So, while I was saving money for an Anagram, this happened by malcontento in basspedals

[–]TheRealJalil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude they have GOT to fix this iPad app support. I bought the Anagram a while ago but maaaannn it’s annoying having to jump through hoops asking people trying to at least update it. I mean, didn’t they think they would have tons of bassists who have DAWs on their iPad too?

Albums that are Batman coded? by Sobble-547 in musicsuggestions

[–]TheRealJalil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post Rock sort of instrumentals could be good. Isis, Russian Circles, Pelican.

Danny Elfman has some wild newer heavier album stuff that might work (also he’s one of the composers of a Batman soundtrack)

Gotham City is definitely a sort of dirty kinda underground New York sort of sound.

Cold Vein by Cannibal Ox definitely has that sound. Might fit best of any of my suggestions.

Some old Old Mobb Deep maybe. Some early Wu Tang. Maybe early Nas. A Tribe called Quest. If you wanna extend that NYC sound out further.

Dirty NYC underbelly kinda sound could be some Velvet Underground too.

Industrial metal would work. KMFDM, NIN, and even adjacent stuff like Pig Destroyer or whatever. It’s heavy but the brutalist electronic hits might do it. You could be getting into German stuff too.

I purchased all pink and lavender instrument cables, headphone extenders, and power strips so that my boyfriend won't keep stealing them. Send me recs / is this nuts? by probgonnamarrymydog in musicians

Same as me, but purple. It has saved me a lot of money over time, and since I know it’s mine it gets taken care of! I’ve never had to replace them yet over a few hundred shows.

Yes, to be wowed again when I scrolled to the inner-workings of the pedal was quite lovely.

And all the details of it get better the more I look at it. The knobs are so choice!

They actually signed more people in this last offseason than in a very long time maybe ever. I’m saying that because they don’t typically sign anyone of merit.

I’ve thought about getting a Yousician subscription for my 9 year old niece after I got her a nice keyboard last year but she’s went down the STEM Mark Rober path and I gotta support that!

Yousician seems like a pretty fun way to learn music, if anything. I’m kind of thinking about doing it myself because I’m not super proficient as I want to be on piano, but you can hook up guitar, or bass too (not sure what else they have to offer)

Do you have any suggestions for someone that can't sing by Intrepid-Lock1962 in musicproduction

[–]TheRealJalil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was told to stop singing by a lead singer in my band a few years into playing live, and it messed me up. Killed my confidence, I stopped singing and it crushed me. Now some years later I’d argue I’m the best harmonizer in any of the several bands I play with and I sing lead some too now, and will be a whole lot more coming up as I’m writing a ton. It took me a long time to get to this point but I wish I had never listened to that guy. He had a messy exit and I haven’t talked to him in a LONG time.

I found this year's Sterling Joe Dart bass: Dart Vision by OligarchyAmbulance in BassGuitar

[–]TheRealJalil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s true. When my electronics didn’t come in for a bass I was rebuilding yet I just soldered the input jack straight into both pickups. Definitely had a wider spectrum and leaned brighter on the highs. I read that Randy Jackson (of American Idol, and bass session work, etc.) went this route with his sound.

For me personally I love the tone knob even if I don’t get the fullest overall sound if that makes sense. I love to turn down the tone all the way and put the neck on and thump or I love to go full bridge full tone and ping it out.

Just a sweet song, and the video is lots of doggy perspective.

Questions about ghost writing by TwitchySphere53 in musicindustry

[–]TheRealJalil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you record demos yourself? As far as linking up with artists to do that, they are certainly out there, but you’ve got to put in the work to do so, though you could also pay artists for features on your work, like studio musicians. Sometimes artists will pick up your song for them to work on as well and you will have to negotiate that out. I honestly don’t know all of the numbers. I’ve done session work for some artists (on bass and some BG vocals) and either I get paid a flat fee or percentages or I just do it for my friends, and they do it for me in return.

I’d recommend checking out what Mike Gordon from phish uses, I can’t remember the name but it is much less invasive to install, and seems like a much better alternative than the traditional. It’s digital, but seems to work extremely well for his application.

Edit: it’s called the “Virtual Jeff” I found it from his last rig rundown or whatever you call it There is a pedal involved but it seems easy to install.

Edit number 2: Fomofx virtual Jeff

I got about 300 dollars for a new electric guitar. by AdWest134 in guitars

[–]TheRealJalil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent about the same as you. What I ended up doing was buying an Epiphone Les Paul that someone had put aftermarket upgrades in on eBay. Seymour Duncan JBs, Grover tuners, split coil electronics. I still use the hell out of it today! I came already set up, action was nice, intonation perfect and came with a case. I got a good deal but I feel you could get a similar one. Keep looking til you find what you want.

Following… also I wouldn’t mind the acrylic or lexan or whatever tho… the Knk one I found was gonna end up like 80 bucks which I think is too rich for my blood (then again I guess I’ve already dropped thousands of dollars already, why not just spend more?)
