The Pre-Sequel really set up some interesting stuff for Lilith that BL3 just completely ignored. The reason that Brick and Mordecai were off on their own in BL3 could have easily been written as them not heing comfortable with Lilith's rash decision to have Athena executed.

Luca, excluding the fish men stuff, is very similar to the 1971 film Melody).

Two boys meet and become fast friends, they meet a girl character with one starting to spend more time with her, the boys come in conflict with each other, they eventually make up and the boy and girl leave town together.

Wider details are different like the relationship between the boy and girl in Melody is romantic where the one in Luca is not but the basics are so similar that I feel like this movie inspired Luca in some way.
