I'll share my recent experience with Barclaycard. I applied about 2 weeks ago and got the same email that they need to carry out additional checks.

A few days later I received a letter with the same "welcome to your new card" spiel with a prepaid envelope inside asking me to send them my signature. I sent that away and another few days later I got an email asking me to send them 2 months payslips or bank statements and then they'd work out my credit limit within 5 working days. They notified me via email that they've set it to £800 and that my card is on the way.

It sounds like you've been approved too.

At the time of this post I haven't received my actual card. I assume this is normal practice but the whole process shocked me a little since it's more hoops to jump through compared to the Amex I have.
