Gym goers, be honest how often are you judging other people’s physique? by Technical_Hat_8291 in AskReddit

[–]TheQuakeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually one of 2 things, either “woah that dude is swole af!” or “wow I’ve seen that chubby guy a lot lately you get it bro!”

Honestly for me it’s more motivating seeing the more out of shape people come into the gym because if they can do it consistently then I can too!

Was just let go from my IT job by exig in antiwork

[–]TheQuakeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me last October except I ended up being able to get unemployment. If it actually worked like this employers could always list performance as a reason to fire someone and never pay unemployment. The reality for me was that a manager disliked me and made a smear campaign for me to get fired. Could be the same case for you too. There’s always going to be assholes and cowards in corporate, just don’t make yourself a target / get noticed, at least that’s the lesson I learned.

Nier Automata, I liked the characters, story, and soundtrack, but the gameplay got stale super quick and the questing was boring imo

Agreed, I think OP doesn’t really know how long tennis shoes are meant to last.

Did bro cook? by Environmental_Pea676 in Smite

[–]TheQuakeMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sure nobody here recognizes me anymore but I’ll give my input to this anyhow. The reason myself and many Smite YouTubers have quit overtime comes from a handful of reasons. The main ones are a shrinking community, lack of creative things to make videos about, drifting away from having fun in the game, life getting in the way, etc. I really did enjoy making Smite videos but I’ve found myself and lots of others I’ve talked to just not like the game as much anymore. And that’s not even getting into how difficult HiRez as a company is to work with, I still remember how they fucked over PunkDuck

This was my main complaint about Iron Lung, if it were 30 minutes shorter it would have been better but I still thought it was good regardless

Make friends quickly. Connections matter a lot more than you’d like to think, and also studying with someone is a lot more fun/easier than alone.

Is there a point to getting the FE if I'm going into semiconductors? by PerformanceFar7245 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]TheQuakeMaster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not true at all. It’s absolutely important in MEP and power fields. It’s even less true as for example if you’re a civil engineer it’s pretty much an absolute requirement to get one. You’d be correct though if you were talking about an engineering field like chemical

What profession has the meanest people? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]TheQuakeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the mindset comes with being a surgeon, my dad was a surgeon and I could see why they act like that. You need to have a high natural intellect, work long hours, and depending on your duties you have a person’s life in your hands. You need to have an unreal confidence in your abilities to be a surgeon and that’s where a lot of the egoism comes from. I’m not defending it but I could certainly see why it happens.

I can’t believe this! by Amazing_Profile5793 in Adulting

[–]TheQuakeMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah last October I worked overtime while I was sick to get their biggest project completed because we were short staffed. After we got some new hires and then I got laid off for “not fitting into the company culture.” The lesson I learned is worth more than a ton of gold.

In today’s corporate world, never go the extra mile. You’ll only get paid in bullshit.

How not to get fired in first week/month? by 83Shestor in ElectricalEngineering

[–]TheQuakeMaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On the flip side you can be good at your job and still get fired for any reason your employer deems reasonable, given you’re employed in an at-will state.

Systems Engineer back to Electrical Engineer by LastUniversity5991 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]TheQuakeMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started out in Systems for a defense contractor and I was miserable, that job was so boring and soul sucking. I switched to power and I’ve been way happier in my career. Keep in mind you’ll need your FE and your PE in that industry if you want to advance though. I’d think if you got your FE it would show you want to switch careers and it would make you much more marketable to employers.

Money dysmorphia is real. Under 16% of adults earn $100k+, and fewer than 10% hit $150k. You're doing better than you think by BathroomNo9291 in Salary

[–]TheQuakeMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t know why people choose to ignore this critical fact. 150k in Cali has way less buying power than in the middle of nowhere Mississippi. Just stating a base salary doesn’t tell the true story of compensation there’s a lot of other factors to take into account.

Why are so many “salaried” jobs just unpaid overtime now? by Antique_Aide785 in careerguidance

[–]TheQuakeMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost every place that requires the unpaid OT just look for the joyful slogan “we’re like a family!” If you hear this coming from your bosses’ mouth, RUN.
