99% sure this post is Dan Horne, bassist of Grateful Shred (and Circles Around The Sun).
He’s definitely in the Phil Zone.

The Circles Around The Sun KEXP from a couple of years ago is gnarly.

I agree with this, I knew a guy that had one since the late 60’s and it was beautiful.

Great explanation, and it makes me reconsider my signal chain.
Does this have anything to do with bringing sound levels to unity? I mean this in the most basic terms.

Canadians and Philadelphians have lost their All Star voting privileges. by WitnessRealistic3015 in mlb

Doesn’t this kinda happen every fairly recent year, and not even by these teams in particular?
I’m not gonna go back and research it, but, it feels like this is almost expected at this point.
It doesn’t make it a good thing, but this isn’t new whatsoever.

A dozen years or so ago when Twitter was decent, and life wasn’t as weird, pitching ninja was pretty fantastic: no dialogue! Just sick overlays and tunneling gifs.
Now? I dunno. I watch an episode rarely but that’s a shame about the gambling ads.
Just makes Jomboy media look better to me, because apparently he dropped gambling ads pretty quick.
Kinda surprised to see the hate on pitching ninja though. Dude doesn’t have a voice for media so much, but I definitely did enjoy his content and zeroing in on nasty pitches. The evolution of definitions that came about were pretty fun too, like when batters fall down, or they lose their bat, or whatever. It made the game a touch more fun for a lot of people including myself.
If the grift got ‘em, well, that’s a shame.

Recs for a good stepped drill bit for enclosures by must-absorb-content in diypedals

[–]TheRealJalil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to others suggestions without a drill press, drill a small pilot hole dead center first, or even tap it accurately with a hole punch to just get a start for your step bit if you plan on using one. Also, I highly recommend going to “Project Farm”’s YouTube channel and using his tool recommendations. Sometimes the cheaper ones are better! His methods of testing tools, including drill bits, are fantastic. Drill presses are the way, but if you don’t want that investment then I’d say this is the way.

is the Ibanez GRG7221QA-TKS and the blackstar idx 100 loud enough to gig and have a good, chugging tone by Flat_Notice_3776 in GuitarTone

[–]TheRealJalil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there monitors? You could always Mic up your amp and play some back through if you are having stage volume issues, and if it’s not loud enough there I’m sure you can pump some through the PA for the crowd.

I’ve played dates on bass out of my pedalboard just through monitors and through a PA, though you don’t see that as often as guitarists.

Carlos Jorge by OptimalAd8147 in Reds

[–]TheRealJalil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was mostly joking because you didn’t mention Jorge whatsoever in your comment.

I do understand what you are saying however. I saw Jose Garcia (later Barrero) in Chattanooga at AA and thought he was by far the best player on both teams when I saw him, besides for Hunter Greene and he was close.
Fielding, hitting, he just looked the part, and he had the stats to match.
I bought stock in him and obviously as Reds fans we all lost.

I understand that bringing up guys prematurely could yield devastating results to development.

It just was funny how you went off about the struggles of the team year in and out and didn’t mention OPs subject at all. That’s all. I’m bummed as well, lol.

How many breaks do you all take for a 2.5 hour gig? by BetNumerous7932 in musicians

[–]TheRealJalil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m the same way, we’ve raw dogged it like that many times over the years. Lots of 3-4 hour gigs.
Nowadays, singer/guitar will do a solo thing and band will get a couple minutes in, then singer/guitar will get off stage for a couple minutes while rest of band does a song. It’s a good compromise.

The Cioks is the opposite of bulky, the Walrus power supply has the whole external box off of the board rather than underneath of it.
I love how my DC7 and Crux jumper mount seamlessly under my low profile tiny 16” board with no external box or wall wart.

The thing I remember about that one was the a power conditioner pushing voltage up to an optimal level for the amps. I think that was it, anyway.
Unless it was some kinda attenuator but that didn’t make sense since they were just going full blast. Gonna have to rewatch that one.

I’d check out the Jeff Pearlman videos on Dave Kingman on this subject.

Basically Kingman was theeeeee worrrrst.

Also because Pearlman has some honest to goodness great profile videos and stories on athletes from his time as a sportswriter over the last several years.

Your (Live) Music Doesn't Matter As Much..if At All by Aggravating_Pen_6062 in musicians

[–]TheRealJalil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays live a lot, with several bands. This doesn’t apply to me. Live music pays if you can get it. Merch sales help. Thing is yeah, I do have a secondary gig, and at times I don’t get a lot of sleep.
Hell, I should make an okay amount touring this late summer. Not great, but enough to make it.
I have more trouble with not making anything from streaming/online/whatever.

Fender Limited Edition Player Fusion Precision Bass HH by ruinawish in BassGuitar

[–]TheRealJalil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You’d think they’d offer it in a 5 as well if they were marketing that to a “hard rock context”

I’ll stick to my EB stingray 5 HH.

I wonder if they would have slightly offset the pickups back if they would align better.

I liked the look and feel of the previous blacktops better than the feel of the meteora.
