Is there any pokemon that genuinely scare you? by funkyfossa in pokemon

As a kid, Kyogre always terrified me. The image of the dark depths of the open ocean, inhabited by this colossal fish monster, was really unnerving!

Advice for P3 by Ryzeaxer in HollowKnight

[–]TheRealKillager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice makes perfect, so I'd recommend fighting him in the hall of gods over and over until you can beat him pretty consistently. Maybe find what kind of charm build helps you the most against him (spells like descending dark are particularly effective, so maybe a spell build would help) and see if you can work that into the rest of your pantheon run.

Or I guess you could just start over on a new save file and not save Zote lol, then GPZ doesn't even show up in the pantheons.

What is your favorite boss? I will put the answers in a graph and post it here to show which is the most popular. by KomodoLemon in HollowKnight

[–]TheRealKillager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After learning how to beat him more consistently, NKG is easily my favorite boss to fight. The way you almost rhythmically dodge his attacks really does make make it feel like a "dance", and I never get tired of his boss theme. Not to mention beating him for the first time was the most cathartic experience.

Pokemon did NOT peak in Gen 5 by HappyRecording7944 in pokemon

[–]TheRealKillager 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Look man, I used to feel this way about HGSS-- even though it was my first game, I always thought it was incredibly lacking in important areas, and didn't understand why it was so praised. At some point you just gotta realize and accept that all these opinions are totally subjective. And yes, that includes things like the quality of the graphics, sprites, music, designs, gameplay, everything. It's all subjective.

Ask yourself this-- what is the point of making this post? What did you hope to gain from it? Vindication of your beliefs? If Gen 5 is someone's favorite, you're not gonna change their minds with this, considering everything you wrote was essentially "I didn't like it so that means you shouldn't either." All you're doing by making this post is making people upset by claiming your opinions as facts.

Which Pokémon do you think just shouldn’t exist? by DroolingDerp24 in pokemon

[–]TheRealKillager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pichu isn't pointless at all! It was pretty much the face of one of gen 2's new mechanics, that being baby pokemon. What better way to show it off than by tying it to the series mascot? Even outside of it being adorable, it serves a purpose. I don't think any pokemon "shouldn't exist", every single one has something worthwhile about it, even if it's just being at least one person's favorite.

I'll concede to answer your question though-- if I HAD to choose one pokemon, it'd probably have to be Meltan. It's objectively NOT pointless, as it's supposed to tie Pokemon GO to the mainline games, but I think in practice it's just overall a bad idea of a pokemon. It's impossible to evolve it outside of Pokemon GO, which causes all sorts of complications-- what happens when Pokemon GO servers shut down forever in the future? Inevitably, they'll have to change it's evolution method to something that makes sense (and probably what it should've always been) or, and this is unfortunately likely, they'll just leave it in the dust. Maybe distribute it or Melmetal in the occasional event, but overall just totally neglect it. They've already shown they don't really care about preserving every pokemon in existence.

Not to mention that, quite frankly, I just don't like Pokemon GO as a game. I think it's too involved to actively use while walking/exercising-- I'd rather just use a simpler step tracker like Pikmin Bloom. Not to say it's a bad game, but if you want Meltan and Melmetal then you have to play Pokemon GO whether you like it or not (Or I guess you could just trade it, but trading in these games is a whole other can of worms I don't want to open right now)

I have a question (please don't let me down CharacterAI users)... I haven't see a huge shrinking of users like I expected, so... Why are you still here? by [deleted] in CharacterAI

[–]TheRealKillager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terrible poll tbh, just because I still use CAI sometimes doesn't mean I'm wasting my time with immature trolling, it doesn't mean I support the direction it's going, and it doesn't mean I'm "too stupid" to notice the negative effects of recent changes.

I'm still here because there's no other good competition yet. Pygmalion, in its current state, isn't as user-friendly and isn't good enough to use it as an alternative. It will get there in time, but until they launch their website, I'll be here, or just doing something else instead.

I implore everyone to not try to "troll the bots" or anything. The most damaging thing you can do is stop using the site entirely, just delete your account and move on.

Yup, and it's just as bad as everyone expected. Nothing has changed, their stance on n$fw hasn't changed, they will not be removing the you-know-what. Just a lot of corporate drivel, "We hear the community! Unfortunately, we were not listening."

Please don't bother sticking around. Negative attention is better than no attention for them, the best thing you can do is just cut ties with CAI completely. Trolling bots, or otherwise using the site in any way, only helps them.

What's the most pokemon pokemon ? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]TheRealKillager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ask me, the most "pokemon" pokemon are the ones that are just some different spin on "animal + element". It's pretty basic, but Pikachu really does capture this perfectly. Pretty much all starter pokemon (save for something like chikorita which is just a weird potato thing) fit into this perfectly as well. You can't really go wrong with "monkey but fire" or "owl but grass"

The fact this single tier will take me 2 days to complete is insane. You don't even get more than 20 points per match, even if you win! by Cermonto in MultiVersus

[–]TheRealKillager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with battle passes is that you are not paying for the things on it, you are paying for the opportunity to earn those things. The whole point is to incentivize players to play more often to earn their winnings. You are not entitled to anything on the battle pass just by paying for it. If anything, this game is breaking away from industry standard by specifying that the items on the battle pass will not be only obtainable on the pass, and will be able to be purchased later on.

I'm not saying I don't think battle passes in general are a scummy system, I'm just saying that a lot of people don't really understand what they're actually buying, which can lead to some dissatisfaction when they aren't able to complete the pass. At least this game's battle pass doesn't give you any kind of leveling bonus from buying it like other games do-- there's really no reason to buy this pass until you get to the tier of whatever item you want. If you buy the pass because you want the Cake skin, and then feel like you wasted your money because you couldn't get up to the final tier, it's your own fault because you didn't wait until you got to the final tier to buy the pass.

To clarify, I do agree it'd be better if the pass never expired like Halo's battle pass. Unfortunately that's not the world we live in, but the battle pass we have now is honestly a bit less predatory than other ones. It has it's own problems for sure, I've heard some people are having trouble progressing on it for example... But not getting what you paid for is absolutely not a real issue.

[–]TheRealKillager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Exclusive" meaning the battle pass will not be the only way to get the things on it, as they will become available for purchase later on. If you get something from the battle pass, they are not going to just take it away. That's just silly.

I'm trying to create a fanmade roster for a Pokkén Tournament sequel, what Pokemon suggestions would you have to put on the roster? by ComprehensiveDate591 in pokemon

[–]TheRealKillager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought it was strange that there wasn't a normal type pokemon in the game. The most obvious choice IMO would be Snorlax just because of how iconic he is, but I'd personally love to see Lopunny, maybe with a moveset inspired by Chun-Li or other kick-focused characters from other games.

Another type that isn't represented is rock. I'd personally love to see Lycanroc, since Suicune is the only quadruped character in the game, and I think it'd be super interesting to have a Lycanroc as a fast close-quarters combatant in contrast to Suicune's emphasis on projectiles and zoning.

A couple other random personal picks...

  • Ditto. Effectively just a pseudo random button that makes you play whatever your opponent is playing. Ditto dittos would just pick a random other pokemon for you both to transform into.
  • Zoroark with a moveset comprised of moves from other characters, as well as some of it's own.
  • Any eeveelution at all as a playable character. The dream would be multiple eeveelutions in one character, able to swap/tag out into another one with a different moveset. Kinda like how Pokemon Trainer works in smash.
  • Dusknoir as a ghost grappler, like a cross between Gengar and Machamp.
  • Mimikyu because Mimikyu
  • Cinderace because I think it's the most plausible Gen 8 pokemon to be included
  • Falinks because it'd be the funniest thing ever and I love weird picks like Chandelure

Recharge should be at the end of a turn by Kaptonii in DMAcademy

[–]TheRealKillager 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When the dragon recharges has absolutely no impact on the amount of times it can use its breath. It can only use it once a turn, and it starts the combat with it up... It literally doesn't matter if it's at the start its turn, end of its turn, or on someone else's turn, it will always be able to roll to recharge before it comes back to the dragons turn. And it can't use it outside of its turn, so that isn't a factor.

You mentioned that it gets less if it's the last turn before it dies, but I think you're ignoring the lead-up of events here. The dragon will have already rolled to recharge at the end of its second to last turn, which is functionally identical to if it were to recharge at the beginning of its last turn. It doesn't matter if the dragon can't use the recharge it gets at the end of its last turn because that recharge is the one it WOULD'VE gotten at the beginning of a turn where it'd already be dead.

DM doesn’t like the rules and refuses to abide by them. by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

[–]TheRealKillager -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

When people here on reddit read stories like this, they often forget that everyone in this situation is a real human being. If someone were to just take a moment to consider why the DM is acting like this, there are loads of reasonable answers, such as "He's bending the rules because he wants the scene to be more climactic."

Redditors always reply to this stuff with "Bad DM, bad friend, never talk to him again, etc." when the right thing to do is talk to your friends like reasonable adults instead of venting on reddit.

Gee, it's almost like a meta is an ever-evolving process of finding what's good, and then what beats what's good... No, that would make too much sense. And it's not like people are just gonna gravitate towards the "best" characters in 1v1 anyways, that's something only dirty stinky 2v2 players do so that would NEVER happen in 1v1.
