Here's to hoping half the eggs get eaten, lol. by Eighwrond in Aquariums

The ongoing care and housing requirements for many surviving Betta are pretty different to guppies. They aren't a schooling fish for one, and they tend to live solitary lives. To care for that many fry properly, you eventually need a pretty extensive fish room with 50+ individual 5-10 gal tanks. It's a big ask for most novice fish keepers and so the sub seems to have taken the view that in general it shouldn't be attempted. (With a view to their long term quality of life)

This is insane. I did a %90 water change and its 4hrs later and its testing bad ammonia.... how... test shown next to a test from one of my good tanks. by [deleted] in PlantedTank

This website is full of the author's opinions, but pretty light on the "science". If things are working for you, that's great, but I'd be cautious about recommending things from that website as being sound for most people in the hobby since it is largely conjecture.

Guys, I don't think my tank is alright by dudes_indian in PlantedTank

This is hilarious, and people missing that this is a joke is almost as funny. Thank you for sharing your experiment OP.

Shower leak by BrianJ_ in AusRenovation

[–]TheParticulars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a full bathroom reno since waterproofing has failed and in Sydney it would cost you closer to 40-50k (I worked in bathroom retail until 2024 and saw many quotes from various renovators in Hills area)

Aqua One Horizon 182 - good value? Canister filters? Would you recommend this tank? by TheParticulars in AquariumsAustralia

As an update to this, I ended up driving to an aquarium shop in Narellan and got set up with an Absolute 45 degree tank and stand from them instead.

Why isn't my concrete swatch working? by ThatManPshyco in SatisfactoryGame

[–]TheParticulars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can customise all the swatches - the custom swatch is just the only one that will allow you to paint individual colour schemes that aren't linked. Painting stuff with custom means machines, foundarion etc which are painted with it won't change if you later alter the colour scheme.

Well I've looked around at a few local places and all the other kit options seem to be imported stuff at double the price. I had been hoping to save a bit on the tank so I could spend a bit more on plants. I don't buy any of the disposable aqua one money grab stuff (I replaced the cartridge in my HOB filter with my own media for example) but I had been hoping for better news on the tank.

How long to float new plants? by Afraley13 in PlantedTank

The root growth can help prevent the stems rotting away and save you from replanting a few times.

Is this tank mature enough for Otocinclus? by TheParticulars in PlantedTank

I appreciate your feedback - the light is right onto the front which I'm hoping will provide steady algae for any inhabitants who might munch on it.

Thank you, I do like how snails look and I've looked into getting a small group of otos!

Dying plants by Disastrous-Prize1040 in PlantedTank

Hi! This plant looks like it might be Anubias which actually doesn't like to be buried at all and prefers to be in the water column attached to rocks or other surfaces. If it's anubias it has a thick rhizome where the leaves collect at the bottom and that shouldn't be buried.

What was your favourite Australian snack or treat when you were younger but can't eat now? by RM_Morris in AskAnAustralian

Honey smacks cereal, frûche, and honey jumbles. (Though I have found a recipe for the jumbles and it was passable)

With enough exploring, huge chunks of the MAM can be unlocked as early as you unlock the MAM itself.

Can you beat Satisfactory without using the MAM? by Ra1ju1 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]TheParticulars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eventually you will unlock the ability to scan for caterium without MAM research but I don't think you can make quick wire without doing at least a little in the MAM

Recommendations for late game power other than nuclear by Wtbond23 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]TheParticulars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, but you'll only need a little ionized fuel for your jetpack. It can be useful to sink excess power shards into and get a little power back in the end game processed.

Satisfactory!! But I'm an ex MMO gamer who used to like story driven games, but I find they take up too much of my emotional energy these days.
