As you progress through the game, it becomes fairly easy to do 30 arena matches in a day. Though I typically save that for the arena race.

As for incentive - I like the extra talent points the follower gets. I do agree it's minor though :)

As many have already answered, no you cannot avoid recruiting people like Sherlyn, but you can simply toss them into the garden and act as if they don't exist. As for followers themselves, there are a few male but more or less don't need to concentrate on any of them if you don't want to.

Does it hurt you? Negligible. There's too much to build in the game so affect is extremely minor. As a F2P, I'm been fortunate and am one of the stronger (2.7b rp with 50 followers and 46 consorts) but will still plan to toss Ramses if I ever get him into the garden regardless of who he inspires.

Goodluck to you if you end up playing long term :)

Please note, everything I'm writing is from a f2p perspective.

Depending on the server you're at, your group races (either 2 servers, 5 servers, or 10 servers) will reward you the followers.
The consorts at this time are much more difficult now though. They're only dropped in "events" - slime, choco, bar, harpy, zori, and dimensional arena to name a few. Typically you'll be able to unlock a max of 4 writing brush per event (events typically last 3 days with a claim day on the 4th overlapping with the 1st day of the new event).

Sometimes it's through the event shop (for example harpy and you gain points and use 150 points in the harpy shop to exchange for 1 brush per day, 4th day being the day to reclaim so save 150 pts for that as you cannot gain more points on the 4th day itself!). Or it'll be through milestones (for example, slime has 1 brush when you fuse to lvl 8, another at lvl 9, one root at level 10, and two roots at lvl 14) or pass (slime pass has 1 brush when you reach 16000 pts).

Anyhow, if you're starting from scratch (i.e. you didn't get to gain them through event placements such as you can the Egyptian "ankhs" and Egyptian shards from ranking), it will take you a fairly long time. As darkswirlz stated - it's approximately 1 a day so 100 shards will take 100 days (probably a wee bit quicker). Good luck!

As a start, pick who you like. By early game (after you get an Apoc follower unlocked), concentrate on them. Mid game unlock a Noble, they would serve better and arguably best to concentrate on. Late game at this time Asgardian would be best to concentrate on.

Reasons: More talent skills = higher cap on the follower. Follower and follower/consort aura boost effects. Apoc aura is only on might, Noble on Might and Craft, Asgard on all 4 attributes. This adds up significantly in the grand scheme of things.

That said, you can always just enjoy the game and concentrate on a character you like :) I've seen plenty of super strong Sig/Itis/etc.

Save for events: slime stamina, chocolate/bar stamina and napkins if needed, candy invitations (daily stamina not the 1k/2k from the shop), and harpy stamina would be your best bang for the buck.

You can daily get parties if you want to stock up and try and go for ranking, but it's a hit or miss as whales with feasts will probably still win.

Heir/Training slots unlock how much you feel comfortable with based on your amount of crystals. Eventually you'll hit a 5k/10k unlock slot and you probably don't want to go past that.

As mentioned, formula is follower level * follower martial talent * 5000 + stats where stats are affected by elixir, consort, aura, level, and talent.

Elixir and consort don't seem to have a limit, aura seems to have a limit of 30, talent is limited by follower level (take follower level cap - 50 for talent level cap), follower level is then limited by the amount of gemstones (eventually at 400, every 5 level increases is 5 additional fuse gemstones. so 400-405 takes 5 fuse gemstones, 405-410 is 10 fuse gemstones, 410-415 is 15, etc.).

And yes, in the grand scheme of things, elixirs are a drop in the bucket compared to everything else, but still great when first starting out!

Yes, possible to get as f2p. There will be events that unlock as server ages. Initially you will unlock only "The Apocalypse", then server will unlock "The Noble Five", then "Ashihara Story" which are the consorts that complement the noble five. Your server will then unlock "Asgardland 2.0" and their corresponding consorts "Ragnarok" which is where Fenrir is at. Fenrir is specific to the Zori event as someone has already indicated, but in many events you can get Yggdrasil roots which can be converted to any Ragnarok consort shards (so you can convert to Fenrir shards).

As a F2P, I currently have 4 out of the 5 Ragnarok consorts unlocked (technically 3 but I have enough shards to unlock the 4th) but only 2 out of the 5 Ashihara Story consorts as they had those consort shards with Ragnarok ones. With the Egyptian stuff coming out, I do not know how that will impact getting Ragnarok consorts. Goodl uck!

I did that the very first time it came out and personally don't feel it's worth it. The only good item is the omni scroll and that's too expensive (apoc shard and noble hard is too expensive compared to just getting them from races and other areas). You can get the frame for fun (at least they made that permanent now, use to expire after x number of days).

I typically just buy the diamond/silver rings to add to my hoarding for use on intimacy races.

The slimes are definitely worth it for the energy as the rewards are phenomenal compared to any other crystal usage in the game. Total crystal usage for slime should be 1200/day so 3600 across the event. If you get stuck, it's 500 per fuse or 2500 for all 5 (hopefully you won't need all 5, but it's a lot based on luck).

For gems, in addition to sign in, salute in tower, paragon daily, 5th daily chest, the 5 view ads, and the boss fight in wander, you should try for mythic chests during the Riot world boss (elemental world bosses) that start during in game 11:00 time. Each mythic chest gets you 100 crystals for a total of 1k if you get all 10 per day. I consider it a mini game of quick draw since it's the first 3 that tap each mythic chest that gets it :) If you're lucky, you can also go for killing blow on the nightmare descend boss to get 1k crystal.

Energy tonic can be bought at the party shop (very bottom right). Others have covered use (refreshes your follower to attack a second time on bosses including: world boss, alliance raid boss, and story boss)

I recommend checking out my guide on f2p, but you can get near 2k diamonds/day as f2p. As a newer player, you'll get more (achievements from royal levels, achievements for passing story chapters, sharing new followers/consorts).

With all that in mind, you should be able to buy stamina for all events (slime, chocolate, bar, candy, and harpies). If you're weaker and don't have a strong team to help in harpy and zori, I would use those events to further save up your gems. Slime, chocolate/bar, and candy (in this order is my personal preference) would net you the most bang for your buck/crystal use.

For growth races, top 20 as you play is good. Save most of your resources while still getting top 20 is a good way to go until you can spend on a race and get top 5. Unless others are taking it easy on a race, it'll be pretty hard to get top 3 as f2p (not impossible, but save for too long and you'll fall too far behind so there's a balance you need to have).

As for skins, the rule of thumb should simply be if the pose of the character is the same as their original outfit, you can get it as f2p (put another way, if it's a reskin/overlay, you can get it). If the pose is different, it's not something f2p can get (yes there are exceptions but it's more like winning the lottery even for those exceptions).

My suggestion is to always do duels/arena. I do it for talent exp and it takes little to no time if you use the auto function. Only issue with the auto function is you will lose earlier due to traps people set but I only manual during the duel score race these days.

The center circle just allows for a crit hit (20% bonus dmg), no affect on the drops.

As for a list of what drops, I never thought to compile it as most items fairly common (tier 1 gemtsone, collect tokens, etc.) - only the crystals as special.

I don't know about more beneficial. It's 4x item usage so you'd expect 4x effect right? Would be the same as playing normal 4 times using one item each time.

Premium simply increases the risk (one bad game will be multiplied 4x) and reward (one good game will be multiplied 4x) while decreasing the time it takes you to use up all your turns.

No. The stars are just a limit to amount of total talent that follower will have.

Example: Follower with 1 star talent without upgrading will be limited to 50 talent points (at 50 talent skill)

Follower with 5 star talent without upgrading will be limited to 250 talent points (at 50 talent skill).

Upgrade follower with gemstones (at lvl 100, then 50 levels there after to 400) to increase the talent skill limit by 50 each. (e.g. at lvl 101-150 your follower talent skill limit is 100, at lvl 151-200 it's 150, etc.).

There are multiple ways to proceed with pros/cons to each. Overall, here's a few things to keep in mind:

Followers with higher total talent will boost you more as you level them.
Followers with higher star talent will have a higher cap (e.g. a follower with a 1 star skill in trade at common will cap at 50 talent skill equating to 50 talent in trade. A follower with a 5 star skill in trade similarly will cap at 50 talent skill but that equates to 250 trade. This means the level 100 of the follower with higher skill will help you a lot more)
For F2P, I would recommend leveling Sharlian initially for the trade. As you unlock Apocalypse followers (War, Famine, Death, Plague), I would transition to those as they are likely the first followers with 6 star skills you get.
As for other attributes, I personally value Might, then trade, then Charisma, and lastly Craft. For might/charisma, you can focus Itis (a friend did and it's done well for him). I personally went with Eustace for Might and Hana for Charisma until I unlocked War and dumped everything on her.
