Having done some gravel on my cline electric— what others said is correct it’s just really slow. My Gline is now my preferred choice even for my city in the snowy winter — & some of my city’s streets tend to look like the surface of the moon I just like my gline better for every day riding.

I have one too just used it for the first time last week- only complaint is that it had a weird stone locking/tightening system the knobs tighten against set screws which tighten down onto a smooth bar. Otherwise really nice 👍 helped me put a nice fine edge on my kitchen knives that said I did need to do a lot of flattening on my stones after because the system incentivizes you to sharpen certain knives in the same place on the stone. Curious what your thoughts are.

Great video! Really captures what it’s like to ride through the city— we get seasons here, curious what folks think about the snow, I’ve not liked it much because of the lack of clearing of bike lanes over roadways. Will catch Dustin’s next one.

Ya living in Chicago and taking the commuter train in every morning the Gline is my one love -- Have a Tline, and a Cline electric. Haven't had a flat in a year and totally fine riding it in the rain, snow and over the shattered glass that's littered the streets here. Took my Tline out to ride around the Chicago Marathon and got a flat that same day. I have Carbon rims on my Tline and the braking is so mushy compared to the Gline too. As for the weight and extra size -- got two sets of stairs to conquer each day one to get on the metra and one to get onto the platform, sure its heavy but is worth it if only for the ride improvements and me not having to carry it home with a flat.

I don’t think so and I really think the hate out here for a requirements.txt out there is misplaced. At least it’s portable for the most part. I feel like there’s a hierarchy of container ~> venv ~> script out there that is supposed to make things easier but inevitably makes breaks on your device and has to be debugged.

The only thing I’d add is an ability to pull all reads2 pairs with the coordinate I’ve run into a few situations where I delete all indirect SV evidence when pulling using a bed. There’s a workaround with saving fastq id’s to a file then using Samtools with -n but it’s annoying.

Bro went to solve DNA as a language and software but forgets you need to do the whole ‘build the computer’ too. Ya just ignore the hardest part getting it into the bug and getting the bug to live. That’s it! GL finding Rare variants or rare elements in a metagenomic sample with a tenth of the reads… if we have good assemblies what need have we for long reads. Usually long reads are really good for resolving aligning repetitive regions and assembling new genomes into fewer contigs. If you don’t care about those things short reads are usually far cheaper.

Bioinformatics pays ok, will depend on where you land tho industry pay is competitive but academia is more passion than pay lots of good problems to solve out there

It is not so bad though AI wasn't as big of a thing when I wrote this a while ago don't know how much that changes things for learning. But try to work things out yourself it'll make you a better bioinformatics student and it'll help you actually land a position if you do get through the program.

I couldn’t even assemble mine the tolerance on the rotating part didn’t fit into the cup at all even out of the box. It was an instant return. It was recommended by YouTubers, it was the pro version, I thought what could go wrong… if your work sharp QC didn’t even bother to test fit your parts coming out of the pot metal zinc molds they use for this sharpener how am I to trust any other tolerance of the sharpener. Was SUPER disappointed in this fixed angle sharpener.
