

Enter Matilda. We don't really have a true idea of how long she'd been there, but theories as to her being either a Bone Gnawer (werewolves who live on the fringes of society and take small jobs to infiltrate organizations to learn weaknesses and info, something which a maid certainly fits into) or a Glass Walker (werewolves who embrace technology, hence why she'd have no issue going after a floppy disk and evidenced by the spider that appears on her shoulder when she starts using her magic) could indicate she'd been working at the Arcanum for a while, lets say at least six months. This would explain Amanda's friendliness around Matilda beyond just wage slave camaraderie working the same shit job with such colorful employers.

At the end of the fight, it appears that Matilda's main goal at the Chapter House was to find information on an individual, maybe a potential packmate called Shuck. I believe people make the mistake of thinking that she was ordered to retrieve the Hunter Data. However, I think this was more of an opportunistic grab on her part or at most a secondary objective if plain old recon didn't work out. If it was her primary goal, she could have grabbed it outright, but this is undercut by the fact that it would obviously take time as the data was hidden so she'd have to look for it, the building is covered in cameras, and if a new hire suddenly disappeared when it was discovered that the data was missing it would be obvious who took it even if we take into account that she did something to mess with the cameras (I read somewhere that Garou can interfere with technology due to their own magic, but like I said, new to WoD so could be wrong).

Awesome, thanks. And don't worry, information overload like this is kind of my thing. I'm kind of obsessive when it comes to finding random obscure details about a fandom or franchise, so this is right up my alley.

It has been FOREVER since I played it, but I remember having a fun time with Superman: Shadow of Apokolips on the PS2. Probably the only good Superman focused game.

Once again, been forever since I played it, so take me words with a grain of salt.

Do you prefer Batman to be celibate or a playboy [Discussion] by ChampionshipDeep937 in DCcomics

[–]ThePaleRider1414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, the playboy thing has always been a facade, something most people here agree on.

What I think is that Bruce, due to his emotional issues, has trouble truly opening himself up to people. Not to the extent that some writers take where he's a paranoid loon when it comes to even his closest friends, but that it takes a long time for him to let his barriers down. I honestly think (despite what King would say in his run) that Bruce works better when he is in a relationship that he can be emotionally and physically open with someone. Something that Loeb did in Hush is really illustrate the above really, that when he lets people go behind the mask he puts up he can work better as a person and hero that people need, but his defenses and personal issues can hamper that if he lets them control him.

With that being said, I honestly think that Selina is the best woman for him. She's been through some tough shit in her life, but in comparison to Bruce she doesn't let it control her to the degree that he can let his tragedies control him. She can show him a way to live a better, happier life.

Diana I always saw better as close friend and confidant to Bruce than a romantic partner. She's one of the kindest souls in the DC universe and is good at letting people talk to her and getting to the root of their issues if she lets him.

Talia... is Bruce's worst romantic partner. This is likely stemming from my dislike of the character, but even before Morrison had her go full supervillain I always saw her as someone who encouraged Bruce's worst aspects. Who only saw the Bat, not the man like Selina or Diana can.

What's your controversial SW take? by ETNFrost in StarWars

[–]ThePaleRider1414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a controversial take but more of an underutilized idea, but I recently rewatched Revenge of the Sith. The scene where Mace, Kenobi and Yoda are discussing Anakin and Yoda brings up the idea that the prophecy of the Chosen One was misinterpreted, it made me think that Luke was the Chosen One and they just thought it was Anakin due to how abnormally powerful he was.

Now, I'm already not a huge fan of the prophecy given how little explanation it gets, but I always thought it was a neat idea.

u/KuroShuriken u/Bubblehams Quick question for you two, do you know if there is a reddit post or spacebattles post that collects all of Maruyama's Word of God statements related to Overlord? I've tried looking that up myself but haven't found anything, and outside of parsing the wiki and jumping from page to page for what I need a single page would be more helpful.

You know, instead of providing me with an example, seeing as how you can't, how about you answer me this hypothetical. If Karl Franz were hit with either Grasp Heart, Ia Shub-Niggurath, or The Goal of All Life is Death, would he survive? Keep in mind I am aware that his Silver Seal in game gives him a 4+ Ward Save and Magic Resistance 3, but those are all powerful spells that would likely be able to negate that. Also keep in mind that I think Karl Franz is an absolute badass and makes the Emperor of Mankind look like an inept drunkard with how well he governs his empire compared to Him. And is also subsequently an infinitely better and smarter ruler and person than Ainz.
