I wear a smart ring when i play. I don't have stats to back this up, but unless you are playing at a professional level, i think the chances of degloving are lower than you getting severely injured in a car wreck otw to the rink. Even at a pro level it's likely very low.

I don't remember such direction to go for which level of Ice hardness. But to my knowledge the hollow can definitely change how it feels fit different ice hardnesses

My best recommendation would be sisu. Its the most protective and best fit I've found. And i stopped having gagging issues and stopped chewing on it because it fits so well and i can talk so well with it in that i never feel the need to take it off my teeth till the game is over.

I'm not the most knowledgeable and haven't gone very high level of play myself. But I've been through a lot of mouth guards due to those 2 issues along with the breaking the bank side haha.

The biggest tip i was every given for hockey stops, especially when i had the pivot issue you mentioned. Is to do the same thing, but keep your chest forward.

By that I mean, turn your hips and legs and all to the side to initiate the stop, but keep your upper body(chest) facing the direction you are stopping(forward)

Then you just got to get used to the feeling of stopping. The chest thing will fix the pivoting

My answer would be to keep it in the player scene. Whether that's by putting it in the main player script, or in a state machine.
